I dont think anyone cares about single-target knockback. What everyone hates are AoE knockbacks, and I for one would love to see them vanish from the game. I'd love to see all KB become KD; and I am someone running an elec/elec Brute, so there you go. That would not nerf Lightning Rod one BIT.
-
Quote:*shrug* Whichever power[s] Storm people have that cause KB, are invalidated with the effect under discussion; and that is just all right with me. My Meleers have absolutely left teams in which we have a Storm person griefing the team with incessant KB.Hurricane does repel as well. Different effect.
So, Ha-ha right back to you.
This change being made permanent, or electable re the gull, would probably also result in fewer people thinking "oh, nooooo" to themselves every time a Warshade or PB gets invited to the team. -
Quote:Damn straight its being cheered by meleers. Maybe until it gets fixed, my melee people will be more interested in teaming. Right now they're pretty 'meh" about it. Not to mention this is a pretty sweet "HA-HA!" to every Storm person out there who bleepin' REFUSES to turn off Hurricane. Invalidated, and it feels so good!Of the many bugs plaguing this release of CoH, the one that makes me the saddest is the Knockback bug.
It appears that someone dropped a decimal point when figuring knockback, causing all knockback to be scaled down to (almost, but not quite) zilch.
The really, really sad part as that this was being cheered by many meleers.
Not to mention if it stayed permanent, I might actually roll some sets I've avoided till now, because I know incessant KB is annoying to teammates. -
Thanks developers, for fixing the levitating and non-color-tintable bat cape-brooch. Nice! Much appreciated!
Now.... can we pretty-please-with-pink-sugar on top, get the original red-lipstick-and-beauty-mark Victorian face added to the creator as an option?
And how about adding a glowing-eyes option to the bat aura? Both of those things would be pretty sweet. -
Quote:Upon reading this screed of yours, I could make several most pithy replies - but will refrain since my thoughts are against forum rules. I'll just say this though: every time you post, I display the Malleus badge on yet another alt.For some reason, even though they're very similar, I find pilgrim hats look rather silly, but witch hats look rather cool - I think it's probably the lack of a pointed top, compared to the pointed top - along with the wearers not being such nice people

People who have been paying their subs all along should have preference over people gone for several years. Yes! I dared to say it!
If someone has been gone for years, the name should be up for grabs now. Think of it as yet another VIP privilege. -
Quote:I am tired of hearing that it is "impossible" to do this or that based on what is in the game now. All they would have to do is create new hand artwork to go with that specific thing: the new claws would also have new hands! One set new male hands, one set new female hands, one set both male and female monstrous hands, one set of huge hands. Done!"Standard code rant."
Something important to remember is what is or is not possible within a certain game, based on said game's design foundations. Natural claws, for example, are darn near impossible because a) we do not have fingers and b) they would require reworking all of the claw animations with an open-hand-no-weapons animation. Doable, of course, but probably low on the priority list.
And before I hear any squeaking about "OH WE CAN'T DO THAT!" allow me to remind you that we have new female torsos with new, improved cleavage instead of sporting two boxes on one's chest as we did back in the day. However you can only get that new cleavage by using a few NEW torsos. You want it? You use things like the Barbarian female torso, or Witch, to see it. They didnt retrofit every female torso in the game, they just added NEW ONES.
So, WHY are new hands with claws so "impossible"?! Or indeed, just some new hands, period? I would really like someone to break it down, and "oh its a lot of work for the art dept." is not going to fly. That's what art departments are FOR: to do artwork. -
...Listen to what your gut tells you, its probably right.
Your situation was a difficult one; I do feel the leader should have made it a little clearer as in, "Can you help us finish this mission? We're having a little trouble..." But such politeness is rare, especially from strangers.
I tend to stay well past what I know to be wise. Example: the other night I was blueside, on a mid-level team of about 5 people. I'm looking forward to the usual fountain of xp when I see that we are looking at a cargo-hold of +4 Arachnos. Now what, I ask you, is more fun than +4 Night Widows???.... but I digress.
We buff up, tanks charge in and INSTA-TEAM-WIPE. Everyone hosps.
We buff up again, add a few lucks and INSTA-TEAM-WIPE. Hosp.
Repeat. Someone goes, "What if we dialed down the difficulty...?"
Leader [a Tank]: "Nah, we got this. This is easy." Re-buff, more Lucks, repeat. INSTA-TEAM-WIPE. Hosp.
Me: "Maybe we should dial down the difficulty...?"
Leader: "Nah. We got this. Watch!" Runs in, is instantly one-shotted.
Leader: "Let's regroup and try again, this is easy people." I'm quite leery of the whole process at this point, but I'm a nice person so I decide, one more try.
Re-buff, regroup, INSTA-TEAM-WIPE. We have progressed a third of the way through cargo-hold-room #1, if this gives you an idea... At this point someone quits without saying anything. Then someone else quits, despite further protestations of easiness by the leader..... and at that point I politely decline more debt-farming in team chat and take my leave.
Moral of the story: being too nice can get you some debt, plus maybe cause you to miss out on something else more profitable and fun, who knows. -
I am all for all travel powers becoming available at level 2. I am sufficient of a veteran to be able to take Fly early, and I love it and I do take it early.
I would never surpass Fly for things like Ninja run. Although I think everyone in the game but myself seems to think Ninja and Beast run are the bee's knees, I [sorry folks] think they look ridiculous. Nor do I wish to purchase a jet-pack to inch my way across the Chantry with.... egads.
I have not and will not purchase the rocket board as it is uncolorable and I have no one who could use the concept.
Afterburner is largely useless to me, as there is always something more useful I can pick up in its place, even if its just Hover [keeps squishies out of melee range] or Air Superiority [invaluable for dealing with annoying enemy groups like Cabal]. Its too bad, but I have yet to fit Afterburner onto a build due to the prerequisite requirements. I don't believe I've seen anyone I know using it either. -
You miss 'em [shards]? I don't! Getting enough shards to slot things up was a serious PITA, unless you were on a "shard run" ITF/STF/LRSF.
There always seemed to be one person on the team who wanted to "speed" and so the leader deferred to that one person. Bah! I hate "speed" TFs and trials, I usually am trying to slot something - so the more drops, the better. -
Quote:These are valid points, although if I waited to slot Alpha by earning shards via running regular content it would take me forever to slot.... those things are not reliable drops. I can come out of ten BAFs or one UG run with dozens of threads, some salvage and great progress toward having slots opened up, and that is why I for one never wait. You can achieve a +1 level shift by slotting the Alpha slot, earning shards by running regular content, and a weekly strike target once to earn your Notice of the Well.
It's generally a good idea to do so before running iTrials, as at -4 to the minions, you contribute significantly less damage, and have a hard time defeating enemies before they escape during the escapee phase.
I run a few trials, start slotting Alpha and go from there. -
Quote:Not long ago I had someone with no level shifts beginning to collect his stuff to kit out his Incarnate abilities later, who had accepted an invite to do [I think it was] a BAF.
Tally: The discussion about being forced to take “unknown” or “undesirable” players however is really a bit distressing to me. I know this topic is not a core part of the original posting, but it just struck a nerve with me.
I am finding I despise the incarnate trials for this very reason…not because I am forced to play with the great unworthy and unwashed masses…but because I AM one of them.
The incarnate trials have become so complex, so time consuming, and SOOOO rewards fixated; that only the worthy are allowed to play this game content. Trial leaders have become the new content gate keepers, the high priests of the incarnate religion; they will form a trial ONLY with known acolytes.
The leader began complaining about how she was having to accept people with no level-shifts in order to get an optimal number to start the trial.
me: "How are people supposed to get level shifts without running trials?"
leader: "...."
On topic, I love the UG trial but even I will admit that the lichen-infested Walker could stand some toning down. However even if the trial fails its an easy way to open up slots, so I will always line up to do it - while I still avoid Keyes like the plague, and will continue to do so. -
Quote:If I had my way, the Halloween event would last the entire month long, and be night the entire time.I really don't think making the game hard to see is a great way to celebrate Halloween.
As I recall, the event has *already* been shortened due to players hating the night.
Please let those of us who love this event have our shamefully short two weeks of night. You get the other 50 weeks of the year just how you want it, so no cause for complaint there - as far as I can see. -
Quote:As someone with Tier 8 almost full, I can tell you that the longer i'm here, the MORE I want to power-level. Not less. More.
I had visions of a server filled with experienced gamers. Little to no power leveling, no stupid questions, no smack talk, just awesomeness everywhere.
I have a new toon who views ToT leagues as gifts from heaven. Hit the Xp-booster and bring the bosses, baby. -
Quote:Speaking in general: Sometimes it absolutely feels like businesses are not going to stop until there is not one job left in this country.NCSoft has initiated mass layoffs at their North American offices.
Here's hoping everyone at Paragon Studios is still safely employed.
It'll be interesting to see who is subbing to stuff like online games when that rolls around, but I digress. -
Quote:Back in the day, I wasn't even anywhere near the door when I would get Held and killed in the Hospital, on a Keyes run. Or so I would swear: I was killed so quickly, it was honestly hard to tell what exactly happened.I will point out that it is impossible to be instantly hit with the pulse damage exiting the hospital. The hospital doors open the exact same time as the pulse activates, and is open for 10 seconds while the pulse recharges. That leaves 20 seconds before you have to deal with the pulse after the hospital doors close again.
If this killed-in-the-hospital thing has been addressed, that is good. I really have absolutely no desire to try Keyes again, even with adjustments. That is how bad an impression this trial made on me. Its not that I just don't LIKE it.
I literally detest it.
Here's hoping we never see anything even remotely like this again. Perhaps the closest we have now is the Sutter TF, where you have a final mission which is a. steamrolled or b. you gonna be there an hour before everyone quits in disgust. I don't run that one, either. -
Quote:....I think you missed the part where I said:Hey, if you aren't bright enough to express your own opinion, don't imagine that I'm going to do your work for you. I've demonstrated to enough teammates how useful those buffs are (by withholding them, and watching that person always take the most damage) on enough missions to know my point is valid.
You may have a different opinion, but it's certainly not all that accurate from what I've seen.
After the 50,000th cast:
me: Please don't cast shields on me anymore, ok? TY
idiot: Actually I find it quite amusing and I like doing it, so no your request is not granted.
*****
The point here is not so much the casting of shields, but that the spammer would not stop when asked. That, and he considered casting shields to be his sole contribution to what was going on. Lame.
Perhaps your shields are wonderful and make squishies 100% invincible, I don't know. However I strongly suspect that most people have one enhancement slotted on their ice shields, which makes them dismissible without a second thought. Which I WILL do, if they are an obnoxious color... and 98% of the time they are. Don't take it personally.
I will never understand why people take the request to stop this kind of thing personally. Its like "If you hate my shields, then you hate me!" My dismissal of your shield, or of Grant Invisibility is not a personal declaration of War. And that's another ROFL-tastic little strategy, speaking in general: making my Tanks invisible. GREAT IDEA, GENIUS![I am speaking generally, and not accusing Jake of making my Tanks invisible. A lot of people think this is the greatest idea since sliced bread, though.]

Quote:Even with changes, I am still not running Keyes.Rest in Peace Keyes, you were the most fun piece of content I've played since returning.
But alas, the majority want to change who you are, so therefore it shall be.
Any new trials of similar dye, I won't be playing those either. I don't find being Held in the hospital and then killed before I can even get out the door, "fun." Hopefully the people have spoken, and we won't have to fight this fight again.
But if the developers didnt get that message, those of us who detest that sort of thing can just keep on not running Keyes and anything similar. The message here being, "please create something fun to play." -
The new music is okay, kind of generic but okay.... but I kind of miss the old. I especially miss the old CoV theme.
-
For all of the complaining about the new CoT pieces -and I agree, the arc-reactor belt should have been in there - I think they are awesome....
The barbarian female corsets are *swoon* - beautiful.
Also very impressed with the new bat aura, tho it still needs a glowing-eyes option, and the spiderweb wings are Made of Win.
Now, if we could get the red-lipstick-and beauty-mark Victorian female face added as an option, purchaseable or otherwise, I would be in costume nirvana. But am enjoying the other new parts overall. -
Quote:This is coming from someone who has to resist the urge to cross herself at the mere mention of Keyes: UG is nothing like Keyes. For real, it really isnt. Not once in m post did I complain about the UG trial. I said I refuse to play it as Keyes ruined my appetite for the new trials.
Why take my squishe through it when I can unlock the same slots, get the similar rewards in less time and with less confusion?
It is no cakewalk, it will challenge you. You'll die some. [Note: SOME. Not every 15 seconds.] But its very do-able, especially after you run it a few times and get used to it. A good reason to run UG is that if your character has only Alpha unlocked, it gives A LOT of progress toward the rest of your slot unlocks.
The maps are beautiful, so you have new stuff to look at. Its a really fun trial, give it a whirl. -
Quote:While I am delighted that sanity is prevailing for the moment, the development team can immediately disabuse themselves of the notion that they can "force" players to do anything that they don't want to do.Positron has confirmed that the BAF and Lambda are keeping their Emp merit rewards but also said that 'if enough people don't play the new content, we're going to have to look into other ways of making the playerbase do it' (I am paraphrasing here but that is the gist of it). Which has raised a few eyebrows amongst some of my fellow players that I chat to.
This is a game that many of us are still paying for. Its not real life, its not a job, NCSoft is not the IRS or the FBI. If i were them I would drop the idea of force like a hot potato, because it will burn their fingers in the end.
No forcing. TYVM. -
Yeah. Because you repeating things to yourself over and over is definitely going to change the course of the game; righto.
Just like it does for your annual Malleus Badge Jihad, right? *nods* Right. That has worked well so far....
Quote:someone else: play nice...we all know GG is a blatant supporter through and through, but she's hardly alone in liking Keyes. Who is this elusive other creature who likes Keyes...?!
Just kidding, but really.... Keyes is not a popular trial. A few here and there might enjoy it, but I really don't see this attempt to use a big stick to get the majority of the playerbase to run it as going to pay off, as in inducing people to farm it endlessly. Its just not a pleasant experience, and this game is here for us to have fun in. We can slog on regardless at jobs we get paid to do, in the real world.
*reads Ms Mezmer's post: I'm not spending 15 Empyrean merits to unlock stuff that lame.... LOL! Are they serious.... I am not sure I would go to the trouble of unlocking that stuff if it were for free! -
Quote:It really isnt like Keyes at all. Give UG a try; I find it really fun and there is an orderly progression of events.
Techbot: I do not find Keyes fun. There is not enough room in this post, or enough uncensored words, to properly express how much I HATE Keyes. I haven't even bothered to run the UG, simply because it sounds like it follows in the same vein.
Is it a cakewalk? No. But at least it is fun. Keyes is just sadomasochism at its finest.
