GG, you might want to consider a Partial Radial Void. (i THINK thats the 1) It is the Dark Energy PBAoE but adds HUGE kb could be fun with MA... KB heavy as it already is, and adds another AoE

Would love to see a PBAoE power that pummels the ground with knock up and stun chances on one side of the tree. Or as I was telling a friend earlier, your character cannonballs onto the ground shaking it and everyone nearby.

Till then an effectless as possible void power may need to do the trick for one of mine.
This is exactly my quandary- my hero main, Benchpresser is simply a natural human tank (albeit a BIG natural guy) so I struggled a bit with Void. First I went with the most 'transparent' greys I could get from the "bright" pallet. I'm not exactly pleased with it, so I'm switching to bright and deep red, and RPing it as an extension of my SS's Rage.

But yes... a Groundpunch opotion would be superb!!
  3. Personally I'm hoping with I20.5 (or whatever they will call it) you see Threads drop outside the Trials. Thats my 1 and only complaint about the Incarnate content so far. They switched the reward at the end of Apex/Tin Mage to 2 Threads, there's no reason Threads can't drop from the STF, RSF, ITF and LGTF either!
  4. One thing I forgot to add... it seems your best chance to succeede is to form the League before entering the Turnstile. The good thing is I see no sign of the exclusion of any AT in forming, the Trials are equal to all.

Bingo, Liberty started gathering in Pocket D on day 1, last night it was the RWZ- and there was standing room only. I managed to get 1 BAF (a Success on my 1st try!) and 2 Lambdas (1 fail, 1 win). I now have Interface Tier 1 unlocked on both my Hero main and villain main (slotted even on my hero, with a Diamagnetic) and my villain has his Judgment unlocked as well, and 22-24% progress on his Lore and Destiny.

The best thing is all the while we were forming leagues, the Liberty global channels were full of people forming ITFs etc- so if Trials aren't your thing you weren't left out.

These Trials are FUN.. the only hectic parts were the race through Lambda for the Temps. Beyond that.. it was challenging, but just as fun as a RSF or anything else I've done. I20 is a success in my book! (Hell, my successful BAF was done with no deaths on my part, and only 2 deaths for me on the successful Lambda!)

Errr, not really. The times I've done them people have been more confused by Lambda than the BAF.
I admit, the sabatoge part of Lambda can get very very confusing, but I find the whole Trial falls into this pattern very nicely-

    1) Clear streets around sector
    2) Clear courtyard and Sentry Guns
    3) Upon entering Sector, defeat Guard EB and wait
    4) League Leader reorgamizes teams for sabatoge
    5) Teams split and make their runs for Temps as long as they can
    6) Once Marauder's arrival TPs you out, reorganize at door, those with Acid head toward gates while remainder of league gathers at Weapons drop point to get a few more temps.
    7) Marauder and Entourage (the part that still eludes me...)

So yes, 10 failed BAFs if you fail at stage 3 (you get around 10% towards the next slot at that point) is actually a legitimate number to unlock the Judgement slot.
Does it show that I've done Lambda a LOT more then BAF on test? My bad then.. you would think that both trials would unlock equally. Then again.... Lambda is a LOT harder then a BAF, so it sort of makes sense............

Still.. I think the 'rage' needs to chill for a bit.. at least 1-2 weeks till the full populace of the game shakes out the trials....

It will take you about ten failed trials to unlock one slot. There are four slots. You may die about a dozen times on each failed trial. I figure that about 300 suicides for a fully empowered character is about what the devs intended.

Congratulations. After hundreds of worthless deaths, now you're a hero. What was that old saying, a brave man dies a thousand times, a coward...no, wait, something's off there...
TEN failed trials to unlock 1 slot? What are you doing, door sitting? Please stop with the hyperbole. ONE failed Lambda and I got 40% towards my Interface slot. 2-4 fails, and you will have the slot open, plus either have or be close to the threads you need to craft your first boost. And gee... 2-4 failures is about what I had during the first week of the STF, RSF, etc. At least this time I'm getting meaningful progress even with fails.

10 failed trials and you'll likely have enough for a Tier 3 (possibly), and I wouldn't blame you for frustration, I would have it too and take a break from raiding at that point. But please don't muddle the issue saying that it takes forever to unlock 1 slot- it simply doesn't.

(FYI, that Lambda- that was with serious errors in the fail- we said the hell with getting any acid in the 2nd part, and then were curbstomped in the courtyard by massive spawns because we couldn't shut the portals down. Our mistake, but we learned, and like I said, got 40% which is a NICE amount)

No.. the 'new' softcap for the Trials is 59%

Until people start stacking bubbles or getting some Destiny-unlocked Barrier or Rebirth buffs.. it'll be a lil rough.

My Ivn is sitting at 52% S/L with 1 guy in range, and unless I stayed tied to our Kin on the 1 Lambda last night, the courtyard is a virtual deathtrap. I'm figuring that debuffs are the key here... the IDF base chances to hit are soooo high that we are better off debuffing how much damage take rather then worrying about not getting hit. I'm curious how a good Sonic or TA or Rad will boost Team survival in these- from my few runs lasyt night? A LOT!!!!
  11. What's expected is that there will be a LOT of failed Trials to starrt. It's a total shift in the level of foes you fight. I was on 1 Lambda tonight, we managed to get 9 Acid grenades and about 6 Pacify grenades in the run through, cleared the 10 'portals' easy, then got flattened totally by Marauder. (someone mistakenly led him out around the 6 minute mark so we failed that way) I learned a lot in the run. When you enter the Sector to do the sabotage, you HAVE to run from target to target- if you stand and fight, you will die, period. (Not something wer are used to with our level shifted 50s I bet)

I keep getting the feeling that these Trials will have a tipping point once some Incarnate Slots get unlocked and working. A couple Judgement Nukes and Destiny buffs will definitely help. Till then we just need to keep trying. I think Lambda is the better for learning.. parts can be very easy, and less people means less confusion on league chat.

FYI, even that failed Lambda tonight got me 40% Interface unlocked and 4 Threads, a couple days and I may have it slotted. Everyone needs to take a deep breath and hold judgement for a couple days till clear strategies develop.

(one I learned was clearing the courtyard AND the turrets before entering the Sector building is not only easy, but nets a decent amount of "IXP", so you always get something out of it.)

    *ramble mode off*

Actuaally he can do all the other ontent and unlock those slots. It just takes a lot of time. With Shards dropping all levels now, you can get enough to get 10 threads (by the conversion) a few times a week. 10 Threads equals roughly 32% Incarnate XP. So, it may take what, 4 days to unlock a Judgment or Interface? Then use the same conversions to start building the components needed for the powers- it's a slow but steady path...

The other Corps will very likely NOT be seen for while. Sinestro hasn't even fallen to form the Sinestro Corp, let alone the Blackest Night prophecy and Ganthet and Sayd's banishment- which is the trigger to them forming the Blue Power Ring.

If GL is a success and there's a trilogy like Hollywood wants, the Corps may arise in the 3rd movie, at lest an abridged telling of Blackest Night. Personally I want to see Rage of the Red Lanterns... Atrocitus could REALLY kick *** on screen.
  14. I think a lot of the ...'letdown' over I20 is because of the WAY it was hyped. When I20 was first talked about by the Dev team all we got was "it's going to be huge!" and comments like that. In hindsight, there's your problem. All the other 'huge!" issues for the game, like Inventions, the Rikti Invasion, Side-Switching/Praetoria affected all levels of characters. There were also other bits and pieces thrown into the mix. In essence, all the "game-changing" issues still had something for everyone, even if it was something simple like costume pieces or even converting Inspirations.

So when the playerbase heard another 'huge!' issue, thats what we all thought it was. That's where it fell through. The items in I20 ARE game-changing, are 'huge' in their own right. BUT apart from 2 TFs, it's entirely lvl 50 focused- entirely. That is a paradigm shift in issue design, and it's not well recieved by a lot of people, especially in a game that promoted alt-itis!!!! Even the Turnstile, which will eventually help in all levels of teaming, is right now only 50 focused.

Will it kill the game? Hardly. But it did burn quite a bit of.. playbase goodwill. I seriously hope the Devs are paying attention, because if I21 and 22 (I'm assuming the Praet storyline will be wrapped by then) are just as narrowly focused, then it WILL hurt the game severely.
  15. I also noticed the "website" area of the NCSoft launcher is blank saying website not available.

This is extremely frustrating. The forums seem to load today more consistently- after waiting 5+ minutes to change screens....

Dear lord... more servers means I need to expand out my tournament so I still have a team on every server... which means more spreadsheets... which means re-vamping the spreadsheets I already have...

Wait a second... but... but... would it be fair to the newer characters I create that they will be going up against veteran characters that have had so much more play time than them....?

    Oh no...
    WARNING!! WARNING!! head explosion imminent!!!!
  17. True, but Noble Savage said not "too" soon.. so I wasn't expecting to see a model so quick...
  18. On a related note...

I just watched the Teaser trailer for I20.. at 0:37 in.. there is a DP blaster shooting while using a jetpack.. is it me or is the Jetpack's colors matching his costume???? That's not normal! Could Jetpacks be closer then we think?
  19. Here's a short list of what was discussed- just my shorthand, but it gives the major points-

Global server list- YES, Euro and NA servers in 1 list!

    Beyond I20-

Keyes Island Reactors Trial- Fight Anti-Matter

Next is Underground Praetoria- stealth highly suggested-HAMIDON!!!! (Praet Hami was in Hibernation, waking up)

Underground Trial map "cool" with lots of glowing alien bits

(Passport badge asked about)- more info released Monday/Tuesday on Global Server access

Combining of Abilities (ala Oil Slick with Fire) will be followed up on

NPC villain costume pieces in near future. Any new NPC groups will be released with usable costume bits as well.

"Incarnate Trees will continue to expand and we'll continue to add more powersets and costumes as well"

Praetorian storylines post- level 20 will be expanded- "too cool to leave behind"

Customizable Epic Pool powers- "we are always trying to expand power customizations, and a lot of problems are with the UI. We are looking to do that though."

Updating old content with new tech? "Definitely something we want but just choosing which to do first..."

"Any solid plan to make Citadel less friggin repetitive?" Nate- "Shortly before joining Paragon I was on a 7-hour failed Citadel. It is definitely in the near-term" (personal note.. SEVEN HOURS and fail?? HOW????)

Jetpacks/backpacks are a definite, but won't be coming "too" soon.

Nothing for the Shadow Shard yet.. it has been discussed though
  20. Definitely a Brute, Scrapper, some defenders and a Stalker would be a great choice.

Stalkers are excellent soloers but still sadly suffer from the perceptions formed by early models of the AT from the launch of CoV. They can scrap with the best scrapper and are easy to master. Good starter Primaries would be Ninja Blade, Dark Melee, Elec Melee and Kinetic Melee. These all have built in mitigation that will help smooth the lowbie journey. Secondaries for a starter would be WP, Ninjitsu & Regen. Ninjitsu is your best bet, it's a "swiss army knife" of secondaries, a bit of everything and good at all of it.
  21. I run it about every other day. On my Dom.. hovering above BM spamming Ring of Fire and my longer ranged blasts. I have it down to about 1 death by Blue.. I find I die far more to the damn Hydra in the sewers. Honestly Apex is not that hard, and its fun as heck.
  22. 2 Quick questions-

    1) I have a shortcut set up to launch the game without the updater for the times when the old updater would break. Does anyone know if this will still work with this new launcher?

    2) Is the old CoH Launcher still usable? (I'd rather not install a new launcher and have it screw everything up potentially until AFTER the I20 sneak peek tonight!!!)
  23. Benchpresser

    Consume

My Fire/Fire/Fire has both, simply because my build allowed for it. However, if you had to choose, and your end management is good with Perma-Dom on top- then I'd definitely go Fire shield. I do notice the protection occasionally (mine only has the base slot as well) like tonight on an Apex I was pretty much able to ignore a lot of Battle Maiden's minions' crossbow shots because of FS.

Also- getting Fire Shield opens up Fireball and Rain of Fire, and for a FireX2 Dom? Six-slotting those 2 is soo fun it should be Criminal! (Flashfire+Fire Cages, then RoF, Fire Ball and Fire Breath, and the imps finish anything left ... glorious!)
  24. On Liberty-

    Captain Bulls-Eye (TA/A Def)
    Winter Justice (Cold/Ice Def)
    Cadaverous (Dark/Dark Corr)
    Savage Gentleman (DB/EA Brute)
    Grave Intent (Dark/Dark Brute)
    LukeWarm (Fire/Therm Troller)
    Kick Back (MA/WP Scrap)
    Knifeman (DB/WP Stalker)
    Infernal Ringmaster (DS/Term MM)
    Lounge Act (Sonic/Sonic Def)
  25. "I will not be defeated by you Mental Midgets!" - The Clockwork King at the end of Synapse.
