I'm Just Gonna Go Ahead and Ask
It wasn't a concept decision to pull claws/stone; it was based on the claws animations not working well with the Granite Armor, as the costume it gives you is actually a NPC model. Claw/stone was tested for most of the beta period, and this was what they ultimately decided to do.
BaB and the art team are looking at changing Granite (artwise), and if/when that changes, we're likely to see claws/stone return as an option.

Because that would be sweet Want proof?
I think that's all the people wanted to see...
Well I wanted to see it for myself and not just a picture ... ;-)
I see nothing wrong with that picture.
Well think of it a stone thing doing a flips in mid air? Just dosnt seem right.
The real question is :
"Why is a brute with eviscerate and granite armor killing goldbrickers?"
Doesn't Granite work with dual blades anyway? Though I've never seen a Granite using Typoon's Edge or 1K Cuts, I'm sure it looks equally hilarious.

I think their thought process was why can't a granite brute jump a curve but it can do a flip and slash some guys?? Though then one could say why can granite brutes do Tremor, Total Focus and Whirling mace/axe/FSC??
Not sure why they did this then!!!!
Level 50s: to many to remember at this point
A good reason might just because the claws dont look right because they just stick out of the granite armor weirdly.
Though then one could say why can granite brutes do Tremor, Total Focus and Whirling mace/axe/FSC?? |
Or something like that.
If it leads to a non-model shifting choice for granite armor and different animations for eviscerate... I'm cool with waiting.
EDIT: Not that I'll play stone armor until the -movement is yanked from rooted....
Be well, people of CoH.
I wanted to see the flip with rooted on...

Fortunately my tanker can still use Jump Kick while in Granite/Rooted. Which is nearly as ludicrous-looking with those toggles on as Eviscerate is.
...why no Claws/Stone?
When Claws was made available, it was inherently clear that you couldn't roll a Claws/Shield Brute (Until they make the 66 Month Vet Reward "Third Arm Mutation"). But I was perplexed when I flicked through the combos with Claws and saw that I couldn't choose Stone Armor. I mean, let's face it. It's a wacky, wonderful universe where people can have giant spines jutting out of their bodies yet be invisible, raise the dead and pelt your enemies with toxins, even merge with a freaky squid-thing and shoot lasers from your...tentacles.
But is an eight-foot-tall slab of granite doing a spinning flip while stabbing someone with a pair of knives attached to their wrists really that far-fetched?
Anyone have a rationale/conspiracy theory/idea/reason?
