Generally when people say a meeting is mandatory they just mean that they would everyone to come. There shouldnt be a problem in missing a meeting here or there, especially if it doesnt fit into your schedule. I think something like the Global Defenders is up your alley. They have a thread in eh supergroup forums right now. They /say/ they RP, but they frequently mix up IC and OOC (which leads to some hilarious misunderstandings :P) and tend to focus more on gameplay from what Ive seen, though, they are open to RPers.

First my history with CoX, I started playing a long time ago quit after a month and came back four months ago and can't stop playing. Unfortunately the supergroup a friend of mine got me into when I started the first time has become inactive (he doesn't even play anymore really).
I've checked out a couple SGs in game with different toons and have simply found them not for me for various reasons. Ultimately I'd like to find a SG that's active, is RP friendly but not required (I don't do it but I enjoy watching others who do) and doesn't have any strict rules or meetings. I understand rules and meetings to a point but some SG leaders act as if it should be as important as my job. "Mandatory meeting at such and such time"... this is a game, there should be nothing mandatory about it.
