Dull Pain Questions
1. Its a significant portion of your overall mitigation, so for me this is a no brainier yes.
2. Its a 6 slotter. 3 heal and 3 recharge is a good place to start. Doctored wounds in a decent IO set to place there.

Dull Pain takes the edge off of everything that's not Smashing/Lethal.
It is pretty much the only mitigation you have in Inv against psi attacks.

Dull Pain is a critical portion of your survivability; in my opinion it should be your level 2 power. On SO enhancements it should have 3 recharge/3 heal... for IO sets the Doctored Wounds set is a very good choice and allows you to cut it down to 5 slots (skipping the End/Recharge). Dull pain acts as a huge heal AND as a massive boost to your hit points... with the recommended slotting it adds ~60% to your hit points. At level 50 you'll have 1874 hit points... hit dull pain and you'll have 2,979 hit points.
I'm a tank newbie and I have a level 28 tank without Dull Pain. I then started reading a bunch of the forum posts and it seems that I must include Dull Pain. So my questions are:
1. Is Dull Pain a necessity for Inv tanks? 2. If so, how many slots and how do I slot it? Thanks! |
It sounds like you're probably working with a build that could stand improvement; I'd suggest you take a look at my Invuln Tankers first 20 levels guide (linked in my signature) for a "framework" on the critical powers in the set and suggestions on when to take them. If your current build differs much from that guideline you may want to consider a respec.
Built correctly Invuln is second only to Stone in durability... if you decide to build towards the defense cap (my advanced guide, Invuln Tankers and the defense soft cap) then there's virtually nothing in the game that can really threaten you.

Very important power. You want over 90% each on heal and recharge. That means 3 and 3 if you are using SO's, or you can do it in 5 slots with IO's and get some set bonuses.

Thanks. I ended up going to your guide and respecing. I can't wait to get it slotted out.
