First off, while I'm not sure it will help, I'm pretty sure there are some newer video drivers than what you have. So you might consider an upgrade just on principle if nothing else.
But the source of your issue it sure looks to me is a very high memory utilisation. Both your system memory and page file are exceedingly full which suggests your CoH issue is related to a lack of memory. You have a ton of stuff running according to your HijackThis report. I would definitely look at shutting off as much of that as you can. Remove or at least disable any running services or programs you don't use. Basically, get your memory usage cut down to size and you should see an improvement in your gaming. -
First off, it looks like you're using some sort of 'network optmiser' program as well as possibly other such 'optimisation' programs. In my experience, such programs are total junk and usually the cause of more issues than they ever fix, if any. I'd get rid of whatever ones you may have.
Additionally, the following entries concern me:
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{51A390DF-397B-486E-865D-EAD9559541EB}: NameServer = 156.154.70.22,156.154.71.22

Entries like that tend to be a sign of infection in my experience. Unless you know where those came from and they are deliberate, I'd get rid of them and check your system thouroughly for viruses and such. -

Look lady, I don't want your money, just give me any metal scraps or nuts and bolts you have on you and this will all be over. -

I'd suggest starting by updating your video and sound drivers.
-
Well if it is a problem in the client files, you could try deleting the checksum file from your CoH directory. That will force the updater to re-verify all your files and hopefully fix any that are buggy. It will take some time but not as much as a fresh download.
A 5770 is a fine card. Hardly top of the line for sure now but not a bad thing to get for CoH. Just up to your budget. My definite suggestion on parts is to check reviews of any bits you're considering. There's plenty of good review sites out there. Father Xmas also has some good build guides in his sig that could prove useful to you as well.
And the ATI FSAA+occlusion issues are code and driver problems from what I understand. Presumably they will be fixed sometime. But if you don't care about occlusion, then it's not worth worrying over. -
Your OS is also behind on Service Packs at the very least. Update that and your video drivers. Probably wouldn't hurt to update the sound drivers too. So update all that and see what results you get.

Run us a CoHHelper report. that will give us a bit more useful info to look at.

Ma'am this is a store, not a little league park. -
My guess is you need to remove and reinstall your drivers for the wireless card. Sounds like something got screwed up somehow. I'd expect a reinstall might do the trick.

No love at all for us in the middle I see. No surprise I guess. We've never gotten any before that I know of. Guess I need to get cracking on my earthquake machine. Then I can drop both coasts into the ocean and you'll HAVE to do cons in the middle! MWAHAHAHA!
Also, might wanna start thinking about moving Paragon Studios to safer ground. Just sayin'....
MWAHAHAHAHAHA! -
Good to hear you got it solved. Unfortunate it took such a step to fix it but sometimes that's just how it is. Now get out there and kick some evil rear! (Or heroic rear if that's your thing).

In truth, I'd have to agree with you. The info isn't as solid as it could be. OTOH, even if done prefectly, the issue seems odd and perhaps rare enough that Driver Sweeper might not be capable of fixing it even under ideal conditions.
For myself, I run the 10.5s and have done since they got released and I expect I will move to 10.6 before long. And I use Driver Sweeper between evey upgrade. So far, I haven't seen this issue myself. But I suppose it is good there at least is a solution of some sort for those rare folk who do get hit with it.
But yes, more info and details would be useful. -
From a careful read, it looks to me like this isn't a problem solved by Driver Sweeper as it is mentioned there towards the end.

The Class 1 cards on the list should be capable of doing UM. They should all beat what you have now. Obviously the higher up the chart you go, the better performance you'll get.
For CPUs, broadly speaking, i3 < i5 < i7. However I'd say there's some overlap depending on the exact models in question. The main thing with i7 is it has quad core versions while i5 and i3 are restricted to dual core. For CoH, this matters little as it can't/won't take advantage of all the available threads. The main area extra cores can help with CoH is in multitasking. If you regularly play while surfing or having other stuff going on in the background, having more cores can help as the load can be spread across them, reducing or eliminating the impact multitasking has on the performance of any of those processes. Of course if you have other programs beyond CoH that can utilise the full power of a quad-core, then that could also make it more valuable and worth the premium to you. -
So this ONLY happens when you have some other window open underneath CoH? And is this fullscreen or windowed mode play? And it thinks something underneath CoH on the taskbar is what you actually intend to click on.

This is an HP copy of Windows? Aside from the licensing issues that likely make that illegal, the fact it's not a 'clean' OS may be a portion of your issue. System manufacturers incorporate extra drivers for their hardware into the OS build. It may be that one of those is interacting badly with some piece of hardware on the mobo or otherwise in the system and causing things to go screwy. Do you have an OEM or otherwise clean OS you can use? The system builder should have and was legally obligated by M$ to supply a copy of the OS that came on the system. That should be a clean version. (I assume it came pre-loaded.)
-
Did you try running it as Administrator? It also requires .Net 2.0 be installed. Check those things.
-
Well assuming that system is truly capable of UM and UM is what you really want, then some extra saving sounds in order.
-
First off, your OS is behind on patches as it is SP2. I suggest getting up to date there first. As for video drivers, the latest available for you are these. Your card is on 'legacy' support from ATI meaning they no longer actively support you. Those drivers are the 10.2 set. I'd suggest uninstalling your current drivers and running Driver Sweeper under Safe Mode afterwards to be sure you clear out all the driver bits. Then try installing the new drivers.

Quote:Well if you'd get up some guts and propose already...Getting a laptop for £300 that can run ultra mode is as likely as Karen Gillan, Amy from Doctor Who, becoming my wife.
£1000-1500 is much more likely. I'm not even sure you can escape from integrated graphics for only £300.
But more seriously, I suspected £300 wouldn't do the job but I'm not up on current exchange rates so I wasn't certain. -
Definitely sounds like a hardware fault or driver problem to me. Safe Mode uses a fairly basic set of drivers and only initializes a minimal amount of the hardware to get things running. So your likely culprit is something like the sound or network which don't usually get turned on in safe mode. You might try removing, disconnecting or otherwise turning off all components and such not absolutely required for system functionality and see if it boots then. If it does, then it should be a simple process of elimination to determine which bit is the troublemaker. If it doesn't, then at least you've eliminated some of the contenders.
What error are you getting? Knowing that might prove helpful too. -
Well here is a direct link to your drivers if you need it but yeah, 2007 drivers are still old and may not help much.
Since you've stripped out a bunch of stuff, you might ought rerun CoHHelper and HijackThis for us so we can see what your current status is. But honestly, it might not be a bad idea to just save your important data and rebuild the system from scratch, if possible. That will guarantee that all the unwanted trash is gone and streamline the system. It may even run noticibly better. Heck, it probably will run better.
