Now my best friend, who also plays the game, keeps telling me to accept any plot holes as "comicbook writing". And I hold nothing against her but I honestly HATE "comic book writing" being used. Comic book writing is NOT a blank check for bad writing, it should be the bottom rung standard you avoid like rats and other flea baring creatures during the Black Plague. "Comic book writing" is what's been causing problems for people to get into and enjoy the comic book industry. It's as bad as when Joe Quesada said "It's magic, we don't have to explain it."

As a funny note, when I presented a story arc for the same friend to look at, she immediately called me on my bad writing, I called her own letting the devs get away with it and the response was: "I don't expect good storytelling from the Devs anymore, I still have hope for you."

Also, Assassin's Strike powers from hide which can be any damage type of the main powerset. The principle in this case is the same as I think it's less meant to be a "I make you afraid by channeling your worst fears/see the WORST POSSIBLE THING!" but instead making them terrorized from a devastating assault.

I thought it was the IDF that defeated the Talons (in an unintentional combined effort with the CoL) due to Cole trying to make one last blitz against them.

Things get good from post 9 onwards.
I standby that it should have been STATELINE (the 's' at the end of State gets dropped) for the sake of keeping a pun. But damn those 's's they just roll off the tongue.

Also, reading some of my posts reflecting on the difficulties and pain Statesman had been enduring at that point, it really makes his willingness to just die make all the more sense, and all the more sad.

Deep down, he knew it was a hopeless fight for him, that he would always lose... And he still kept fighting anyway until his wife pointed out even if he did survive Wade's trap, he could look forward to another one hundred years of jobbing like a girl in Naturo or Bleach.
  6. Personally, I would like a revamp of the statues around Paragon altogether. Put Statesman somewhere in Atlas, hold a contest for players to design costumes for some of the other hero statues, downscale their size a bit, etc. etc.

Also, can we get a new Galaxy Girl statue? And anyway though, part of this is because it really is hard to tell Cassopia from generic, female hero statue number 8 in a half dozen other places in Paragon.

    Okay, now I'm just ranting.
  7. Hey, maybe Sparkblade (though understandable why) and Rose Star (much less understandable since she has no apparent unique Powers) can get some 'screen time'.

Well, a bit of the problem with that is that Praetoria seems to have a lot that covered for the most part in the IDF human units, TEST, and DUST. On the otherhand, maybe those went a little too far.

Hmmm, in the end, this seems to be a thought exercise of design in which we're stuck on an impasse, some of us want one change, some of us want another, and then there are others who want no change.

  10. Yeah, I mean it works well with police and standard military, but I think I'm just suffering from a case of "reality is unrealistic" sort of. I mean I know that's how it works in real life, but I can't help but think that as a Special Black Ops Group it looks a bit odd for each Malta agent to be equipped and geared up like they've got everything and the kitchen sink. (Technically is's a folding, plastic mess sink, but it still applies)

Like I said, maybe it's just me in the end, and to be honest, they don't even look that bad now, just sometimes think they could use a 'sleeker' look every so often.

In the end, as I've said, I think the real update Malta could use in appearance department would be "casually" dressed operatives seen outside or in missions where they're supposed to look like something else.

And I continue to pray when they get upgraded by Valkyrie they won't become CYBER MALTA X WITH NANITE SWORDS, NANO-CHAIN MAIL, AND TABARDS!
  11. Yeah, I just hope that doesn't result in them becoming Cyborg Malta X, but maybe they simply create better guns or use nanoweaves into their ballistic armors.
  12. I kind of hope so.

Thought I would hope that the apparent "Song Blast/manipulation" would involve at least one animation/sound customization where we get a guitar.

Given it's Penumbra and Natch Council/column are supposed to also be black ops members and yet give speeches on soap boxes out in public, yes, I would take anyone in Paragon who says that very seriously. Not to their face but I sure as hell would go over to the police station/find the nearest hero and report them.

On another note, while I don't COMPLETELY agree with Techbot's designs, I do find that Malta looks a bit "fat" in design respects and might need a 'leaner' look. Their jackets are ridiculously baggy compared to even what Bill's shown, and their almost Liefieldian Pouch fetish seems a bit overkill.

For example, here's my former Malta Gunslinger's present "Operative" look:

Notice how he's got sufficient pouches and some basic armor, but all in all he's stripped down compared to an actual Malta NPC and looks sleeker. Okay, perhaps not exactly better, but this is a "thereabouts" appearance.

I'd also like to note that it would be nice to see "Public" versions of malta agents who are dressed inconspicuously and use small arms such as pistols, submachine guns, and such who can be used in outdoor spawns or would appear in some missions where Malta is trying to pass for something else.

They've both been given comicbook properties that suit their separate styles, and they've both made successful movies because of it.

Back on topic: This is confirmed?
I'm fairly familiar with such things, I worked with someone once to make a faction of humanized ponies for their AE arc. Ahhh... Artistic vision, granting both clarity and blindness.

Anyway though, while not directly said, it was an interview where War Witch mentioned the entire dev team was on a huge British inspiration fest after watching a lot of Dr. Who and such. Also, the Drudges were inspired partially by Slenderman.

don't remember where it is though.

I don't know why this bugs me so much... and I even like MLP and humanizations...

    also, long story short: yes.

Maelstrom's first assignment was to kill his Praetorian self. Praet Des, ironically, is member of the Carnival of Light. She's very annoyed about being ordered around by her primal self.

On the note of Twinshot, what's interesting is that in the old convergence patch notes, Twinshot was EXPRESSLY mentioned as being the Primal Earth Ricochet but it was later removed.

it's a matter of introduction. Most of the time we've been introduced to the Primal version first. This is a rare time where we meet the Praetorian first and the Primal comes later.
  21. I kind of imagine as of now, the maximum number of Shifts we'll ever get is four, putting us as even conning to the basic level 54 foes of early Incarnate content. My little wild guess also believes we will not get this final shift until Omega, and it will also be the second and last shift that will apply outside of Incarnate content.

Edit: Though I think it might also be possible there will be ways to get additional level shifts temporarily, such as the Ultimate super inspiration or even special level shifts on trials like in the mag.
  22. you're not, but for some reason the devs are stubborn about releasing new staff weapons. We have at least four models unique to NPCs.

The Tsoo "Naginata", Dream Doctor's Lamplighter, most recently the Black Knights' "double mace", and the Animus Arcana/Shadow Hunter's "Barbed Spear".

All in all, it's becoming increasingly annoying that staff launched with very few customizations to begin with and NPCs are continually given new models.

I know, right? I mean there are some serious real life titan weapons out there, or things close to them such as the actual German Zweihander.

Well the Praetorian version is explicitly mentioned to have been corrupted by darkness, and we all know that whenever Excalibur is made into an unholy sword, it grows to ridiculous proportions, regardless of media.

Arturia "Saber" Pendragon of TYPE-MOON's Fate/Stay Night franchise demonstrates:

Here we see the Holy Sword of Promised Victory; Excalibur in its normal form, albeit semi-invisible.

Here is that same blade after it, and its wielder have been tainted by darkness:

You can see she went from a Broadsword character to a Titan Weapon character with sufficient corruption.

So Pendragon is Hero 1? I find this pretty interesting.

Edit: Does leave the question, how did Praetorian Hero 1 end up in the Black Knights? Also what blade did Hero 1 in our world?
Same way her ended up one in our world: mortally wounded by his ******* son Mordred.

In all seriousness though, this all depends on what Hero 1's connection to King Arthur Pendragon was, as to my understanding, you need some connection to the family line and a noble spirit to wield Excalibur.

Is he a descendant? (Which would mean in theory he's actually descended of Mordred, would also explain the surname.) Is he a reincarnation? Maybe just a spiritual successor of someone so like King Arthur, it's pretty much the same person.
