Quote:You need 314% total recharge in followup to be able to fire it off in the fu, slash, focus, repeat attack chain. Stating it can be used between every other attack is a bit of an overstatement.
you can set it up to hit every other attack keeping -
In the case of Castle's quote, inherent there means powers like brawl.
-
Hit 22. Added Cloak and SOs. Bumped diff to +0/x6, took out the first rather large spawn with 1 green insps used.
The claws/EA lives another day. -

Quote:Gonna paraphrase horribly here, but BAB's response to this was something along the lines of 'yea, and that's all a buncha legacy crap that I didn't have a say in. I can stop THIS bit of stupidity from happening, so I'm going to.'
Though then one could say why can granite brutes do Tremor, Total Focus and Whirling mace/axe/FSC??
Or something like that.
If it leads to a non-model shifting choice for granite armor and different animations for eviscerate... I'm cool with waiting.
EDIT: Not that I'll play stone armor until the -movement is yanked from rooted.... -

SR gets very silly with IOs. Once soft-capped and backed by tough which stacks on the S/L portion of the passive scaling dam-res and juiced up with HP and Regen, yea, it ranks high.
But it takes a lot of "work" to get there. Add in Aid Self and you become functionally immortal. -
Quote:Snake's also have single target spit. Covered by SR FS, not by EA at all.
-There were hellions doing fire dmg but only the bosses
-I dealt with Skulls, none of which actually got much chance to do anything outside the long Soul Drain animation
-Some Longbow bosses using Energy Melee and Fire Melee, but both those are also smash/lethal
-Those snake bosses with their toxic breath but I think that's AoE. Not even SR will protect you from that early on
-The last mission I did had Legacy Chain throwing energy blast/melee but both are smashing
Haven't run into any council yet but they're mostly lethal anyway. The majority of that stuff is bosses too, and guess what goes down first?
Correct about Hellions.
Skull bosses also get dark blasts.
Lost have energy blasting LTs and psi bosses.
Vahz have dark using bosses and zombies have both projectile vomit range/toxic and what appears to be a non-positional puke as well.
On Council, Galaxies use negative energy and one type of elite marksman uses ranged/fire while another does cone/fire.
Goldbrickers are ranged/energy but those dam-res debuffs are murder when they do connect. -

I'm having a hard time staying alive at +0/x4 on the claws/ea. -
This. My db/wp scrapper needs that torso. Needs it badly.
Devs, there needs to be another way to get this.
waitwaitwait....
That means it's just like the freakshow costume. A power toggle that completely replaces your model/costume.Quote:With a simple toggle, you can actually become this awesome character in-game!
Which I have zero desire for.
I want the torso, the shoulder pieces and the gloves.
Perhaps the pieces will be available with GR once it goes live since we saw the gloves in game during beta.
What's more: Those gloves only showed up on the Huge body selection. That costume power doesn't use the huge model.
So I've still got some hope. -
+4/x8 Council and CoT
Arachnos and Carnies at that level hurt like hell due to massive damage non-positional psi attacks.
But I'm dumb and keep going back for more. -
I don't know about that, Leo. Council fire off a lot of energy. Hellions use fire. Freaking snakes pile on the toxic. Sure, the majority is S/L, but there's plenty other types being tossed at you villain side early on.
-
I do admit that I'm looking forward to energy drain. I can handle that type of heal.
I have a soft-capped build designed... but it has some issues regarding recharge. -

I16 with its increased difficulty will emphasize even more that other than purple-farming there's little high-level content for soloists?
You're confusing me. Soloist get the same content as teamers in this game. Except for the TF/SFs that demand a minimum team size, of course.
Gaining inf and drops (YES, DEVS, THE RECIPE DROP RATES ARE BROKEN) is secondary to why the increased difficulties are so wonderful. Playing my main hero was boring solo before I-16. Now? I'm getting my but kicked.
2 +4 Master Illusionists in one spawn followed up by 2 +4 Ring Mistresses in the next make for a VERY bad day for an SR scrapper. I actually got angry at how quickly they tear through Bill Z with their non-positional psi attacks.
And yet I kept going back until the mission was done. Masochism? Maybe. A challenge that before was simply not present? Definitely.
Will CHV become City of Lone Purple Farmers? No more than it already was.
Teamers team. Soloists solo. Most do both to one degree or another. That ain't changing.
This weekend, my rebuilt main brute has to to badging. Good thing I-16 lowered some of the requirements for those accolade badges. I have to run all the villain side SFs as well just because.
Then I'll go back to farming inf/drops with paper missions in Grandville.

Quote:Took me 103 hours to hit level 50 on my dm/wp brute replacement for the level 50 em/fa brute I deleted.Wouldn't it be awesome if it you actually spent forever leveling up a character? As in literally forever? How awesome would the game have to be if for you to be willing to play it forever. And how super awesome would it that Death itself wouldn't be able to stop watching you play over your shoulder long enough to tote your soul off into the afterlife. You'd be immortal and entertained!
Although, I suppose if you're more cynical you could view it as some kind of eternal punishment. IE, replace the fire and pitchforks with an uncomfortable chair and an eternal climb to ding level 50 in CoH (undoubtedly on a really bad PUG).
(This post is all in good fun, and I truly regret that you feel the leveling pace of the game has become too slow for your tastes)
Is that too long to reach level 50?
I've got... what 16 slots on Pinnacle? Let's say the average time to 50 (SOLO, we must keep in mind) is 150 hours. Let's say I decide to delete all of my characters and start from scratch. And get the server filled with 50s.
2400 hours. 100 days. Or 300 days if I play 8 hours a day. Or 600 days if I play just 4 hours a day.
600 days. Less than 2 years. I've been playing on and off since Sep of 04. I've deleted more characters than half the game's population has made. *possible hyperbole there*
103 hours doesn't seem like a long time to get to 50. Were I to be someone that teams more, I'm sure that this number would have been even less.
And that's that. -
FA's mitigation sucks. But claws has shockwave at 32. And focus at 18. Something my EM/FA never had.
Fiery Embrace+Followup+Fury buffing Spin/BlazingAura/Eviscerate/Shockwave/Burn?
Daaaaaaamn. -
Quote:Very interesting. Wonder why nothing shows up about that anywhere.
Taunt *does* in fact build Fury. Any attack, whether it is a primary, pool or temporary power grants the basic level of Fury, though most temp powers and inherent powers do not have the bonus Fury vs. Archvillains. -
My claws/ea is now 16. I promised myself I'd get it to 22 and SOs before deleting it if it still sucks then.
By 22 I'll have CJ and a steadfast on top of SO slotted EA, so I'll bet I find it usable at that point.
Someone somewhere said it was just like SR leveling up. This is flatly untrue.
With FF and FS, you're covered against ALL incoming attacks that have a melee or ranged positional component. In the low levels, that's practically everything.
With Kinetic and Power Shields, you're getting less value and are covered against less attacks. Taking the first 3 powers in each we get:
EA Values:
S/L 12.75
E: 16.875
F/C: 15
N: 10.5
S/L DamRes: 7.5
SR Values:
Melee: 13.875
Range: 19.5
S/L/F/C/E/N .33 points of DR for each HP below 60% health -
I want ice armor as well. Claws/Ice would be groovy. Specially with blue tinted talsorian claws.
-
Quote:Yes. It does suck. Transformations should be instantaneous. It's one of the reasons my PB was deleted at 50 and again at 30.
Got REALLY REALLY old. It's like the redraw effect on weapon sets times twenty.
It's why my WS is human only. I like running in dwarf form. I like blasting in nova. But the whole setup is so painfully inefficient that it loses its fun/cool factor VERY quickly. -
Quote:Correct. As per my last post, I use both. The Gaussian CFBU in Followup and the Decimation CFBU in Focus.I'm guessing that since Mids has no qualms with slotting both the GSFC and the Decimation versions that it's a viable option in game?
Edit: And the Achilles' CFDRD in Slash. -
I planned on /EA for my claws brute. She's level 11.5 right now. Her mitigation sucks.
Really sucks.
A lot.
No, really, I can't stress this enough: EA Really Freaking Sucks Large Battleships Through Straws Kind Of Suck.
It's like blaster a without any range using combat jumping as its only mitigation.
At 12 I'll be getting DOs and Combat Jumping. At 14 I'll get Power Shield instead of SJ. I'll be riding out my temp movement power for as long as I can. I currently have Kinetic Shield and Dampening Field with 3 TOs in each plus an end-red in KS.
If she continues to be as grossly pathetic as she is now after level 12, I'll be deleting her and going with something else. Maybe SR. I don't want another WP brute. I've already got 2 at 50.
EDIT: Yes, it will be better after I add SOs, energy cloak, tough and weave. Quite a bit better. I'll probably get a steadfast +def unique and slam it into Dampening Field when I log on tonight. That'll help as well. -

With that team you could crank up a brawl/swiss cheese brute and be safe.
That being the case, either of those secondaries are going to benefit nicely from the VEATs' team based buffs. The debuffs coming off of the two Cors would benefit any brute.
However, with that team makeup, you might want to lean on aggro control and AoE. In which case, the elec/shield would be a better choice of the two you presented.
