Heh, I had actually made a similar suggestion a long time ago, only instead of the fog lifting for a less ominous feel, the fog lifted to reveal just hos dark and corrupted Dark Astoria had become. Basically I summed it as: "just imagine, a noob goes into Dark Astoria and thinks 'this place is kind of foggy and boring, I can't see too well. What's with that air raid siren? Oh, hey, the fog's lifting, I can se-... OHMYGODCHANGEITBACK!CHANGEITBACK!FORTHELOVEOFGOD,B RINGBACKTHEFOG!'"

she meant directly under stairs. You know, to avoid it kind of being like opening some doors in the Winchester Mansion that leading out into open air and people falling down them? Usually they install a landing.

  4. No, seriously.
In this thread, let us discuss, brainstorm, and leave pitches for the Devs (assuming they look at this thread) for new story content ideas. So stop whining and put your money where your mouth is, fellow CoX players and forumites!
I should note, this is mostly to present rough ideas, no pressure for elaboration.
To lead off I present some of the following possible hooks:

Villains: TFs, storyarcs, zones, etc. for the bad boys

(zone) The Mysterious Island- An island has been discovered not far from the Rogue Isles, it's impossible to say how it's been missed until now, but Villains will find themselves in a strange and winding plot as they seek to raid what resources the island may have that leads them to...

(TF) The Captain Nemo Strikeforce- A new man has taken the helm of the Nautilus as well as the mantle of Captain Nemo, and he invites you to join in him his crusade of revenge against heroes.

(Incarnate TF) The Corruption of Amatsu-Mikaboshi- Villains can learn to harness the power of the primordial Japanese god to corrupt and weaken their foes while strengthening themselves.

    Heroes:

(Zone) Nemesis, California: Heroes will find themselves moving between past and present to unravel the strange mysteries of a city founded by Nemesis in the decline of the Gold Rush in a Nemesis plot that spans across centuries.

(Incarnate TF) The Legacy of Gilgamesh- Who better to learn about the true nature of the Well from than the first one to have imbibed themselves of it?
  5. Well, for something like the Incarnate system, I wanna fight the old world heroes and villains!
Let Odin descend from Asgard to seek warriors to help battle Ragnarok! Let me team up with Gilgamesh and Enkidu to fight Humbaba! I want to join forces with Susanoo and Amaterasu to placate Izanami and thwart Amatsu Mika-Boshi! To team with Nuada of the Tuatha Dannan to slay Balor once more! We should be exploring the lost City of Eldorado, learning from monks in Shangri La, plundering the lost Treasures of the Templar!

Of course, classical literature would also be great too. Captain Nemo strikeforce anyone?

This is one of the biggest problems of Morality in Videogames. We are not presented with morality based on our own ideas (which could be difficult, so understandable) or even by a majority, but we are defined by morality as Developers view it.

    Jet packs bad Idea...fine

how about a respec and 4 incarnate shards
    or
a respec and free tailor token
    or
respec token and a mission transporter power (for those of us with the mac item pack a second one ...I wouldn't mind a second one)

As a random note about the idea of jetpacks, I kind of have an third option proposal: 69 month vet reward, in addition to the respect, could grant you permanent versions of all the present jet pack powers, such as the rocket pack booster, the jingle jet, the gold bricker pack, and the raptor pack.
They're not costume pieces, so they wouldn't be locked out costume pieces. This also does just as well, given that the sixty nine month reward is after getting the city traveler vet reward, and being temp powers, they still don't take any enhancements.

    So, how does that sound?

no one has, but I was thinking about them when I was asking if we should do a Vet Reward Revamp thread.
I mean I can't tell you how many times I've used the single shoulder capes for my ninja. Also, Samurai armor and wings were a BIG Jarater for me since I've had a Samurai character since day one (or beginning my account) and a Magical Girl character named "Cherry Blossom ANGEL."
  9. My catgirl Revi would be flying around in a two seater, custom modified Longbow Chaser with one of her sisters.
Said jet would be named The TurboKat.

My main Katana/SR samurai would ride around with... His Customized Jeep Wrangler? Well, not everyone owns a custom chassis Batmobile. He is also trying to get a P-51 Mustang restored.

Uhhh... Gilgamesh is the King of Heroes, Jesus (depending on your religious views) was the King of Kings.
Also, Gil totally could have won that fight if he stopped being a prideful idiot and Gate of Babylowned Shirou.

I know what you mean. I actually hate the Incarnate story-lines for the most part too, but when this idea came to me and I remember Gilgamesh is vaguely alluded to in the Origin of Powers, it seemed to make sense.

In some degree of my inner shipper, I imagine that the Well of Furies sees Cole as a silver Medal to her old God King of Babylon.
It would also mean it would be cool to learn Gilgamesh is still alive and will arrange for Incarnates to make a direct attack on the Well of Furies itself in the future. (Hopefully, he will refer to all players as "Mongrels")
  11. I can also get behind this, given one of the pains of trying to make my ocelot girl is that I can't match skintone to chest tone.
  12. I would like to propose we start a thread dedicated to revamping Vet-rewards.

    All for?

    All opposed?

Why would Jack Emmert like it? He favors Greek Mythology over other mythologies, and it would show that Statesman and even Marcus Cole are pretty half-rate Incarnates compared to the infinite power of the God Emperor.

Glad you did enjoy the random spiel, it kind of came yo me when I was only half-awake and mostly spurred on by remembering that, in City of's game lore, the original Age of Heroes began back during the reign of Gilgamesh.

Hmmm, what specific look were you trying for? Were you trying to accentuate his status as The Wild Man or as the companion to Gilgamesh? Also, if you have images, please post them, I'm curious now.

  18. Now, this is kind of a silly thing to speculate on, but I felt I should try, and despite how I tend to dislike the Well hijacking everything. I felt it has a special place here, and maybe other folks could help piece this together?

Basically, I have this theory that Gilgamesh of Babylonian Mythology was the original Incarnate, in legend he is described as 'Two Thirds God, on third man' which is theoretically impossible unless... That last faction of divinity beyond half could be attributed to the Well's favor, and Gilgamesh describes EVERYTHING the Well would favor in an Incarnate.
Powerful (even before it came into the picture), ambitious, and thirsting for adventure and to expand his empire.
But doesn't Incarnatedom leave you with immortality? That thing Gilgamesh had half of an epic devoted to seeking?
The reasons are obvious: A) he wanted to bring back Enkidu in this case, and B) at some point he had a falling out with the Well, I would bet the Well also couldn't control Gilgamesh because he had such a powerful will and was strong by default. It's also possible that in City of-verse, The Well was actually Ishtar. (Afterall, if the well can take many forms, what's to say it couldn't also take the shape of a woman?)

Adding to this, and to alleviate the devs from the awkwardness of writing gilgamesh and enkidu's relationship as... Something closer. (as much as golden girl would love it.)
It could be that Enkidu was a child spawned between Gilgamesh and the Well, thus, Enkidu and Gilgamesh's closeness was that of a father and son, and more than that, a father, who is horribly bored, finally meeting his worthy equal.

Thus, with Enkidu having a much stronger connection to the Well of Furies, the Well's control was strong enough to kill him after Gilgamesh T'd her off too much.

tl;dr: Wild mass guessing: Gilgamesh was an Incarnate, The Well of furies used to be a goddess known as Ishtar, and Enkidu was their son.
    What do you folks think?
  19. Given the mixed popularity of these, and how much of a sucker I am for them, I thought I'd start this thread where we can sort of make a list of some of our favorite Fan-made Music Videos.

With all that said, I present some from my favorites:

-AMV Drillz *Pogo Tribute* (Toyz Noize by Pogo to Gainax's Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann)

-Heart of Saber (T.M. Revolution's Heart of the Sword to Fate/Stay Night Visual novel)
For something a little more animated...
    -AMV-Phantasm (RPTN's Cell to Fate/Stay Night's animated Adaptations)
    And one more for now...
-Soul Eater-This Is Halloween (Marilyn Manson Version)

Lately I've been thinking that, despite what the creators say, the Avatar isn't exactly a reincarnating soul, more like an Exalted Essence that chooses a soul to bound with a moves on when its previous vessel dies. At least given how Aang sometimes seems to interact with the previous Avatars in ways that could be called more than just memories of their personalities.
  21. Megatron does realize he's riding not just any jet, but Starscream, who will probably turn over and leave him to rust in deep space while he goes off and takes over the Decepticons again, right?

Also, fiery and Ice melee deal lethal because you're creating swords with said elements.

I know it boosts secondary affects, but -def is not really a powerful debuff because most NPC mobs use Resistance over Defense, those that have Defense, it's a negligible amount or flatout useless against the superior accuracy of PC powers. Furthermore, katana and broadsword scrappers can already stack some heavy -def on a target, I once achieved a -50% defense debuff on one foe.

Fiery Melee might have DoT too, but it also does have a superior damage power. Two actually.
