People do this already anyhow. They make a build with mids character designer, then they follow the build exactly.
This idea would just allow the system to level you up, according to the build you select. It prevents accidental wrong power choices, it eliminates the need to travel to a trainer (remind me - why can we not just do that over the phone anyhow??).
And ask yourself, you agree that exporting builds would be a good idea... But what logical purpose could that serve, if there was not a mechanism for importing it back in?
You agree that it would be a good mechanism to have for respec's. Well, essentially, a respec is identical to the auto level up. Only difference is that you gain all the levels in the build at once, where as during the leveling process, you gain them pro rata.
I mean... Costumes can be exported, and imported (on character creation).... why not this?
You also say why would you want to make a clone build wise?
I ask you this...
Why would the developers want us to make a clone costume wise.... Surely that is even more pointless.
The idea of having a build export/import system is not that everyone has to use it, it would only be there, for the people who did want to use it. -
I disagree with the idea that the animation suggests the origin.
I mean, how many 'Magic Gravity Controllers' have you seen?
When I said Gravitational Effects, I merely meant maybe having some sort of physics effect that affects props and debris.
Eg - Make Leaves swirl around you, make debris fly towards you.
Granted, as for the arguement put forward about lag and such.
Gravitational Effects on props are all done Client Side - No Network Lag - Thats why when you throw a Propel Prop - Everyone sees a different object.
As for Graphical Lag - Thats what the slider option is for in the game options, turn it down, and laggy effects wont bother you.
If developers keep developing content and effects that are fine tuned for peoples lower end machines, and ignore the capabilities of people who actually spend money getting good graphics cards, then they are pretty much not aspiring to create a better game, but are instead allowing it to fall behind the competition. -
Will anyone ever try to change the teleport animation?
I think it is kinda tacky and not exactly impressive, especially when the graphic technology of today is capable of so much more.
Eg - Where are the distortion effects, rippling effects, gravitational attraction to near by props. I know we are not exactly working with the source engine here, but surely something can be done with particle effects to add some sort of distortion effect that is transparent, but makes it look like space is bending in towards you, then a bright light and you are gone, and to make it even better looking, after you are gone, the distortion effect relaxes, in an almost elastic manner, slingshotting back to its normal look, and then vanishing - Without a trace.
Also - Has anyone ever seen in the game data files, a power icon under gravity control called Fold-Space.
It has similar icon to teleport, but is different from the icon to Wormhole (in case anyone was thinking thats what it is)
Here is the Icon for it... Some people have said that it was actually replaced by Singularity at the end of beta, or come issue 2. Can anyone confirm? Some people said it was going to be an assemble the team type power in gravity control.

Now that we have the ability to have multiple Builds. Why not grant players the ability to export them.
Eg - Level 50 player exports his build, then starts a new character, loads the build into his character. This does not level him up to 50, but instead allows his power choices and enhancement slot choices to be automatically distributed to match his lvl50 build plan.
Multiple options could be enabled - Eg Completely Automatic (All Enchancement Slots and Powers are chosen according to the loaded build) - Power Auto (Only power choices are automatically chosen) - Enhancement Auto (Enhancement Slots are automatically distributed, as closely to the build as possible, where the power does not exist, according to the build, manual distribution is granted.)
An added benefit for this is....
Because the choices are made for you, automatically... what is the point in having to go to the Arbiters, or Trainers to level up. You could exchange your customizability (is that even a word) for the ability to auto-level up even in missions.
Eg - You go ding in the mission, and your new power + enhancement slots are available right away - Power made available would be the power that comes next in the build plan.
In order to make it more interesting, we could make this so that the leveling build is like a pact of sorts.
Eg - You can only enable it from character creation, but... you can set what level it stops affecting you at.
So, from levels 1 - 20 you could let the leveling build system control your power distribution according to your build loaded, then after level 20, it relingquishes control, and you resume leveling up at arbiters and trainers as normal. Meaning you can now diverge onto a new custom build.
What does everyone thing?
I mean, after all, builds is something that is already exchanged on the web, players would normally have to make the power selections themselves though. With this system, we are just making life easier for people who don't want to have to run all the way to an arbiter to level.
Note - We can now export our costumes... why not our power selection/level build for use, or even to share. -
The way I see it, my end recovery is 2.70 per second, that means that every 4 seconds I get about 10 endurance, slightly more.
But, with this proc, Every 10 seconds, when I would be getting about 20 endurance, or maybe 25, I would be getting a possible extra 10 endurance.
So potentially, I could earn 35 endurance, in the same amount of time to earn 25. And like you said, it could save your life after you fire your nova powers, and are left with no endurance recovery. -
I read elsewhere on this forum that properties from Numina's and Miracle (+ recovery and regen) can be made permanent if slotted into health, or any other auto power.
However.... How about Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance being slotted into Stamina?
The way I was explained it, was that Numina's and miracle, grant 120 seconds of increased regen/recovery everytime it fires, and apparently the power fires every 0.2 seconds on a tick rate.
So... in theory, the same should be for Stamina, so, for stamina, the tick rate would be about 0.2.
Does this mean that if I slotted Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance into stamina, there would be a 20% chance that I would regain 10 endurance on each tick?
I might have some numbers wrong here, but could someone let me know if this would work?
In theory, if you were exceptionally lucky, you could get this proc fireing multiple times in a row, in an auto power, restoring your endurance exceptionally fast.
In theory at least.
Let me know if anyone has tried this. -
Yeah, thats what I meant, I know elusive mind only provides defense against Psi, but at the same time, I went to Perigrine Island, to the monkey Island, and I touched down, and turned on Elusive mind, and practically none of their Psionic Blasts hit me. Without Elusive Mind, they were very accurate.
It came out wrong the way I said it yesterday.
What I meant was 'Psionic Blast is both Psi and Ranged'
I guess the Psionic Defense is enough to protect against it, regardless of a 'ranged' attack type being on the power. -
Think this would be too controversial origin or AT.
Some people would find angels and demons too religious, and may find it objectionable to their own religous beliefs.
Its like someone making a character called 'God' and then portraying God to be a ******.
I myself dont have a problem with it, but I can see where some people might not like their religious icons being represented in a game.
Plus, angels arent recognised in all religons, so, making them recognizable in a game would be like ncsoft endorsing that religon. -
Cool, its nice to know.
Although, i noticed that that elusive mind accoladge makes it really hard for psionic powers to land. Ranged / Psionic as well. -
Whoops - Anyhow.... found out that the 3 set buff for the Purple IO for holds gives.
Recovery +4%
and
Fire & Cold Resist 2.52%
Which brings my Recovery Rate (bonus) upto 24% extra.
24% of my base recovery rate (1.75) = 0.42 endurance per second.
So, add these two together, and we get 2.17 end per second, now we add in stamina. I cant remember the exact figure of Stamina, but it adds at least 0.6 i think to end recovery.
So potentially I get 2.77 end recovery per sec. I need to double check this though. -
Hi Guys, I leveled up to lvl50 a day after xp weekend on my first SoA.
While I cant remember what level I took my powers at, I can remember what they were.
Melee>>>>
Follow Up
Strike
Widow Training>>>>
Widow Training - Defensive
Indomitable Will
Foresight
Fortunata Training>>>>
Mental Blast (Remember that this has 6 slots in it)
Telekinetic Blast
Subdue (Remember that this has 6 slots in it)
Psychic Scream (Remember that this has 6 slots in it)
Dominate
Scramble Thoughts
Psionic Wail (Remember that this has 6 slots in it)
Fortunata TeamWork>>>
Mask Presence - 4 Slots (I think)
Mind Link - 2 Slots :-(
Confuse - 3 Slots
Vengeance (about 4 or 5 slots) (I think)
Power Pools
Fitness>>>
Swift (flight)
Health (2 slots)
Stamina (2 or 3 slots)
Travel Power>>>
Hover
Flight
Patron Powers>>>
Soul Mastery
Soul Tentacles - 3 slots
Dark Obliteration - (Think its either 3 or 4 slots)
Summon Widow - 2 Slots
Ok, basically, What I have planned, and have begun implimenting is filling my lvl50 with as much purple IO's as possible. (Feel free to donate them to me for free Lol.)
I have already got 5 of Apocalypse in Subdue. (It is ranged Damage, I could have put it into Mental Blast, but Mental Blast has a smaller damage potential)
(Bonus so far
Regen - 16%
Health - 3%
Damage - 4%
Recharge Rate - 10%
Need one more IO from this set to get Psi Defense + 5%)
I will then put Hecacomb Melee Purple IO's into Strike.
(recovery +4%, fire+cold resist +2.52%, acc +15%, recharge +10%, and toxic resist +5%)
I can get 3 Coercive Persuasion into Confuse. (4% Recharge, and 4% to confuse durations)
I will put Ragnarok Aoe IO's into Psychic Scream - all 6. (Recovery +4%, fire and cold resist 2.52%, acc +15%, recharge +10%, and toxic resist 5%)
I will be able to get 2 Soul Bound Allegiances into my Summon Widow power, which will give me Regen +16%.
Armageddon into my Psionic Wail - All 6 gives - Recovery 4%, fire cold resist 2.52%, acc +15%, recharge +10%, and toxic resist +5%.
I cant remember if I forgot any of them, oh, suppose I could get 3 Gravitational Anchors into Soul Tentacles, and that would give me another 4% to Recovery, and andother 2.52% to fire and cold resist.
All in all, my total set buff from these purples should be... as far as I know...
Recovery (endurance recovery) - 20%
Fire & Cold Resist - 9.78%
Accuracy - +45%
recharge rate - reduced by 40% (like perma speedboost speedboost gives 50%)
Toxic Resist - 15%
Regen - 16%
Health - 6%
Damage - 8%
Psi Defense - 5%
I think it will take me about 3 months to get all of these, before I do so, does anyone have any suggestions about alternative power choices. I do know that I should have devoted more slots to Mind Link, but I am quite happy with it. After I have all my Purples, I plan on filling in with other set enhancements too.
Has anyone completed such a task, and can they let me know how effective it makes your characters? I have noticed a significant change since I got Apocalypse.
Thanks all.
(Please be gentle)
Just remembered - I can get 3 Purple IO's into Dominate too...
Not sure what the bonuses would be though. -
Was just going by what city of data said.
It listed the power as being unstackable i think (last time I checked anyhow)
Either way, in short, vengeance from widow training is more potent. -
Ok, I didnt know the exact figures, but its true, it does get you up to about 70+% resistance when you are very vey low on health.
And with enough defense, surviving just one blow can make the difference between dying horibly, or surviving long enough to pop a insp to heal. -
Has anyone ever suggested that flight gains momentum? Eg - Longer you fly in a given direction, the faster you start to go?
Also, does it not strike anyone as strange, that falling, makes you go faster than flying downwards?
Surely downward motion should be allowed at the very least to go faster. (Granted - I can see people taking advantage of this by zig zagging up and down to get speed as they travel accross the map) -
Cool, cause I was in a duel with a night widow, who was bragging that his elude would make it impossible for me to hit him.
Yet every single one of my Psionic Fortunata attacks hit him.
He died fairly quickly, or retreated, only to die while running. Lol.
Im guessing that elude protects against ranged, and melee, but might not protect against psionics.
It makes sense I guess, after all, how do you dodge a 'thought based projectile that is homing in on your brain'. -
If an attack is ranged, and Psionic, does it get protected defense wise by something that protects against one?
Eg - I notice that Foresight gives protection (defense) against Ranged, Aoe, and Melee.
But I also notice that Psionic Defense is a separate beast on its own. Would this defense number come into effect against a psionic dart, the same way it would against a lightning bolt?
Just wondering if Melee, aoe, and ranged are the main 3 attack groups, and then psionic would be a sub group of those 3?
Does Foresight's defense bonus protect against psionic darts, since these too are ranged attacks. -
Granted, wouldnt want to be too powerful due to buffs from costume.
But perhaps small buffs would be ok?
Take into consideration, how rare these costumes would be, and that multiple parts of these costumes would be required to get ANY buff. -
Cool, thx.
I did think of that as well, the problem of look-a-likes.
I thought originally of a way to compensate, by making costumes slotable, but the danger then, is that it is too similar to power slotting.
We wouldnt want that.
If you think about how rare these things would be, not everyone would have them, or be able to afford them.
Have you ever played a game called Sacred?
Players would scour the world looking for sets / green items. Sometimes taking months to get a whole set.
Perhaps look-a-likes is a necessary evil. Im not sure how to eliminate this as a problem.
But, on that note, some people might like to mix sets?
Eg - Gloves, aura and Torso from Dark Seraphim to get
2 - Recovery 2.5%
3 - Accuracy 6%
and
Head, Wings from Firey Embrace to get
3 - Recovery + 3%
Totaling - 6.5 Recovery & 6% Acc bonus.
Obviously if the devs ever chose to go along with this idea, they would have more chance to diversify it all.
There could be sets for healing characters, sets for buffing, sets for controllers, for blasters, maybe some for epics too.
Examples of Healing sets could be Doctors Outfit - Gloves, Torso, Head, and Head Misc. Increase Healing 5% and such.
Kheldians outfit bonus's could be along the lines of providing some mitigation of the void rifle damage. Not wanting to totally remove the damage like, but in all fairness, VEATS dont have to live with this problem. Perhaps a 10% damage mitigation to void rifle blasts., or perhaps something that would be benefical to them when shapeshifted.
Eg - One costume set that provides bonus for nova form, and another costume set for dwarf form bonus.
VEATS - Particularly Widows and Fortunatas have a lack of costume diversity when it comes to the claws. Perhaps some widow orientated Costume Parts relating to signature villain Ghost Widow, or Red Widow, or anyone else.
Im actually getting quite into this idea. It has lots of potential for furthering a characters prowess. Eg - Like the invention system did. -
OMG - You are totally underestimating the value of this power.
I cannot stress how valuable it is.
The lower your health is, the more resistance you have to EVERYTHING.
This means Fire, Cold, Toxic, Smashing, practically everthing.
When you get to about 70% health, you will notice about 12% smashing resist (thats all I monitor really), then at 50% it will be about 30% then at 25% health you will get about 50% resist, and when you are at about 10% health, you will get about 70% resist. This power can totally save your life.
You will loose count of the number of times that you have survived a team massacre (team gets killed, but you survive).
I managed to stand up against Numina, who was a hero, but granted 3 levels below me. (Team got killed, and I went on, and kept alive until the team got back to health).
All because of this power, with high enough regen, and decent defense, you can be practically unstopable. Defense makes it harder for them to hit you, resistance increase means that even if they do hit you, it does less damage.
In the end, when you are down to about 25% health, against most mobs, you will find that your regen can start to heal you, because 1) They can barely hit you because of defense, 2) Their Damage is too low to dent you.
An attack that would do 76ish damage, would be reduced to about 20ish when you are at a quarter health. In all honesty, this power is one of the reasons you receive the same patron powers as a brute would. It provides more resist in one power than any other power that I know of. Granted, you have to be low health to receive that bonus. But Still....
I hope you discover its usefulness yourself.
If you are ever about, look my Fortunata up - Orici. -
Well, as far as I know, they only do that when you are near them, I mean for a zone wide sort of thing.
Just some publicity. It cant hurt to have npcs talking about your accomplishments. I mean after all, there is a newspaper in the game, and npcs walk about reading newspapers, its just natural for another player to hear about your success at a tf/sf from an npc, regardless of if you are nearby or not. -
Someone asked about vengeance.
I think the Pool Power vengeance gives a damage bonus of about 18 - 25% (cant remember exact figure) but I do know that Fortunata Vengeance gives 35%.
While it is impossible to stack two identical Vengeance buffs, I think it might be possible to stack pool power vengeance with fortunata vengeance - if used by different individuals off course. The Icons for both can both appear on ur hud, if you time the casting down to the milisecond. Otherwise, the second buff icon wont appear if the first is there.
I find that I dont really need Manuvers - Foresight is generally enough when used with indomitable will, Combat Training - Defensive, and Conceal Presence.
I find that I generally have a defense to most attacks of about 30-40%, and if teamed with other SoA, I am getting defense ratings of 70+. (Once was on a team with 6 Wolf Spiders, and another widow).
Even if my Defense isnt high enough, my Foresight makes me more resistant to damage the less my health gets. Meaning that it gives me more time to survive, kill mobs, or run away.
I've managed to survive battles with about 4 health remaining, reason being, my resistance to ALL went up to 70+%.
Dont underestimate ForeSight, it has saved my life sooo many times. -
I have an idea for what could happen after strike forces are successfully completed.
Eg- If you are a hero, and complete a Task Force, not only do npcs speak dialogue when you walk past, but the npcs of the entire zone might react to the fact that you have saved terra volta, perhaps a parade or something?
The Parade could occur in a random zone.
For the Villain equivelant, there could be more NPC protests in a zone, eg - like in mercy island.
NPCS could speak, and shout about the player, or players who completed the tf/sf. Perhaps vocalizing triumphant victories.
Eg - Perhaps the system can record the sf/tf and determine the most amount of enemies that the player killed in a single blow. (pbaoe) and then the npcs can say "I heard Baaleos Killed 14 freak's in one go.".
Also, wouldnt it be nice if some sort of temporary buff was granted for a short duration after the sf / tf. Perhaps a recharge reduction of 20% for 24 in game hours.
Perhaps it can be dependant on the story of the Arc in question. Eg - Magic TF = Magic Origin characters get a buff. -
Has it not been stated before that Incarnet is not an archtype, but an origin?
Eg- Incarnet are people who got their power from the Well of Furies, therefore, that is their Origin?
If anything, surely that would just grant an inherent power, like any other AT.
Maybe in the extreme case of Recluse and Statesman, it grants + Resist to Everything by 40%, +health by 50% and damage + accuracy 50%, regen 50%. -
Has it ever been suggested that Costume parts eg- Aura's and such be recipie'd?
EG - some Rare Recipies that give really rare Aura's. Or some heavilly customizable Auras or Costume Parts.
Perhaps Purple Class (To mirror Purple IO's) Costume parts that give similar Set bonuses to the player when worn.
This could give people the ability to switch their costume for the situation that they are in.
Eg - If I am going into Recluses Victory, then I could Swap into my PVP garment, which grants perhaps a percep+, damage+, recovery+ and regen+.
Or, if I am up against some Lost Bosses that use Holds, then I can change into my costume that protects against holds, or provides resistance to them.
Sometimes I think the creators forget, we arent just wearing skin tight lycra, some of us wear armour on our characters, perhaps we should be allowed to have some sort of defensive or resistance buff associated with them, or be allowed to slot our costumes to a degree?
Anyhow... i've gone off on a rant...
Suggestion - Recipies that provide rare costumes, that can provide a set bonus when worn.
eg - Gloves + torso + wings - (Insert nice Buff Here)
I have some Ideas for Costume Set Names.
Dark Seraphim - Torso, Gloves, Wings, Aura.
Set Bonuses
2 - Recovery 2.5%
3 - Accuracy 6%
4 - Psi Resist 6%
Firey Embrace - Gloves, Head, Torso, Wings, Aura
(Description - Firey Wings (eg - boney with flames coming off them), aura which resembles a mix between tendrils and flames. Flaming Tendrils?, Head - Demonic Vissage, gloves - Cloven Claws)
Set Bonus
2 - Fire Resist + 10%
3 - Recovery + 3%
4 - Mez Protect + 2
5 - Chance to Ignite Targets 10% -
Ok, When Heroes came out, first we got epic powersets, then we got epic Archtypes.
Now Villains have also got epic powersets, and now epic archtypes. But what is left to be granted?
Do you think it would be possible to create a 4th powerset accessible to players? This one grants only 1 power?
Eg - Epic power sets allow a choice of 4 powers, and its possible to get them all, perhaps an epic-epic powerset that grants a choice of multiple powers, but only allowed to have one of them?
Granted, there would be balancing issues.
Im interested to know what there is to do after getting a lvl 50 hero then lvl50 kheldian, then lvl50 villain, then lvl50 VEAT - perhaps a new powerset for lvl50 epic AT's would be nice?
Is this at all feasible?
