Quote:Guys, dudes, everyone, we all dislike Champ-O, yeah, but if we keep going like this, we'll get all off-track. I've picked an arc off TerminusEst's list that has it all: bad writing, canon muck-ups, needless drama, and a highly religious character apparently written by someone who learned everything they know about Christianity by watching The Simpsons. And that's just the first two missions, there's five total.I'm an FPSer, but you couldn't pay me to play Champions. Just the fugly graphics alone are enough to keep me away.
I did a pretty poor job of getting screenshots in those missions, so I'm gonna start the arc over tonight. -
Don't you hate when something bites your sister?

Dang, TerminusEst13 was handling the hosting for Zero Stars Visual, too. I can whack together the HTML, but I've nowhere to put it!
Edit: I just got an e-mail from TEst13, he gave me some hosting advice and a list of potential Zero Stars arcs he's found. I'll have a look at some of the arcs when I get home. -
Quote:Well, honestly, the difference between Defenders and Blasters, in terms of damage output, should be pretty large.Whilst, yes, Defenders do what blasters do "to a lesser extent" it is, as you say, and as I have pointed out, a rather large difference. Yes, the difference in (de)buffs between Controllers and Defenders is there, but it is significantly less than the difference in damage (I refer back to my annecdote earlier).
Defenders are primarily buff/debuff characters, and damage characters secondarily. Blasters are primarily damage and, secondarily, more damage. Since damage is all a Blaster has, they should really deal more damage than any other Archetype, especially an Archetype for which damage is not even their primary focus. That's why I suggested that Defender buff/debuff numbers be improved, as opposed to their damage output. -
First thing Defenders need is a new Inherent Power. Their current one only works on teams, and then only if the Defender isn't actually Defending all that well. Then perhaps a boost to their buff/debuff numbers to make Defenders more effective than Controllers at manipulating enemy stats, while still keeping Controllers desirable team-mates for their mez capabilities.

Dang, that can't be fun. Take care, Posi, and get well soon!

This has got to be a joke thread. Costume pieces and travel powers as rewards for spending enough time on teams? Oh, baby, you'd get your teams all right. You'd get frustrated, irritated people who don't really want to team, but who feel forced to because they want those costume pieces. Sure, it might get people to team more, but it'd almost certainly not make them like it.
Me, I solo a lot. Almost all the time, in fact. So yeah, I really hate the idea of something as significant as costume pieces being team-only. It frustrates me enough that there's team-required content in the game, with costume pieces as rewards, no less. And I really don't like how long it takes to get enough Vanguard Merits for, well, anything, without joining a Rikti Ship Raid or a (team-required) Lady Gray Task Force.
Samson_Sledge, your suggestion is a big, huge step in the wrong direction, buddy. -

Quote:I think that, in PvP, the suggested set would be really irritating for both the user and the victim. The user because he's stopping some of the other guy's powers, but the other guy's still hammering on him, and the victim because all of a sudden he can't use powers he wants. As for EBs and AVs, they'd probably have protection against it, since they have protection against every dang thing else, you know? His point does stand though, to some extent.
Against the foes that you're looking to go against with this kind of thing, like EBs and AVs, they don't have that many powers. To turn off even a few could shut them down entirely. Also, many AVs don't have any defensive toggles at all. They just have a power called 'Resistance'. Would this set turn that off? Considering that it's basically an inherent for them?
What would this set do in PvP? Turning off only one power, that you probably can't chose, would likely do nothing in PvP.
Nor would it be that great in PvE, since it would probably be single-target focused, and therefore not be too useful in a lot of PvE, where area debuffs would be better. -
Quote:I'm trying to remember if 3D Studio Max let me mirror bone structures back in those animation classes. I don't think so. I guess it wouldn't matter if it did, since Back Alley Brawler might be using a different software for animation, but still, it'd be nice to know.I've often wondered if it's possible to simply flip all existing animations and add them to an alternate package of reverse animations for the same thing. This means opposite foot forward, left-handed broadsword, right-handed katana and so on and so forth. Technically, this wouldn't need NEW animations, but I'm not sure how possible it is to mirror existing animations in their entirety.
Anyway, it wouldn't be too difficult to mirror animations manually (not in 3DS Max, anyway), but it'd be a terribly time-consuming process if ever there was one, and the result wouldn't be nearly as spectacular as Power Customization. I wouldn't hold my breath for alternate-handed animations until BAB and his assistants have a lot of time and not a lot to do with it. Which is kind of too bad, it'd be a nice feature. -
I like you. On a topic-related note, some more asymmetric costume options would be great. Right now we have Robotic arms, eyepatches, and, um... something else? That I can't think of off the top of my head? Yeah, we need more. Heck, just being able to offset patterns would be nice.

I don't understand what's wrong with the rating system. It displays the average rating and the number of votes. I guess I just don't understand why it needs to be more complicated than that.

I'm trying to find the post, but I recall Sexy Jay once saying he'd made robes for player characters, only to discover that they clipped hideously with many, many power animations. Including Rest.
Remember, while players can get clever with Arcitect to make NPCs do emotes, the devs get to test using actual player skeletons and every animation in the game. They know what would happen. -
Quick Reply:
I have two Blasters with Energy Manipulation. Their pink pom-poms of doom will no longer be pink. One I'll switch to blue, matching his Energy Blast attacks, but the other's primary is Assault Rifle, so he's wide open. I'm thinking maybe gold or something. I haven't looked at the color palette for Energy Manipulation yet. -
Dang, I forgot all about this thread. Well, here's the Alteridem family:
Theo Alteridem -Leader of the Alteridem Foundation, usually seen wearing a longcoat. He's a clear-cut determinator who employs supernatural martial arts. From that point, opinion is divided. His friends and family will say he's a doting father and all-round hero who operates as a big brother mentor for a number of heroes, including his own son and daughters.
Theo's critics, on the other hand, say he's not at all nice, making specific note of his willingness to kill evildoers. They also claim that he raised his kids as child soldiers or even tykebombs, and occasionally mention the way his glasses reflect light half the time.
Keiko Alteridem -She's a lady of war who plays with fire while dual wielding katana. Her prominence as a hero has drawn attention to her housewife status, which critics of the Foundation sometimes hold against her. Has been mistaken for her childrens' sister.
Beckett Alteridem -He's either crazy awesome or a straight-up Wonka, depending on who you ask. Either way, he's a determinator who dual wields scimitars, teleports, and has a talent for Indy ploys. Has a slight big brother complex towards his sisters. Beck is adopted, having been found in a dumpster by Theo and Keiko.
Cyril Alteridem -She's a meganekko who really likes hats and tends to act emotionless. That said, she can and will remind villains to beware the nice ones, since she's an ice person who likes to shout. She also reads a lot.
Megan Alteridem -She's either a cute bruiser or someone with boobs of steel, opinion being divided on whether or not she's... endowed enough to qualify as having the most common superpower (Megan herself insists that she isn't). Either way, she's another determinator, and likes to drop the hammer. Do not mistake her for dumb muscle, because that makes her very, very angry. -
You know, you have a point, a lot of those lines do look like SNKglish. That makes me wonder...

Another way CoH should not be like Champions is to have so many costume pieces that make me say "who the heck thought I'd put that on a character?", but that's a discussion for another thread.
Yeah, I don't think purchased costume bits will move past the Super Booster setup. I really don't think the Champ-O system will work out well. -
I collect Temporary Powers the way some players collect badges. Except without the farming. Of course, no Temporary Power demands that you kill 100 Bosses of a specific type to get, so... yeah.
I also use the crafted pistol power to give my Scrappers some range. Well, I used to, now I have the Nemesis Staff and Blackwand for that. -
Quote:The characters I've used for Zero Stars Visual so far are on Triumph. I've got some on Freedom, too. I take it the UoG writer isn't pleased with your review? He probably won't like mine, either.New edition of Zero Stars Visual up, thanks once again to Bitt_Player. Makes me wish I had a character on Justice, I'd love to tag along with him and add my own points of view.
Review of UoG2 is late, in case some of you noticed.
Yeeeeeeah, turns out Mr. Bensen got wind of my review, and of my review plans for his next arc. We've been having...in-depth discussions.
Anyway, got any ideas for the next ZSV? -
I fully support increased drop rates. I don't know if there's anything wrong with the current drop rates, but I wouldn't mind more stuff. It's certainly a better idea than trying to artificially manipulate the economy, which is the sort of flim-flam that caused the real-life situation our OP compares the game market to.
