Crash at Splash Screen
I'd suggest starting by updating your video and sound drivers.
It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.
Unfortunately, your OS no longer meets the Minimum System Requirements for City of Heroes. Those Minimum System Requirements were changed with the release of Issue 17 on April 28, 2010. Issue 17 contained a MASSIVE graphics engine update and requires up to date drivers with fully functional OpenGL support.
The newest video drivers released for your video card and OS was the 93.71 driver on November 2, 2006. The lack of updated video card drivers for Windows 2000 may have a bearing on why Windows 2000 is no longer a supported Operating System.
This is something I seldom say in response to a forum post, but to continue to play the game you need to update to a newer computer, OS, video card, and everything that goes along with it.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Hi
Thank you for your help , I suspected that this may be the case but just needed confirmation.

Hi all

I have a strange issue when the game is loading, COH has been working fine until a month or so ago.
I can log on ok I then go to the character selection screen and press the button to enter the game, the location splash screen loads and the progress bar at the bottom gets to the same position each time I try this and then I am sent back to the log on screen.
See below link for example of where the error occurs (a similar thing happend on all characters)
