Helmetless Arachnos Soldiers

I know for fact this has been suggested before, but I got a reminded today when, while swapping gender on a Bane Spider costume, I suddenly ended up with a female Wolf Spider with no helmet.

Now, the funny thing was, it was even listed differently in the drop-down. Instead of 'Wolf & Helm', which is the default, it just said 'Wolf'. There was even a long list of the expected stuff, like hair, head details, etc.
I was so surprised and busy flicking through menus to see what had just happened that I forgot to screenshot it. Which is annoying, because, despite trying, I've not been able to replicate the effect. Sad panda...

HOWEVER. The very existence of that separate option, with it's own menus and labelling, make we want to point out that this suggestion has been around for ages, and that, since the correct lists and whatnot appear to already be in game....why is this not a reality, already? I have yet to hear any good counters from anyone on the Dev team...

I'll /sign this.

I'm really really tired of how Widows get to have their pretty faces out while us grunts are stuck in some of the dumbest helmet designs ever.

Those helmets are there to protect those big chunks of bone you're using for a head grunt! Granted, that much solid bone should be pretty damage resistant but still! Arachnos wants to make sure that soldiers avoid doing "Headless Horseman" imitations whenever possible.

NOW SHUT UP AND SOLDIER!

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

It's really not fair - NPC Wolf Spiders can go without helmets, after all!

What about Arbiters Daos, Rein, Hawk, and Sands, then? It's the same armor.

No, no, no, you're applying Star Trek Logic when you should be using Gears of War logic. I.e. if you're wearing a helmet, you have about a 90% chance of catching the spontaneous dead. Helmetless vastly increases your survival chances

For me, I'd rather be a trekkie than testosterone-overloaded Stocky Refrigerator Space Marine™ Big McLargehuge.

You mean a bit like this?

Even so, the logic of 'Redshirts' being the ones without helmets doesn't work in CoH, because none of them ever bite it. The helmeted variety kick the bucket by the boat load, however.

Anyway! Helmetless Arachnos! We need them.

Further more, keep in mind there's an ironic aspect to it all too: PC Heroes and villains alike can make use of the Faceless mook trope or avert it.

Heck, this is even zig zagged among NPCs. Lots of basic longbow mooks don't wear the full masks, but the lieutenants do, the bosses don't. The Legacy chain's Minions except for the Legacy of Steel have their faces unobstructed, the most powerful variety of bosses, The Tellus of the Earth though, seem to invoke "faceless mook".
Mercenary and Thugs MMs tend to be STRONGER when their faces get covered. (Punks, Spec ops, and Enforcers).

Frankly, I prefer the term "badass." If someone can waltz into battle with no helmet and live to tell about it, let him go helmetless.

If Chuck Norris joined Arachnos (if Arachnos was a real organization, which it isn't of course,) would he wear a helmet?

to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!

This is related.

This too.

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

Not sure I understand, you get a mission early on to provide an alternate costume slot to go "undercover" - and you can use any costume part on the 2nd slot.

I currently have a hooded soldier - none of the funky soldier costume pieces.

I mean the Arachnos Soldier uniform, the armour variant in slot 1. Right now, you can ONLY have that slot with a helmet on. Unlike the Widows, who can have a helmet or not. I'm asking (as many others have done) to have the option of a 'no helmet' option on that first, armoured slot.

Example;

Operative Kuzmin

It's possible. We KNOW it's possible. Yet the players, for no apparent decent reason, do not have access to that option.

And, before anyone says 'UI coding' or anything like that, go back and read the OP. The UI already exists, I saw it. I only wish I'd thought to take screenshots for swapping away from it. And now it seems non-replicable.
Either way, this should not be a hard request to fulfil, given everything is already in-game...
