Thanks! This way actually saves a bit of money too!

I have a choice to make in a build I have. I can have recharge at 100% and about 34% AOE defense with a few purple sets, OR I can get 45% AOE defense (along with about 47% ranged def) and still get 80% recharge bonus with a slightly cheaper build (although still fairly expensive for me). It seems to me that 80% recharge bonus is quite good and to be able to soft cap AOE as well as ranged defense would be more important. All of the other stats are similar enough.
What do you think? -
Quote:I kind of like this...I was looking at some of the shoulder/belt, and even chest detail options and could see how a small quiver wouldn't seem too hard looking at the size that some of the options already take up.I was thinking about this the other day. I have no idea how easy/difficult things like animated holsters or backpacks on the back node or adding leg nodes is. But, they do already have things such as arm bands under the Shoulder options that could be used to make arm pouches or knife sheathes or whatever. They also have insanely long hanging belts (such as the martial arts ones) that could instead be a scabbard or other hanging pouches, ammo, etc. And, of course, the Chest detail option that already has the Stealth (?) one with a few pouches can be build upon to make a "detective" style gun holster or more pouches, etc. In short, even without changing anything about the character models now, they could really add a lot of these details that people have been asking for.
Yeah, the holsters/scabbard wouldn't animate or anything but either leave them empty or give an "empty" or "filled" option and let the player decide which they like better.
In any case, I'm hoping for quivers and the like in the future at some point! -
I've heard this term referred to several times in threads, but what does it mean. I guess I picture jumping into a mob, taking a couple melee shots, and jumping out, but just wanted to make sure it didn't mean something more or something else entirely.
Thanks. -
My idea was a blapper oriented archer, so I soft-capped defense. Not sure how it will perform, but here is the build. Also, originally didn't have leadership and had Hoarfrost and power boost in the build. Let me know what you think please.

Hi,
I've been tinkering around and wonder if you would take a look at this build. Any feedback, advice appreciated. Thanks!

Can I skill Fitness if I use Drain Psych? I'm planning on using it with Dual Pistols, which seems to be somewhat heavy on endurance.
-
I'm working on MM. NRG is my second choice, but I have a bunch of NRG toons already. Also, at first I thought MM wouldn't trigger the redraw and that my toon could hold her guns while doing a few of the attacks, but this isn't the case as she puts the guns away to do the moves. I still like the secondary though.
I didn't pick Devices since DP doesn't have Aim and I wanted a build up power.
Like many others, if we had a martial arts type secondary I would jump on it (as long as it had build up lol). -
Is Archery a decent set for blaster in PvP? My main concern is whether or not the lethal damage gets resisted too much by many opponents vs. one of the other sets.
Thanks. -
Well, since I posted the original post, I played around with Mid's Hero designer and my current toon and played around with using cast and recharge times to try to find somewhat efficient attack chains. Here's a question which I think I'm pretty sure of the answer...on Mid's for example, the cast time happens first THEN the recharge starts. Is that right? So if something had a cast time of 1 second and a recharge of 3 seconds...the 3 seconds would start right after the cast time has complete right?
-
Hi everyone,
I was wondering how people went about developing their attack chains? Do they just kind of play around and see what works for them? Do some people just not develop attack chains?
Thanks! -
Quote:Well, instead of shield charge, maybe something like this?Take out the shield charge clone, and possibly the cuffs (you need to get targets to comply to cuff them, really) and I can definitely get behind this set. /Signed
Riot buster - animation: multiiple strikes with baton. Moderate Damage, close range cone attack, foe stun
And animation for cuffs would be character slamming opponent to the ground and applying cuffs, so maybe minor damage and held. Casting time would be a little longer than other attacks for time it would take to "cuff" bad guy. -
Quote:Well, I kinda of thought of it as a blaster secondary to go along with dual pistols or assault rifle for those who want that feel. That way people who use the "official" belt option can have stuff to use and that the cops don't all have to be tanks. You can use a police baton with War Mace, so we basically already have the baton stuff. Other than that, this is a lot more mixed than any normal melee set (and having a shield charge would probably play havoc with characters that already have Shield Defense). It kinda feels more like a Blaster secondary.
-
I had this idea with all the police type characters out there. And I took a half hour out of my workday to come up with the following. I think this could be doable and fun:
Powerset: LEO Melee
1. Baton strike A quick strike with the baton. minor damage, fast recharge, disorient
2. Baton thrust A harder strike with the baton. moderate damage, moderate recharge, disorient
3. Stun Gun minor damage, opponent stun
4. Cuffs No damage, Short range hold
5. Take down tackle attack, moderate damage, knockback, medium ranged maybe?
6. Tear Gas throws a can of tear gas, foe choke, -Recharge, -Regen, ranged AoE, minor damage (dot)
7. Riot shield charge kinda like shield charge with riot shield, high damage, PBAoE , knockback
8. Baton bash Your Total Focus strike with baton Extreme Damage, slow recharge, for the particularly nasty baddie
9. Reinforcements Kinda like Gang War, cops come in with batons and beat down the bad guys -
Thanks. I ended up going to your guide and respecing. I can't wait to get it slotted out.

I'm a tank newbie and I have a level 28 tank without Dull Pain. I then started reading a bunch of the forum posts and it seems that I must include Dull Pain. So my questions are:
1. Is Dull Pain a necessity for Inv tanks?
2. If so, how many slots and how do I slot it?
Thanks! -
Is Telekinesis in the Mind Control power set useful? It seems to be a waste with only thematic use.
And how about Repel in the Kinetics power set? Again, seems like it could be useful, but on the right teams and played right, fairly unnecessary compared to other options. -
I've been leading/playing on some high level teams both in AE and out, and I've found a good range for me for a very smooth running team (assuming everyone is decent at their characters):
1. Tank
2. Defender
3. Controller
4. Controller or Defender
5. Controller of Defender
6. Scrapper
7. Blaster
8. Scrapper or Blaster
Of the controllers defenders, I've found having 1-2 kins, and empath, and/or radiation to be very helpful. And as people have mentioned having one of the controllers be a fire is quite awesome.
I like having a kin defender (that's what I usually play), because I feel Kin controllers need to focus on their controls first and their buffing second while I tend to focus on buffing first and blasting second.
In any case, that's my two cents. -
Hey thanks for all the advice.
I've tweaked the build. Main changes were to get Practiced Brawler earlier, take out Divine Avalanche, take Assault as my last power and then change up the slotting a little (as well as tweak some of the enhancement sets I used to get as high DEF as possible). Does this look better?

Hi, this is my first Katana/ST Scrapper. Please comment on my choice of powers and slotting. Some specific questions:
1. I am torn between getting "Call of the Wolf". As a scrapper it may seem useful when teaming with blasters and defenders, but on a full team with tank and controls, it seems like I wouldn't use it often.
2. Is "Practiced Brawler" good? It seems useful, so should I get it earlier than I do? In general, I try to get the powers in order that they are available, but it seemed less useful than the others.
3. Is Shiruken good or lame? I'm primarly a blaster/defender player, so having a range attack seems good as well as being thematic for my character, but it's also a slot I can use for "Calling of the Wolf" or something else.
Thanks!

These are very good perspectives. I will probably try taking it at 41, instead of the later "Total Focus" I was planning on getting.
Edit: Also, should I 6-slot it? -
Hi all,
I just made it to level 38 with my kin/elec defender (yay! My highest toon yet). I had planned to take thunderous Blast, but then reflected on how my blaster teammates from my last few missions all got endurance drained during our missions and that I spend two-thirds or more of my time buffing/debuffing. I decided to take Tactics instead (I already had Assault). Is this a good move? I figure most of the time I get to attack, I'm using my firsr two attacks and ball of lightning, with the occasional short circuit when I get too close to the action. But most of the time, I'm sitting back using my kinetic powers to help the team. I also don't solo very often, so I figured let the blasters do the nuking and just focus on my team support powers. Does this make sense or should I pick up thunderous blast at 41?
Thanks!
