I must admit, I am saddened the new SSA chapter isn't out because - OHMYGOD! I LIKE THIE NEW SSA AND AM EXCITED FOR WHEN I'LL FINALLY SEE IT!
Oh, well, until then I'll beat things up on my Street Justice scrapper and when the weekend rolls in play GW2. -
thank you for the responses, a friend of mine is planning to go premium soon.
-
If you have an Incarnate character and you unequip all of their incarnate abilities, can you still keep them if you go premium?

Quote:Not to mention Sam's capable of of enjoying things, like an anonymous on any 4chan board other than /b/.They're both pretty strong in the Dark Side. Buuut yeah, I gotta give the award to Venture. Sam I at least agree with from time to time.
Venture is like... Well he's like an anon on /b/. -

@Thunder
Actually, Malta Titans are referred to as 'cyborgs' due to the fact that they run on the brains of 'convicted convicts', as evidenced in 'a titan called joe', Malta will often trump up charges on people they don't like to get these brains.
@Kristen
one person had a similar idea to this, they called it was a "Hyperion" class titan. -
I actually pointed this out to my brother, his theory is that Malta doesn't actually make a Kronos titan, they make two ENORMOUS Hercules titans and they combine them.

Yeah, I mean generic flag with clear Godwin's law undertones...
At least Cole had something more original with a gold star in laurels.
Edit: I should not that I do not see this as "ripping off" given how generic the storyline is for comicbooks, but it is sad that one of the originators cannot feign originality with the concept.
Preatoria had it's writing issues, but it showed a lot of aesthetic differences from the usual "bad hero" AU world. The main colors are white and gold than red and black or something equally ominous, Cole and his praetors NEVER wear anything Nazi inspired (though David did mention Joseph Mengle had some inspiration in Malaise' design), and among the aspects focused in the Praetoria you actual go through is not just where Cole goes wrong but where he actually did go right. -
I think the real problem is, a lot of these random events tend to be zone wide and not contained to smaller areas.
I mean, I recently tried out Guild Wars 2 beta, and there was A MILLION things going on the world map I was in at once and it didn't feel overwhelming at all. -
So it's been more than a month since the release of Pandora's Box part 1, part 3 is in beta, and I believe the part 4 contact for the villainside is live in Sharkhead (with a swag-tastic pith helmet) so in light of all this I and a friend are left wondering: where is part 2?
Have they decided to withdraw the "once a month" aspect of the SSA? Was that only for Who Will Die? Or do they just want more time to keep content tested and fine tuned to avoid the almost universally poor reception of the first SSA? -
I must throw my hat in with the "new system".
My honest base condition for allowing for a new base editting system would be: As long as I can do as much as I did with the previous editor and more. -
EAT I've been thinking of lately:
Midnighter Magus (Default Magic Origin AT)
The reasons for such an AT actually would provide more than just additional lore info for the Midnight Squad, but their powersets magical theme would allow for a decently broad range of concepts. Further more, by having this AT be open to both sides, it means we can explore the darker aspects of the Midnight Squad's research.
Primary Powerset(s)- To distinguish the Midnighters from other EATs, rather than branching powerset choices or two powersets with lots of choices, instead, this becomes the one AT with multiple powersets to its name.
Elemental Forces: Elemental forces possesses a good variety of buffs/debuffs (ice/water powers), AoE Damage (Fire), high power ST damage (Wind/Lightning), and control and a pet (Earth/plants).
Mystic Forces: Mystic forces tend to be heavily centered on the more esoteric aspects of magical assaults, using Aethers (Energy/Psi) and dark aethers (Neg/Psi), this set possesses good damage options but focuses more on debuffs, control, and has a (potentially) 'stronger' pet.
War Sage: A far cry from the other other two, this primary set focuses on mystic martial prowess, your primary weapon being your handy staff and the ability to focus many enchantments into it, but this is no clone of staff melee, that is but one facet of this set that focuses most heavily on damage at a range and melee with enchantments to boost not just your staff's might, but that of other powers such as the animated swords you can summon along side you.
Secondaries powerset(s)-
Blessings of the Earth: a multiple elemental set that compliments Elemental forces, strengthens Mystic Forces, or fills in the weakness of War Sage, this secondary set provides equal parts buffs, debuffs, controls, and heal.
Mystic Insights: Focusing on eldritch powers, this set will help shore up the damage gap Mystic forces might suffer or that of their teammates focusing strongly on team buffs, which often come at the expense of your enemies. It can also help empower the pets of any of the primaries, give better focus in Elemental forces in support, or help War Sages gain small amounts of survivability and help their allies as well.
Battle Charms: This set fully backs War Sages with some team buffs, self buffs, and controls to keep opponents out of the way. With Mystic forces it can help you securely keep foes locked down and survive the rare times they escape, with Elemental Forces you can keep yourself alive and enemies out of the way for allies or locked down for relentless assaults.
Okay, this is something of a vague idea and it's 2am here, but it's an idea I've enjoyed for the longer time. -
The "Stone-faced, Soulless" remark was purely a joke, no need to look into it.
Edit: also, actually NCLauncher takes up about 10-11% of my CPU's power while steam averages 0-1% -
@Xzero
People also tend to forget that the NClauncher is much worse. Takes up more CPU, not nearly as many features, NC does not have sales of their own, cannot get it's name out nearly as well, few good titles (in my opinion at least) and very few titles to begin with. (Guild Wars, City of, Aion, Lineage I & II, and I think that's it.) Oh, also store feature on the NCLauncher doesn't work, at least for me.
Opening up to steam could be a very nice boon of advertisement and connecting, especially with things like the ability to gift in-game items between eachother. Unfortunately, the decision is actually out of Paragon Studios' hands and in the hands of stone-faced soulless, Korean businessmen.
@BrightBlueInk
I love your Avatar. And I love Lackadaisy Cats.
@Captain Electric
Do you think I was joking about the cross-promotional items? Okay, I kind of was, but seriously, if we could get things like Spy's butterfly knife and Sniper's Kukri for DB (giving us more knife DB options), Scout's bat for Warmace (the present one is not color tintable and only wood), and Spy's Ambassador, Sniper's SMG for DP, and the various, valid guns for Assault and Beam Rifle weapons, I would be AMAZINGLY happy. And the hats.
And I would also be happy to actually have some genuine quality promotional items for my TF2 backpack. -
-
Don't forget the cross promotional with Team Fortress 2!
-Soldier gets Recluse's Helmet and the Dominion of Arachnos backpack secondary. It would jut be a reskin of the buff banner that's made to look like Recluse's back legs all folded up, they all flip out while the mini-crit buff is active.
-Heavy Weapons Guy gets Statesman's masks and "The Hammers of Justice" which would be KGB reskins as just Statesman's red gloves.
-Pyro gets Preat Penelope Yin's Backpack and face details, wearing them activates Pyro Vision mode.
-Scout gets Neuron's Backpack and 'goggles', also a special reskin of BONK that looks like the Elude Icon and the use animation has Scout do the "fist to the sky/Call to justice" animation.
-Spy gains Mako's Claws (Knife reskin)
-Demoman gets Scirocco's Sword. (eyelander Reskin)
-Medic gains "Dark Watcher" coat.
-Engineer gets Anti-Matter (BLU)/Positron (RED) helmet. Gains special taunt kill "Anti-Matter Pulse" that overrides any of his weapon taunts.
-Sniper gets Manticore's bow (Huntsman reskin) and Chimera (BLU)/Manticore (RED) hat.
-All classes get a cape misc detail.
What does city of get in return?
Well, Beam rifle, assault rifle, mercs, robotics, dual pistols, and Arachnos soldiers will be getting a lot of new customizations. Oh, and hats, we'll get a lot of new hats. -
All this talk of morals and ethics versus progress makes me think of one man...
Quote:It also makes me think how awesome it would be to have a Rapture-esque zone in City of. I could totally see it happening in City of's history.Originally Posted by Andrew RyanI am Andrew Ryan, and I'm here to ask you a question.

'No!' says the man in Moscow, 'It belongs to everyone.'

Rapture!
A city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, Where the great would not be constrained by the small! And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well. -
Quote:You know who I REALLY wanted to see? Praetorian Scirocco/Imad Malak. His dedication to good but stuck with evil could translate from a curse on Primal Earth to him simply being a Responsibilities Loyalist in in Praetoria. Or maybe he's a member of the Resistance, specifically one who's trying to keep the Crusaders from going too crazy? (Also putting him back along aside BV.) Maybe some mystical affinity landed him in the Carnival of Light or War (and possibly tragically ending up in the Carnival of Vengeance)?That is an interesting thought. I wonder if that's just a loose plot end that the devs are/were going to wrap up if the vocal ranters didn't get their way and end the Praetorian plotline before it was over. A few other characters I could've imagined as counterparts:
Frostfire-Probably a member of Powers Division
Count Crey, Countess Crey, & Hopkins-Probably members of the Syndicate
Dreck, Bile and Clamor-Members of the Resistance (Crusader anarchists)
Atta-Member of the Destroyers
Emil Marcone, Guido Verandi and Sebastian Frost-Also members of the Syndicate
I don't see him as a Destroyer unless something drastic happened (then again, a lot of drastic things DID happen in Praetoria) nor the Syndicate. Though, by extension of being part of the Responsibilities, he might have ended up even in the IDF?
Sooo many possibilities. -
Quote:Well, that's actually been confirmed as mostly a meta thing. The Praet AVs were made taller so they'd be easier to see during iTrials where there'd be up to 216 player controlled entities possible (assuming an all MM trial with at least third tier lore pets) to crowd around the AV.Yeah, it was just that description and the fact that the hair is the exact same shade of red. As someone pointed out earlier, Infernia would make more sense, but when I checked her hair was a lighter color. But when I did some demo-editing to have all 3 stand next to each other I saw that Scarlet is way taller than either of them, so she probably isn't either.
But then Marauder is way taller than Back Ally Brawler, so maybe tallness is a praetorian thing. Must be the Enriche. -
Quote:Further more, keep in mind there's an ironic aspect to it all too: PC Heroes and villains alike can make use of the Faceless mook trope or avert it.You mean a bit like this?
Even so, the logic of 'Redshirts' being the ones without helmets doesn't work in CoH, because none of them ever bite it. The helmeted variety kick the bucket by the boat load, however.
Anyway! Helmetless Arachnos! We need them.
Heck, this is even zig zagged among NPCs. Lots of basic longbow mooks don't wear the full masks, but the lieutenants do, the bosses don't. The Legacy chain's Minions except for the Legacy of Steel have their faces unobstructed, the most powerful variety of bosses, The Tellus of the Earth though, seem to invoke "faceless mook".
Mercenary and Thugs MMs tend to be STRONGER when their faces get covered. (Punks, Spec ops, and Enforcers). -
I'll /sign this.
I'm really really tired of how Widows get to have their pretty faces out while us grunts are stuck in some of the dumbest helmet designs ever. -
funny enough, this is averted by the factions that use the long skirts like (formerly) the CoT and Tsoo. how? The same way legs don't stick out everywhere with pants: by making the legs in the long skirt not modeled.

Quote:A surprisingly good point and distinction made there. Randomly, if Sith were only more trusting... or clever enough, they probably could have made a butt load of Siths and then turned them into something like the Seer Network. Then again, it seemed Vader and the Emperor really were all that were needed.That doesn't make him incompetent - it makes him immoral.
For example, apart from when story requirements came first, the Empire in Star Wars was portrayed as pretty competent - but it was also totally immoral.
Also, on the note of putting Chimera under Belladdona, that's just being mean. Besides, you know Bella's first order to him would be "kill yourself." right? -
Quote:Well he meant actually ruling people. The act of taking over the world, yeah, he was good at that, though to be fair, he kind of had help.Actually, he was extremely good at it - that's what made him the most dangeous AV we've met so far.
And while some might argue he did rule competently, I kind of say you lose enormous points in "competency" as a ruler when you're dependent on thought police, secret police, drugged water to placate citizens, etc. etc.
But he at least supported decent sanitation unlike the Recluse.
But on that note, Paragon and the Isles are MUCH bigger than Praetoria, so it could be argued Cole just had a lot less to clean up. -
