Consume

Hey folks, looking for advice from people experience with Doms. Building a Mind/Fire/Fire and at L 40. Just finished the patron pool.

I'm on the fence between taking Consume or Fire Shield. The power in question will be the L 49 power.

The build has good endurance management. The recovery is more than 2 End pts/sec more than used. The build also has perma Hasten and Dom, so the End bar will refill every time Dom recharges (76 seconds).

Consume would be single slotted, as would Fire Shield. So, I'd be looking at trading 27% S/L resistance for 24% End every 63 seconds.

Those who have played similar toons, is End such an issue or would adding S/L resist be beneficial since End is not an issue?

Id try to get both in there but i recomend fire shield if you can only get 1. My mind/fire only has about 1.4 end/sec to work with after toggles for the most part but thanks to dom he has some of the best end out of any of my toons.

If you never find yourself with a blue bar shortage, there's really no reason to have consume. It's hard to judge that until you have everything slotted up, though.

@Dysc, on virtue:
Virtue blues: Overnight (DP/MM), Kid Ridiculous (FC/rad), Panorama (Ill/time)
Virtue reds: Block Party (SS/SD), Goldcrush (earth/fire), Deadwire (claws/elec), Snowcrush (ice/kin)

On my perma-dom, I've found Scorpion Shield to be a lot more useful than Consume. Like you said, Domination is a free end refill pretty commonly, and you can usually pop a single blue to get by until it comes up. I keep Consume since it is useful when I need it, but I'd put a shield first unless you have dramatic endurance problems or really want to be able to go without worrying about endurance.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

My Fire/Fire/Fire has both, simply because my build allowed for it. However, if you had to choose, and your end management is good with Perma-Dom on top- then I'd definitely go Fire shield. I do notice the protection occasionally (mine only has the base slot as well) like tonight on an Apex I was pretty much able to ignore a lot of Battle Maiden's minions' crossbow shots because of FS.

Also- getting Fire Shield opens up Fireball and Rain of Fire, and for a FireX2 Dom? Six-slotting those 2 is soo fun it should be Criminal! (Flashfire+Fire Cages, then RoF, Fire Ball and Fire Breath, and the imps finish anything left ... glorious!)
