AV soloing

I was hoping to get some advice on what type of blaster would work best against an AV solo (and general solo ability). I was thinking fire/mm or sonic/mm. Could I get some build advices? I would like him to have high enough survivability to act as a blapper (if possible), but I'll leave it to your discretion. He needs to be able to solo. Done. Thanks

P.S. I can afford purple ions but HO and PvPs would be a bit overkill on my expected budget.

After looking at the set choices I'm not to sure its doable. I think the regeneration issue might be a problem. But I think you might be able to use envenom dagger temp to help you hindering regeneration.

I'm guessing that Radiation for the -Def is gonna be helpful to keep defenses down to hit the AV. I would think something that is going to boost your damage or hinder the AV in some other way example recovery to limit his choices of attacks or something to boost your dps. Energy Manipulation might be good.

You would also need to be defense capped for range and have some way to heal yourself as hit will get in.

It is absolutely doable and has been done countless times in the past, most specifically by fire/mms.

Slotted Drain Psyche from mental manipulation does -500% regen. -Def isn't necessary, blasters have access to obscene amounts of +tohit, fire is your best choice for primary for the sheer damage it does, sonic is capable of pulling ahead in teams, but for solo play the -res isn't going to beat the damage of fire.

I would suggest putting a Sonic/MM build together with soft capped S/L defense and posting it up for people to see. Sonic/MM is probably the best combination to solo with due to the -Res from Sonic and -Regen from MM.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Looks like I'm right to go with a fire/mm or sonic/mm. Am I correct in my understanding that drain psyche's -regen is enhanceable with heal ios? Also, what incarnates would be best to go with? Thanks again for your suggestions and I would love to see your builds. Around Tuesday I'll be able to play around with mids and post something myself, but til then, would love to see your ideas

The -Regen is enhanceable. As for incarnates I'm not sure which would go best.

I'd agree with Santorican that sonic/mm is probably the best combo, fire/mm and psy/mm honorable mention. Psy blast mainly for its impressive range, sonic because -res is not resisted by AV's. I've solo'd a fair number of AV's on my s/l softcapped rad/mm, but don't consider the -def to be particularly useful because that debuff is heavily resisted by AVs.

While -regen is certainly an effective tool, it turns out not to be a necessity (for AV's. GM's are a different story). I had to get creative with nictus Rom on ITF, since I didn't have the dps to kill him at range with the healer on me and I couldn't survive the autohit nictus. What I wound up doing was pulling him up into the hills and immobilizing him where I could break LoS with the healer. I used a chain of neutrino bolt-xray beam-neutrino bolt-subdual. It took me a while, but I finally dropped him . I used purple insps to stay softcapped to ranged dmg.

You'll also need end sustainability. Drain Psyche is great for this, too.

You'll want an immob if you're going with ranged softcap, I like /mm's immob for this because it has an 80' range which also allows you to stay out of range of cones and other attacks that may bypass your ranged def. You'll want a way to recover from the hits that do get through- aid self is probably the best option for this. /mm's +regen can work, but it's a little dicey (I usually surround myself with minions to fuel DP). Two lucky shots too close together and you'll wake up in the hospital asking if anyone got the liscense plate of that truck that just ran you over. I personally feel ranged softcap would be more effective for this sort of thing, as it doesn't limit you as much in terms of which AV's you'll be able to hunt.

On my own softcapped s/l blaster, with some AV's I'm able to just jump in and bang away like a scrapper, leaving some minions alive to fuel DP.

I'd guess reactive is best, but I haven't tested any of the others. Barrier is nice for +res and +def, carry bf's for mezzing AVs; Rebirth also seems like it'd be a good option. I used spiritual alpha for my solo itf, to boost DP's healing and reduce it's recharge. Musculature is another good option- the faster you kill, the better your chances of survival.

Sonic/MM and Fire/MM are both good, MM is the secondary if you're planning on soloing AVs though. I posted my data chuck below, first time my build has seen the light of day actually. You can actually swap out the HamiO out for a Luck of the Gambler def/end and still be at 44.99 s/l def. I would encourage you to go with the PvP IO for the +3 defense and skip the Purple sets until you can build up to it as it's easier to soft cap. You can do more with a lower budget but with the regen (up to 1900% 122 hp/sec) and soft capped in 3 types and range you're pretty survivable and can solo any even conned AV.

Some key highlights
s/l/e/range softcapped
perma hasten with incarnates
-552% regen with DP (2.4 seconds down time)

You don't necessarily need an immob. Due to the way the AI works, if you never go within 80' of the AV then it won't try to use AoE attacks on you. Once you close that distance, it will use AoE's and move to stay within AoE range. The exceptions to this are the AV's with melee sets; they will charge you regardless, so using Hover is advisable.

In order to make this work you need a primary set that has 80' range for its single-target attacks, and Boost Range from the energy secondary. I had fair success with archery/energy (pre-Alpha) using this tactic. Psy/energy would probably be better. Beam rifle/energy might be the best just from looking at the stats in Mids, but I'm unwilling to pay the money to confirm that.
