I second the yackity sax. I didn't know what it was but of course I remember it from this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XppeqGaUSlM#t=1m30s
A few things can happen in a GM fight.
You are unable to survive long enough to defeat the GM
You are unable to overcome the GMs regen and the GM can't put out enough damage, other people either show up and help or you leave after getting bored.
You defeat the GM either by overcoming the regen with DPS or flooring the DPS and then damaging the GM.
Bruce had the second scenario for sure and with envenomed dagger and the bots he was able to floor the regen so it was just a matter of time. It does help to note that the paladin as a GM should have lower hp than other GMs as his hidden level should be below 20 so it could be the difference with the ninjas on monster island but I don't know for sure the wiki doesn't say what Paladins hidden level is.
It is a feat to take down a GM and like you said, I'm here so I might as well try. Great job.
Edit: Oh and I think I said it when you originally did it but here it is again... CHEATER!!! -

Mr_Tanktastic
In the words of Bonnie Tyler (if she played a Tanker in CoH)
Where have all the good Healers gone and where are all the heals?
Here's the great Mr.Tanktastic to fight the rising odds
Isn't there a white knight who is full empathy?
Late at night I tank and I faceplant and I dream of what I need!
I need a healer!
I'm holding out for a healer for the upcoming fight!
he's gotta be good and he's gotta be fast
and better not be sh1te!
I need a healer!
I need a healer for the upcoming fight!
He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta heal all my life
Heal all my life
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasies
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a Supervillain to knock me off my feet!
I need a healer!
I'm holding out for a healer for the upcoming fight!
he's gotta be good and he's gotta be fast
and better not be sh1te!
I need a healer!
I need a healer for the upcoming fight!
He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta heal all my life
Heal all my life
In the Hollows neath the heavens above
Out where the lightning strikes the sea
I gotta hope that there's someone somewhere watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
and the storm and the flood
I can feel his heals like a fire in my blood!
I need a healer!
I'm holding out for a healer for the upcoming fight!
he's gotta be good and he's gotta be fast
and better not be sh1te!
I need a healer!
I need a healer for the upcoming fight!
He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta heal all my life
Heal all my life!!!
A-thank you!
Coming soon, my rendition of Shaggy's Mr.Boombastic, retitled Mr.Tanktastic!*

My thoughts on AFK farming? It's a necessary evil to keep the market share of pvp IOs at a reasonable price. If AFK farming was blocked the +3 def would go from the 2.25 billion it goes for upwards of 5, 10, maybe 20 billion because of the shortage it would create. The others that go for purple prices would now be 3-4xs what they are fairly easily, why? Because everyone would be using merits to purchase the most expensive ones to either keep or flip.
In the past you needed to pay for multiple accounts to be able to do it, however with freedom that's no longer the case. A person can run something like 11 accounts at once and only pay for the IO license on one of them. If the devs wanted to prevent this they could have made PvP zones VIP only, it's not like PvP is popular and with free players it's potentially game breaking (think of someone with 10 accounts, all defenders buffing 1 other account).
It honestly doesn't hurt anything however from a game standpoint. Marty was put in to catch exploits and AE was changed to smooth the leveling process to a more reasonable level because exploits and AE both effect other players play experience. The game isn't balanced around IOs so the base play experience isn't effected by the AFK farmer. -
I ended up rerolling as a mind/fire and built for +damage and recharge. I ended up with 25% s/l/e defense. Not capped but it was an afterthought in this case.

Quote:4x8 with enemies with -tohit or +def. Normally the only reason I die is when I run in to a group that has those characteristics and can't take out enough of the group in time. Nemesis, and to a lesser extent carnies have been the biggest problem at 4x8 although I haven't attempted them since I slotted the kismet +6%.What are you trying to maximize and minimize. What are you building to fight?
So the two options would be increase damage somehow or increase accuracy so I miss less. -
Can you purchase multiple Invention system access or only one at a time?
-
Quote:It depends on the price point. Conversions are already wonky with merits, A merits, inf, ect but the game is easy to obtain influence and purchase things already. If anything it lowers demand, lowers the price point, and gets people to invest RL money into the game that, ideally, will be put into the game for staffing, trials, new sets, and BUG FIXES. If it's done as a money grab and we start seeing fewer sets, updates, and the game gets stagnant I will question it.Wow, you guys are tools and I am incredibly annoyed at this. You're invalidating the playing time of a lot of players by selling LOTG and Kinetic Combats. This makes me angry. The minute you start selling purple and PVP IO's for irl money I swear to god I will cancel my subscription and never come back.
I do like how they are account locked so people can't convert RL money into inf. -
Goals? I really don't have any I haven't accomplished. Shield Charge and spring attack is great spike AoE damage and single target is solid. I guess my main concern is finding more accuracy without sacrificing much in the way of +hp, regen, and of course defense.
-
Sounds good, thanks for the advice, I built for defense then realized they wouldn't be attacking me. So it didn't have a use.
-
Coming from Blasters/Scrapper/Warshade I'm curious on if I should build for defense by taking weave, maneuvers, hover, indomitable will, ect. Or if I should ignore those and take things like recall friend and telekinesis. Assuming permadom after level 27 from purple and pvp IOs would it be better to go for +hp bonuses to mesh with Drain Psyche in the case of mind/psi?
Or should I build it like my blaster and scrapper where getting to that 45% is before other things. -
This is a new thing with the launcher. I was getting lag and rubber banding. Looked at system resources and noticed 50% of my CPU was going to the launcher; I closed it and the problem was fixed.
-
I can't comment on the mother ship as I have only done a couple but.
In Lambda when you go in to the facilities the goal is to destroy either the weapons caches or containment chambers depending on where you go. That's it... Nobody worries about clearing the mobs around them they just hit the object till it is destroyed then move on. Best way to run it until you get the hang of it (especially on more squishy types) is to use a stealth IO or stealth power and chase a tank or brute around targeting the objects they are around.
In the BAF I always door camp, because I, along with my lore pets, can almost solo a door, then I take out runners that make it through the choke points. From figuring out NS and sieges health there is a window that should pop up (unless it's disabled which I don't know how to enable/disable it) it's the same one that shows up for the Lambda trial when maurader shows up. -
-
I added the data chunk to the original post, any help is appreciated. After getting to the soft cap and top attack chain while hasten is up I went for +hp.
-
If this is about what the people want and getting behind a ranged/defense AT I must say I don't support it and the people giving solutions for how you can achieve it in game seem to be against it as well. There are so many other things I would rather have in game than a new AT, as far as I look at it the AT would either be gimped from a min/max perspective or uber and it being the later would be the only reason I would consider it just to keep up with the joneses.

I didn't want to start a new thread but I'm stuck for my standard build. I've pushed the build as far as I can get it without restarting and looking for more from scratch. I'm considering using enhancement boosters to push the build more in a few places but is there anything anyone can see that I'm missing or don't need? Or do I start on a second build to softcap against incarnate and DE?
This is what I have on live:

Purples and PvP IOs don't make a build, nor do IOs, some builds benefit more from it and there are diminishing returns as you throw more influence at a character. The "it depends on the player" statement is a little silly, I'm not saying it doesn't because given the same character and the same build two different people will play it differently, but the same person on a 200 million influence budget will be able to do much more with a 20 billion dollar budget.
There's a point where spending more will get you less but to a certain point spending more will get you more. -
Budget? There are 200 million inf builds that will get you a long way, there's 10 billion inf builds that can soft cap s/l/e/range, perma hasten (with incarnates), get DP 1-2 seconds from perma, 1900% regen when targets maxed ect. Knowing your budget helps people work things around and get you what you're looking for.
Are you looking for recharge? Defense? If you want to farm AE you can build cheap for recharge and just pop purples along with reds, farming for purples is a little less forgiving. -
Quote:Thanks for pointing that out, it's not better DPS, but it does allow you to stay at range which is what was in my head but somehow got translated into better DPS. Which is why I put it in the Good not must take category because some people prefer to only go into melee when they're firing something off and not to take down a boss or use their single target attack chain.Mind Probe is better than Subdual, by a significant margin (better animation, base damage, and can slot the hecatomb proc).
Thanks for correcting me, that was a major slip up on my part. -
Sonic/MM and Fire/MM are both good, MM is the secondary if you're planning on soloing AVs though. I posted my data chuck below, first time my build has seen the light of day actually. You can actually swap out the HamiO out for a Luck of the Gambler def/end and still be at 44.99 s/l def. I would encourage you to go with the PvP IO for the +3 defense and skip the Purple sets until you can build up to it as it's easier to soft cap. You can do more with a lower budget but with the regen (up to 1900% 122 hp/sec) and soft capped in 3 types and range you're pretty survivable and can solo any even conned AV.
Some key highlights
s/l/e/range softcapped
perma hasten with incarnates
-552% regen with DP (2.4 seconds down time)

What are you planning on farming? AE? The wall? Battle Maiden or other outdoor map?
-
Must haves: Drain Psyche (the main reason to take the power set in my mind), Psychic Shockwave (DP puts you in melee anyway) , Concentration (It's build up)
Good: Mind Probe (although subdual, pistols, and executioner's shot forms a better dps chain it may be good for leveling until you can perform the single target chain)
Avoid: Scare (single target fear), TK Thrust (KB power with greater cast time than air superiority, if you're going hover take air superiority and mind)
Situational
World of confusion is great for the purple confuse set for the +5 range defense but not much more, respec into it at 50 if you're going to cap range defense
Psychic Shockwave: Another Cone for more AoE damage, depends on what you want out of your build -
Quote:That's why I said hero and villain not vigilante or rogue. I agree rogues and vigilantes would benefit from it (I've hit the O portal as a rogue playing blueside to just have to run a longer route to get where I needed to go). My point was that if you only have access to one side the benefit is minimized, and if you carry went TP and O portal the benefit is further minimized (not to mention base TP and mission porter). They are called vigilantes and rogues. They've been in the game for a year now.
If it was a team zone port it would be much better (you wait for your team to run a mission normally anyway) and for a team build would be very nice. -
Quote:You have a hero or villain that can access the enemies territory? And I really don't feel like heading to Praetoria often enough to waste a power pick (or 3) on it.You have a base teleporter that can send you to any zone in Praetoria, any non hazard zone blueside and every zone redside?
I figure you save about a minute when heading to a standard zone (O portal to IP then train to where you want) and maybe 5 minutes if you're switching from hazard zone to hazard zone if your base TP is down. -
Sadly it's the best of the new powers, long range teleport? I have a base teleporter and can go to any zone, Afterburner? can't attack while using it so essentially it's a "run away!" power. Burnout has such a huge recharge is it really worth it (and by that I mean does it insta recharge incarnate abilities?). I'm planning to take it on my DM/SD scrapper to improve spike AoE damage, for ATs who have ample AoE I can see it not being as beneficial but overall of the new powers it's still the best, with burnout being second. At least to my play style.
