It may have gotten lost in the shuffle a page or two back, so I'll repeat my question without the fluff.
Question: Will it be possible to delete a character from a locked slot without first unlocking that slot?
The reason for this question is that a scenario could arise in which slots become "trapped" for a Premium player because they contain a locked AT. From Zwill's earlier post, we know they can't unlock the slot because of the AT, so they need to be able to delete the character in order to use a Slot Token on the slot.
This won't affect me personally, since I expect to continue subscribing and have more than enough years in regardless. It's just a technical issue that I hope has been addressed. -
Quote:I think this is predicated on the assumption that they will release exactly the same amount of "durable" items in the first year after Freedom launches as they did in the past year. However if, at any point, I run out of points then the conclusion is obviously the opposite, yes the game has cost me more than it did during a year when a full boxed expansion was released.
Say that in your calibration period, you bought N packs (where N is all of them, I suppose) and spent £50 on them.
If, in the first year after Freedom launches, they release a sum of goodies (costume pieces, emotes, prestige powers, etc) into the store that is equivalent to N+1 packs, and you come up £5 worth of points short of buying everything, is it really costing you more in proportion to what you're getting?
Conversely, if they only stock N-1 packs' worth of stuff in the store, and you exactly use up all your points in the store, you're paying an equal amount for less.
Sure, in absolute terms, to buy N+1 stuff, you'd be spending more, or buying N-1 stuff for the same price. If that's what you want to demonstrate, that's fine--your experiment will accomplish that. I'm not sure it's really a valid comparison, though. -
Quote:This gives rise to a question:[*]Bob the COH Player played COH for 3 months. Bob made a MM during that 3 months. Bob's MM is locked for play and cannot be selected as one of his characters to use a Global Character Slot Token on.
Can you delete a character that is in a locked slot without first unlocking the slot?
Here's the weird scenario:
Let's say Bob was completely obsessed with MMs during his 3 months, and all of his friends play exclusively on Victory, so he only wants to play there. He was flush with cash during those three months, and bought a bunch of slots. In fact, he's filled every possible slot on Victory with a MM. (What? I said he was obsessed.)
For whatever reason, he has to let his subscription lapse. Fortunately, Freedom comes along, and he can play again. The time away dampened his enthusiasm for MMs, so he doesn't want to pay to unlock the AT, but he still only wants to play on Victory. He's got plenty of Slot Tokens...but every slot has a MM in it, so he can't unlock any of them.
So, can he clear the MMs out of the slots without unlocking them, or is he stuck?
(I do software testing. Coming up with oddball corner cases is kind of a habit.) -

Quote:That was my first thought, but Rajani Isa has a point--the waiting room is probably too small if we want everyone to be in one instance. If anyone hasn't said it yet, what about using the old Arena waiting room?
It could be the foyer, though. Maybe they could have copies of other small maps or map sections linked to it via little glow-spot portals like the ones in the Shard zones. Use distinctive map sections, so people can specify which "room" they're gathering in, and add a few amenities in there. You could have the Library (a copy of the university or the library section of the Midnighter map), the Mole Point, and the Rave (the old Paragon Dance Party map), for instance. -
The Steam Shogun is going to get a makeover, and Earl Cheatham will likely get some new touches. I may even revamp Captain Zeppelin, even though I never play him, just to have an excuse to play with the new toys some more.
Jay dropped in to threaten the T rating of the marathon Ustream while the servers were down, so he's still lurking about. -

Huh. I don't remember performing any dark rites this morning....
Seriously, I clicked a link on the first page of the forum to read the last page of the thread, then replied without noticing the date on Ice_Wall's post. At least, I thought I did. But there's nothing between Sam's old post and my new one.
How did I get here, and why am I wearing this lampshade? -
Quote:Quite the opposite. Prometheus currently advises us to fight the Praetorians, and claims that there's no point in even discussing the Coming Storm until Cole is dealt with.I'm fairly certain in the game the coming storm has been revealed to be the Praetorian invasion. I swear I remember seeing that in one of the new missions or TFs.
Quote:* So, Mender Ramiel mentioned The Coming Storm...
Did he now? Well, in all fairness to Mender Ramiel, he should be focusing on getting you prepared for the challenges you face right now. Whether we will face The Coming Storm or not is as yet unwritten. The need to face Tyrant is already upon us, and that is where my current focus lies. -
This thread makes me wish I had stuck an "A" in front of my Willpower tank's name, "Regular Joe".

Well, Eiko-chan and warden_de_dios at least got part of what they wanted--Clarion can provide squishies with perma mez protection. Even near the end of the duration, it's still fairly effective.

Especially since my homemade burgers are better than any I've ever bought anywhere--not to mention being quicker than waiting in that line. I mean, I knew I lived among crazy people, but it's still disconcerting to have my nose rubbed in it like that video does.

While I like the idea of In-N-Out, I have to consider the fact that the Frisco location is only about a block from Five Guys. Which is to say, it's practically across the street from a place that already has good burgers...and bacon. (Not to mention Cajun fries.)
I'll give it a fair chance, trying out a few variations, but it's going to need to impress me pretty quickly. -
Quote:This fix does not sound like a general lag fix (which may not even be possible). It's a fix for a specific thing (or a number of related things) that are causing extreme lag in league events. I would not expect it to improve things in relation to pre-league lag; I don't know that anything short of a major engine overhaul or replacement could do so, and maybe not even that. Please FOR THE LOVE of GOD! Don't just fix it in trials. Fix it in everything. We had this problem in shipraids and hamiraids all this time and now that you are going to fix it for trials please fix it for everything and not just trials. The lag has gotten WORSE since issue 20 release in things that have had the lag problem all this time anyway. We've waited and waited very patiently for years to see this fixed.
I beg you to not just fix this problem in trials fix it in everything and you will make alot of people very very happy. -

Quote:I have the impression that removing your Alpha power from the slot, then re-slotting it reactivates it, but I need to check that more carefully. If it does, it might also be useful to try re-slotting it after dying, but before reviving, to narrow down exactly when the power is nullified. I suspect that it's on revival (and that other buffs like Mystic Fortune and Secondary Mutation are being stripped at the same time).[*]Alpha Slot Issue in Incarnate Trials - We're currently investigating an issue where players have reported losing their Alpha Slot Boost after dying in an Incarnate Trial.
In other news, I'm also getting frequent crashes when exiting a trial instance. -
I noticed this, too. Not only was my endurance running down faster (I had never run out with my T4 Cardiac in place before), but I noticed my range coming up shorter than I've become used to. It was especially noticeable on my cones.

Quote:How about jumping on the "You don't know what irony is!" bandwagon by chiding someone for jumping on the "You don't know what irony is!" bandwagon, when they appear to actually be agreeing that an ironic circumstance is, in fact, ironic? Is that ironic, do you think? What's ironic is that you seem to not know what IS actual irony if you think that firespray's use of the word is incorrect. Just to break it down yet again for those who seem to love jumping on the "you don't know what irony is!" bandwagon, simplistically speaking, irony is an incongruity between something that is said, expected, or believed, and the reality of a situation.

Besides, when he's Unstoppable, my main only has one power that does more than 1 point of damage to him. If Dominate is recharging, and all my buffs are recharging, and no one needs a heal at the moment, why not put up a light show?

"Deserve's got nothing to do with it."
Are you in the right place, at the right time? Is a destiny unfolding around you, all unnoticed? When the world teeters on the edge of the doom, one person can determine whether it stands or falls--yes, even if that person is a self-loathing bird boy or transmogrified cow.
Look at the Incarnates already in the world. How did they merit their status?
- Marcus Cole was an arrogant thief, effectively crippled by damaged lungs, when he became an Incarnate.
- Stephan Richter was a brutal thug, reasonably strong and clever, but hardly superhuman.
- Hero 1 was a rough and tumble bloke from the streets of London, showing no real signs of his fae ancestry, until a watery tart lobbed a sword at him.
- Hamidon Pasalima was a mad scientist who turned to dark magic because his science alone wouldn't get him what he wanted. Honestly, given that he was a genius mad scientist before Incarnation, he was probably the most "worthy" of the lot.
Do they sound like people who would go on to shape the fate of the world? Ultimately, your character's fate is up to you. If you don't believe a Glorious Destiny (which, as Mercedes Lackey has pointed out, usually involves a Glorious Funeral) is in the cards for the character, don't pursue Incarnation for them.
For that matter, you could decide that Incarnation has nothing to do with destiny, glorious or otherwise, and treat Incarnation as simply a natural growth of the character's own power--in that case, it hardly matters whether they deserve it or not. - Marcus Cole was an arrogant thief, effectively crippled by damaged lungs, when he became an Incarnate.
