My level 21 (when the mission was taken; 22 when I got around to completing it) Soldier, a villain, was given the mission to defeat 20 Council from Lorenz Ansaldo.
Since the area you have to defeat them in is full of council somewhat higher than that, I figured I'd just team with the 35 villain on my 2nd account to give myself a bit of a level boost. I logged in, made them the leader, and proceeded to use the boost from SSK to beat up a bunch of Council. So far, so good.
As mentioned, this character is fully villain. So is the alt I logged in to with my second account. The alt happened to be in Pocket D, though.
When I defeated enough Council, the mission automatically chained to giving me the next one.
It put the door in Talos Island.
Not "Take this boat to Talos Island"; it actually starts in Talos Island:
Guess it's a good thing I'd planned to go Rogue anyway... -
Quote:My understanding was it was more to prevent 5 people all using the grenades at the same time and wasting them.I think it's rather silly to pile all the grenades on one player. What happens if they d/c? You've just lost your entire supply of grenades.
True, someone may forget to use a grenade if they have one when everybody keeps theirs, but letting Marauder be enraged 50% of the time is much better than 100% of the time, I think. (Of course, on a Master run you want to make sure none of the grenades are used, so however you want to handle it is fine.)
Related to that, I've seen cases where I'll go toss an acid at a door, and while my use of it is animating someone else comes up and uses their acid on the same door, wasting it. -
So if this is testing for simultaneous users, but I have to be at work during those hours, is it OK if I just log in (and start an O-arc so I don't get automatically logged out) before I go to work, and just leave it running?

I've been hearing about how Crabs are awesome at AoE and survivability, so I thought I'd try one.
I've been reading bits here and there (none of the guides I saw seem to have been updated recently) and I've been trying to plan one in Mid's.
There simply don't seem to be enough power slots available to take all the "if you skip this power you're an idiot" powers, let alone slot them all well enough.
What am I not getting? Are Crab builds really that tight, even with inherent fitness, that I can't afford to take a travel power and maybe one more non-essential power pool ?
Also, is it possible to build a good crab without spending billions on IOs? I can afford maybe a couple hundred million, but no way can I purple it out or anything. -
I <3 my elec/elec dom (my first dom to 50, actually). I took Thunder Strike, but don't really use it but once every few dozen fights; there's really no need to.
I keep it as a set mule to get me more global recharge (mine is currently 128.75 before I hit Hasten). With the ability to slot PBAoE, Stun and Knockback sets, there are 5%, 6.25%, 7.5% and 10% global recharge set bonuses available, depending on which bonus you don't already have five of and how many slots you can spare.
There are so many other awesome tools in the elec/elec toolkit that a single melee power being less-than-awesome should hardly be a deal-killer. -
Let's see... fixed numerical damage, not damage per second, added on per attack tick, causing quicker ticking attacks to become vastly more powerful than they should be.
Let's see, what does this remind me of... Oh yeah, the moss-covered twig.
(Yes, I know that's not a precise description of what's happening with Reactive, but the net result is close enough to make the point.) -
Further checking with other 84-month vet's I've run across points to this being an undocumented 84-month reward.
-
Nothing! (I know I can't be the only one who immediately thought of this, given that question.)
Seriously though guys, awesome job on not just keeping the game going but continuously adding big improvements. I've been here since the start, and while I've taken the occasional break (we all need a change of pace every now and again), I always knew I'd end up coming back. -
So I was taking my Praetorian Dominator (normally blueside) through redside to pick up a patron pool. Of course, when I switched I lost my title. I went to the trainer to get another, and saw this:
I haven't heard or seen anything else about this. Please oh please tell me this is not a bug.
Edit:
I have confirmed this option is available on every character I've tried on my main account (84 month vet) but none on my 2nd account (which isn't). I have also confirmed other people do see the title color I set. -
Quote:Yeah, the closest we have to that now is this; obviously, full paddle costume customization is needed. It would be like pong, except with an awesome costume creator for your paddle.
-
While leveling up my latest Praetorian alt, I went to give myself a title, and noticed a problem:
Too many titles to fit in the window, and no scroll bar to see the rest. -
With my fire/fire tank who recently finished enough to get everything unlocked, I've seen a couple common reward tables, I think two rare tables, and everything else uncommon; I've never seen a very rare or thread-only table, that I can recall.

Getting this as well on my desktop, which has a GeForce 260 core 216, Win7 64-bit, i7, and 6 GB RAM. (No dxdiag since I'm not in front of that system at the moment.) Has happened in everything from incarnate trials to the costume editor (in Founder's, so it wasn't exactly a high-traffic zone).
Rock solid in everything else, was rock solid in CoH until i20.
My laptop, GeForce 435M+Intel Graphics (with Optimus, which switches video cards depending on the app), Win7 64-bit, i5, 6 GB RAM, hasn't had this issue yet; however, the issue with Optimus graphics setups where CoH would use the NVidia card but only see the capabilities of the Intel card was resolved with i20, so I know that there were some changes in i20 with how CoH handles graphics. -

Happening to me as well. Wouldn't let me log in with anything except red-side (villain or rogue), but let me log in blue-side once I logged in then back out.
-
My first (and so far only) 50 controller is Plant/TA.

It took 20 posts before someone said that? First thing I thought of.
Anyway, since I first came up with "Balorn" (actually, it was created from Everquest's "generate name" button way back when EQ was new), I've thought of it as "BAY-lorn". However, it seems most people seem to say "bul-ORN" when they see it. I never bother correcting people on it, though; I don't consider it worth the trouble. -
Quote:Not by default, but it can; just change the extension to PSD when you're saving the file, and make sure Select File Type at the bottom is either "By Extension" or "Photoshop image".Well i'm pretty sure GIMP saves in .psd format and it's free to use.
Link for the lazy. -
Running into the same issue myself. City of Heroes is clearly using the NVidia graphics card (if I force it to use the Intel graphics even the character select screen has a noticeably lower quality, plus in-game I get very good framerates), it just doesn't realize it.

Male
Defender, Blaster, Scrapper, Brute and Mastermind. I like helping others, but due to my schedule soloability is very important.
Quote:3. Redside, blueside, purpleside, or any combination of the above?
...the Television arcs are great. I also thought the "destroyer of worlds" mission from Tina Macintyre was interesting.
A combination of the great player community, devs that actually communicate directly with players, and the ability to make each character unique.
Currently no other MMOs (though I've tried many), I currently play Civilization 5, Recettear, Team Fortress 2, and in general like JRPGs in the style of (earlier) Final Fantasy games, though I do like most generes except sports, survival horror and RTS.
On and off since release. Ive taken breaks from playing (I'm on one now actually) but have never let my subscription lapse.
Quote:8. How many alts do you have, what is the average level range, and how many are level 50?
To some extent, but I only bother trying to softcap already-defense-based characters like SR or Ice Armor; I don't bother with purples at all. I normally run default difficulty when soloing, with a very few exceptions up or down depending on the character. -
Found a few bugs regarding APP proliferation:
- Brutes have Earth Mastery:Salt Crystals listed (as the wiki says they should) but it can't be picked and the popup says "You cannot take this power because you are a Brute."
- Corruptor's Psychic Mastery:Mass Hypnosis has the same issue: "You cannot take this power because you are a Corruptor."
- Stalker's Darkness Mastery:Petrifying Gaze says "You cannot take this power because you are a Stalker."
Still, this is very much appreciated! Now I just have to wait for GR to actually hit live... -
I know I have a picture somewhere someone made of some of the changed hairstyles (Flip, Wedge and a couple others were changed). I'm still looking for it.
In the meantime, here's a fun example. Here is the first CoH character I ever created:
He's using the old "pointed ears" option, which we can remake with current ears options, so that's not a big deal. But he's also using the old style jacket and especially the old style pants that let us have different patterns on the upper and lower legs; here, he has flames on the lower legs and nothing on the upper legs, so the flames are shorter and not stretched out.
Here's what happens if I take him to Icon:
Yep. Aside from the colors they can't figure any of it out.
Edit: Here's the picture showing the hairstyle differences:
The Wedge style didn't originally have a peak in the front center; the banks went basically straight across. The Flip style is extremely different. -
I'm glad it's not just me - as a break from blue side I made a bots/traps MM this last weekend, and over the course of the last couple days I kept thinking to myself "I don't remember bots being this hard to control" and "I could have sworn they didn't used to die so fast". I had noticed they would run to melee regardless of goto commands, but I figured maybe I just hadn't set my macros up right or something. This really explains a lot.

I suggest this.
Set one of the G-keys to something you don't use, then make a bind of that key to what you want.
For example - set the G-key to Ctrl-k, and type this in-game:/bind ctrl+k beginchat /send "channel" -[$name, $level]-
That way you don't have to worry about timing or if you've already hit enter or whatever else can mess up a long G-key bind like that.

Ages ago I my FF defender would occasionally get kicked for not being a healer; thankfully that's pretty rare now.
My Fire/Fire tank was kicked from a forming ITF for being fire/fire but not being fully IO'd out (I was not the main tank, but the leader decided even having a non-IO'd fire tank on the team at all was a liability).
Those are the only times I can recall getting kicked for a build, but I do put my primary/secondary in my search comment.
I also got kicked once for saying it was stupid to exit and reset a mission we were a couple rooms into just because another person joined the team.
