I also support the concept of a Vangaurd pistol.

  3. I had some interaction with him, and the CoH community is heavily dented by his passing. Rest in peace Syd, you will be missed.

  4. Tower of Power is a band name and it /may/ get generic'd. :/

    canon check

States and Recluse both drank from teh well of furies, gaining the power of ancient gods, and opened pandoras box, creating the power behind almost all metahuman activities now. The only real problem I see here is that Cimerora clearly has superpowered beings there and not to mention there have been mages long before then. Perhaps opening it in the future opened it to the world regardless of time. Theoretically, travelling through time could pass the effect of pandoras box into the past, thereby allowing magic and such to exist at all. That would explain why mages existed before the Box was actually opened, because in the future, it had already been opened and transferred to the past through recless time travel.

Pardon me, I'm just ranting about how many loopholes CoH lore tends to have.

And I can gently ignore thier bios and thier personal storylines where they cross the line of making/not making sense with the world around them. As I once said in the D, "I've got laser-shooting spider arms welded to my spine, and I'm not the wierdest one here."
My Crab acts that way all the time. He met a Mutant who could throw fire and called him a freak, all while cocking a crab arm back into place.

Mutants seem to be the MOST accepted of the hero types in Paragon, and it seems the only people who arent as accepted are Kheldians/Aliens. After all, there are "Earth for Humans" bilboards all over the place.

  8. He means in function, NOT in use. As in, you have a vigilence bar you gain by using stuff from you primary set to assist teammates/debuff enemies. Once youve done it enough you can click the power, it fills your endurance and gives you temporary Mez protection and removes mezzes from you. IE: It functions the same way, but has a different effect.

And I think it's an amazing Idea.

Defenders are the primary support Archetype and they need to have an inherent that reflects this. The new vigilence version would allow you to un-mez yourself and rush back in to help your team as best as you can.
  9. CoH got all the categories it fit in. Except most anticipated. That went to the The Old Republic.

    So, why not use them?
In the amount of time it takes for your sniper attack to cast, you could have casted 2 other blasts who's total damage exceeds that of the sniper attack and has Zero percent chance of being interrupted no matter what.
  11. Honestly, any blaster is fun in its own respect, and in my opinion, any blaster combo can be more fun than any other character you make. I like to think more along the lines of theme with blasters than anything, but then again, there are some nice out of theme combos that are very synergetic.

    Combos I suggest: Ice/Ice, Elec/Elec, Fire/Fire, Anything/Energy (no really, /EM is amazing).
  12. This is actually a good guide! It's hard to find guides with powersets that rarely get paired up. I honestly never thought to roll a Plant/Cold. I'm going to steal some of the slotting ideas you have here for my Plant/Emp/Stone. :P

I'm a 24 month vet, and I love this game, and plan to play it for as long as it's around, but to think that I would have to wait four years (and hope the game is still around) to get a sixth costume slot, or additional costume colors or auras, would just suck.

Inspirations that make other players a wee bit tougher in PvE? I'm all for it! If my blaster teammate is hitting more often, and my tanker teammate is doing more damage, that means I'm getting XP at a slightly higher rate.
I understand completely. Im only a 36 month vet and I STILL havent unlocked some of the costume parts. I like the power drones and the non-combat pets and the map reveal because they'e not universally game-changing like the Vet Team Teleport or the costume chunks. The First few costume unlocks for Vet Time are nice because you get through them fairly quickly, but a new player coming in to see they cant get the cool new Witch Doctor costume set until playing for 75 months would be fairly depressing.

100% Agree. I dont feel any of what they added is unbalanced or bad, but after the costume parts and stuff, its disappointing to see silly buffs instead of at least interesting ones like the map reveal power they added. The animation was cool, and while it's effect wasnt exactly a fantastic advantage, it was at least something different and interesting.

    Looking for a SG

Generally when people say a meeting is mandatory they just mean that they would everyone to come. There shouldnt be a problem in missing a meeting here or there, especially if it doesnt fit into your schedule. I think something like the Global Defenders is up your alley. They have a thread in eh supergroup forums right now. They /say/ they RP, but they frequently mix up IC and OOC (which leads to some hilarious misunderstandings :P) and tend to focus more on gameplay from what Ive seen, though, they are open to RPers.
  16. Keep in mind that if you have another power queued up already to occur, the auto power will wait until you've used the queued power to activate.
  17. Call me Awesome has some of the best Invulnerability guides on these forums, give them a gander.

My biggest problem with those numbers and suggestions is that shield seems a lot streakier...sure it would be nice to always have a fully saturated AAO, that might happen especially if I want to solo AVs and the like...
Considering my only real experience with Shield is on my Shield/SS tank, I'll have to say that AAO adds alot of DPS in the long run. However, when soloing an AV, you're only fighting 1 target or so at a time (depending on the AV, but generally not much more than 1), which makes AoEs much less desirable, and makes AAO add a small damage buff rather than a reputable one. A Fire or Elec/Shield can make the most out AAO because of their silly amount of AoE DPS potential, especially in farming or grouping situations. Once the AV comes along that bonus from AAO is ging to get harder and harder to notice. The +DMG set bonuses are pretty easy to maneuver into your build, especially considering that they're in most of the paths to positional defense in the relevant sets. Dark/SR can lead to an incredibly resilient and self-sufficient build thanks to the passive +20% reharge from SR and self heal/end recovery tools from Dark Melee. Your defense softcap will be relatively easy and cheap to aspire too, at which point Recharge and the other goodies will come into place. The build itself wouldn't be too difficult to put together and would work incredibly well, especially on a budget.

I keep thinking of Invulnerability for some reason now. A Dark/Invul could be a viable option as well. While Smash/Leth def softcap wont be as easy to reach, you'll have another self heal, as well as quite reputable resistances on top of that. Fire/Invul might work out better in that repect, leaving the build open for grouping and AV soloing options, wheras dark/invul will be a Soloer in the highest regard.
  19. As easy as it is to Softcap Super Reflexes, it leaves alot to be desired offensively. My Kat/SR is fun and all, but his offensive capabilities are just weighed down by his secondary slighly, especialy in comparison to a /shield scrapper. At first glance Shield look fantastic, Def Softcap capability, AAO and shield charge and a bonus to HP and Resistance, where SR just has Defense. Sadly, howver, Shield doesnt have as much Resistance to Def Debuff. The Res to Def Debuff is the whole allure to SR for me, even if I do feel a bit lacking in the DPS department. Now I'm notmuch of an AV soloer or anything like that, but I'll have to agree with Werner on Dark Melee. The Self Heal is so nice when coupled with a defense heavy set, not to mention the inherent -ToHit debuffs on the enemies will stack nicely with your own defense toggles. ANother factor to keep in mind is end game resistance. Katana, for example, does entirely lethal damage, which is the most commonly resisted damage type. Dark Melee has a rather large Negative Energy Component that feels very nice, even if it does lack tools such as Soaring Dragon and The Lotus Drops. In this case it feels entirely based on preference, so just pick what you you'd like to try and see how it fits.
  20. As Fedor said, Welcome!

As he neglected to say, it only gets worse from here.

Which would you pick, build up or ice patch?
OMG BOTH. Build Up + SHield Charge followed by Ice Patch will hit for some decent damage, followed by free Knockdown, it's a beautiful combination. Id say skip Ice Sword and Greater Ice sword and Take Frost. GIS is one fo teh most TERRIBLE single target attacks int eh game, and Ice Sword doesnt get much better, whereas Frost is incredible.

Like killing Statesman Solo for no reason?

    Yeah.
  23. This isnt a problem, its working as intened.

And I hate it. They should give us the option for more arachnos costume slots, or being able to mix the Arachnos pieces with other pieces for our own personal flair.

Or removing the Crab Legs when in a Bane Build.
