A new enemy for the Malta group.

Just something that occured to me this afternoon while beating up a Kronos titan. The Zeus titans are made of two Hercules titans combined. The Kronos in turn uses the same model as the Zeus, just scaled up and grey. It has the same extra legs folded away on the back that the Zeus has, thus one can only assume that it too is made of two smaller titans combined together.

Why haven't we seen those ones? Seems like a cool thing to put in as a Malta EB. Alternately, if the events of the DA personal story mission which I won't spoil go ahead, perhaps they could be the boss of an incarnate trial? Two smaller bosses which combine into one when they hit 50% or some such. I think it'd be cool.

It's just two grey Hercules Combined, they can repeat this indefinitely

It's because re-colouring existing assets is quicker than making a whole new model. *shrug*

That doesn't really address the suggestion, though, which is to add the two smaller Titans that make up the Zeus as enemies in the Malta Group. They'd literally be large silver Hercules Titans, and I'm just fine with that. Tag them as elite bosses and have them show up from time to time.

I actually pointed this out to my brother, his theory is that Malta doesn't actually make a Kronos titan, they make two ENORMOUS Hercules titans and they combine them.

No, no, you misunderstand me;

I'm pretty damn sure that the Kronos is meant to be a Titan all on it's own. As in, there IS no combiner stage.

However, instead of making a whole new model that was unique to the Kronos, it would be much easier to simply use the Zeus model, which is more imposing looking, scale it up and re-colour it.

As it is, there is nothing in lore to suggest Malta has any 'in-between' stage Titans. The reason the Kronos looks the way it does is highly likely to be purely for metagame reasons, i.e. it was cheaper/faster resources wise.

I believe the suggestion is to add those "in-between" Titans, regardless of whether they've existed before or not.

You don't need any special lore justification, since the Titans are just robots that Malta built (unless there's an obscure plot twist buried deep in some forgotten story arc that says otherwise) - and you can always build more robots. (Just ask Dr. Wily and Dr. Robotnik)

The only backstory you need is "This robot is more powerful than Zeus Titans, but less expensive to manufacture than Kronos Titans". They could even say that they redesigned the Kronos to be a combination of these two robots, thus bringing lore in line with the model used, or vice-versa.

Make it an Elite Boss (since the Malta Group doesn't seem to have any EBs currently), and there you go. In-between robot made.

I"d be down for this. More robots to shoot down is a good thing.

Also... maybe don't make it able to combine, because not everybody is up to fighting a Kronos, just in case multiple ones show up. Granted, I could see the benefit in making them able to combine...

@Thunder
Actually, Malta Titans are referred to as 'cyborgs' due to the fact that they run on the brains of 'convicted convicts', as evidenced in 'a titan called joe', Malta will often trump up charges on people they don't like to get these brains.

@Kristen
one person had a similar idea to this, they called it was a "Hyperion" class titan.

I was going to go with Hades personally, but Hyperion works as well.

Perhaps worth noting, there's nothing in lore that I know of that specifically says the Kronos isn't made up of two smaller titans the same as the Zeus is. We've just never seen the smaller once since they don't currently exist ingame. I think they should, is all. Might've been just because it was easier to make the model in the first place, but I think they should run with it now that they've done it.

Why can't it be two Zeus titans glued together?

I must have missed that arc, though it doesn't change the basic premise of what I said, really. Whether they're run by computers or human brains, they can just design and build a new type of robot body for them between the Zeus and Kronos.

Cause if it was, it would have no fewer than six extra legs folded away somewhere. And the visible ingame model only has two, so unless the others are inside....

That and the various components of it are the wrong size. If you look closely at the Zeus and Hercules titans, things like the legs are the exact same size between the two. And the torso is as well, it's visibly two titans of the exact size and design of the Hercules hooked together into one larger titan.
