I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, because I'm not, but changing the Stalker's Repulse to a stun aura, doesn't that break the cottage rule?
otherwise HOT F-KING DAMN! IT'S ABOUT TIME! -
Quote:I think that aspect could be safely ignored. I mean look at Broadsword's heavier attacks, which produce a more smashy CRUNCH effect than the intended SLICE! Yet the set is all Lethal damage.Quote:When they get to that size, I'm pretty sure that all their smashes are lethal
OHMIGAWD! YOU'RE A CHRONO CRUSADE FAN TOO?! Did you read the manga too? -
nice work, but between the way Vanguard weapons are made and what titan weapons are likely to do, that seems like a pure lethal weapon than one also capable of smash.
-
Quote:Based on my own experience with my DM/SR scrapper, the set overall gets better with Soul Drain, but also depends.Dose it get better with Soul drain? Dose soul drain last longer than buid up?
If you're fighting mobs, it's awesome (ironically, AoE is kind of DM's weak point, but not nearly the degree as EM's), if you're fighting one dude, it's kind of a waste.
Soul drain does, however, last for up to 30 seconds, to make up for it's long recharge and situational effectiveness.
Also, Dark Consumption will be another important thing since it can partly make up for your end burn. -
Quote:/em offer tin foil hat and shipping gogglesIf Turndown Girl didn't actually like Desperate Guy, I see no reason why she'd spend so much time hanging around with him.
Here's the the truth, I bet: they're both mutants, with Desperate Guy having been born with ability to crank out hokey one-liners, while Turndown Girl has the ability to automatically rebuff anything said to her.
Despite the apparent friction they have while out clubbing, they're actually a loving couple, happily married at that. They just don't have effective control over their mutant powers. -
You know, on second thought, maybe for Rularuu, the anti-Spiral's Grand Zamboa would make for a better armor:
though the "two sets of arms" part could get tricky, but hey, it wouldn't be an exact replica, and even if it was, the Anti-Spiral only really used them once in the fight for his Judgement po- I mean Big Bang Infinity Storm. -

I gotta go with Bill here. Unless Base Raids are brought back somehow or bases are given a hell of a lot more function (see my sig on improving base function), there's not much of a reason to keep the exchange rate so damn dismal.
You're the top SG on your server, good for you!
You have a really awesome base and hit the item cap faster than anyone else, YAY! -
Quote:To bring up another problem with this is that you failed to fully read that the guy who dropped from Leandro's Trial had ended up dropped out for quite some time BEFORE they autofailed.I really don't want to get involved in this thread, but I feel I have a point to make here.
If the developers set the precedent that the Players themselves can dictate how many or how few players are needed for any particular task or event, the player base will immediately respond by demanding that every other particular task or event with a specific-number-of-players-required-limitation have that specific-number-of-players-required-limitation removed.
Whether or not you, or Leandro likes it, the developers have to stick to their guns when it comes to minimum players in a task or event.
If that means shutting down a in-progress trial that has dropped to 11 players from 12? Well, sorry, them's the breaks.
Combine this with other issues mentioned about DCing from trials and what you have is basically an issue where people can practically auto-fail AT ANY TIME, even if the normal auto-fail conditions had been met as early as before the cut scene. -
Quote:I can see where it would just be a "dumb decision" with PBs grabbing flight, but Warshades grabbing flight or teleport pools on the other hand could have a slightly more profound effect. Especially with the latter case. think about it: teleport spammed to new levels, recall foe spam...While on that topic, reopen the flight and teleport pools to kheldians. If some tool chooses flight pool: fly on a peacebringer that already has energy flight at level one, that's his problem.
Actually, it would be pretty damn kickass. where can I sign for this? -
-
You know, I was just thinking how weird it was that the Incarnate Trial level shifts don't apply to Apex or Tin Mage.

Quote:*Points to signature*A thread for suggesting costume pieces you'd like to see added to the game! There's an awful lot to pick from already, I know.
Here's my suggestions:
* A beret with long hair. Or any hat, really, that doesn't enforce a buzzcut.
* A proper china dress
* Proper zettai ryouiki! That is: Tall stockings that nearly reach, but do not disappear into, the "Flared" Skirt length. True 'Absolute Territory'.
* A design for boots that simply puts a thin colored highlight line at the top.
* Hairbows and ribbons. Hairstyles that incorporate ribbons.
* Long single tails, twintails, and braided tails for both genders. Chinese Shao Lin monks are men with braided ponytails, so it stands to reason.
** Of course, this last one would be better if a suitable 'Long Hair' system is implimented, which is discussed in another thread of mine.
Not-quite-related
* Pistols and assault rifles should change the sound effect used if you change the gun. A Mac 10 submachine gun doesn't have even remotely the same sound as a magnum revolver.
There's also Sexy Jay's Costume request thread in the developer's forums. Though an all things art thread might be your best bet. -
*has to make this random gameplay-story integration joke*
You know, as stated, it's less the artwork in the end I suppose and more that Sister Psyche's costume baffled me for the climate she was in.*
But I suppose as a psychic she can easily block out weather issues, but it must suck on teaming that she needs to throw up Personal Force Field every so often just to keep warm. (Not to mention piss off her teammates)
*thinking about it, BABs and other Freedom Phalanx or Vindicator members *cough*SWAN*cough* are also pretty big offenders of being dressed a bit poorly for New England climate. -
Quote:I still can't help but think the logic is a little backwards. It's kind of hard to appreciate something that you'll see once in a blue moon.We got an answer to this already: never.
To paraphrase the post in question: the armour was designed with 50s and Incarnates in mind and it would be insulting to the artists who put so much work into making them for them to be available anyway else.
Which is why I'm not even bothering to unlock either set. Great suggestion but shot down already.
Edit - Posi said it here: -
I know you said you didn't want sympathy, but I still give mine to you. I inwardly we may have been on the same trial and I was yet another person who passed you by, if I was, I am sincerely sorry.

This thread is meant to help keep track of all the All Things Art Threads by Noble Savage and Tunnel Rat in one place (as well as reduce my signature size, ha ha) for people who might have trouble finding them.
The threads are many and easily vanish from even the tenth pages of the General Discussion forums, and so may it be here that they might vanish, but ever disappear for people who seek them.
Without further aideu, the All Things Art Threads.
David "Noble Savage" Nakayama's threads...
-All Things Art What started all.
-All Things Art: Super Boosters By the input of this thread we got our Animal Booster and our Steampunk Booster. That's a pretty good track record already.
-All Things Art: Building Edition My personal favorite.
-All Things Art: 'Lost' Costume Pieces Do you remember when players had access to the Vanguard back pieces? Two pattern pants? Females had access to a certain face you can't find anymore? Well, these people do and are letting it be known to the higher powers.
-All Things Art: Animation Edition AKA "No, The Party Pack Emotes Do Not Count as 'Formal Dancing'."
-All Things Art: NPC Conversions I should note here that long skirts/robes, Carnival/Kheld sashes, and Cimeroran Sybil costumes have already been requested multiple times. So please feel free to reinforce those requests.
And Tunnel Rat Presents...
-All Things Art: FX Edition!
Dink Presents:
-All Things Character Art -
Quote:I actually considered it like this as well, though I would still find it a little surprising since Sister Psyche's a Rik' War Vet (an' killed fiddy men!), can given that that was a global event across, more than just confined to Galaxy City...This is not a comment about how the art looks, but I wanted to comment on the idea of Sister Psyche being overcome.
I am not familiar enough to know if she has displayed the powers of empathy, mind reading and/or any sort of telepathic link to others.
Psychics who do have such powers may be a bit overcome in such enormous situations, due to a sudden flood of panicked cries, thoughts and feelings of anguish from the large number of victims.
I am not saying anything about the pose or the face, nor any social commentary about the woman panicking and the male standing strong and resolute... I am just commenting on the concept of a psychic's possible reaction to such things. Some times, even, the more powerful a psychic is, the worse. I'm not saying that they can't compose themselves... or even keep themselves composed and functional the entire time... but they still often may have visible indicators of the emotions they are sensing from others.
It's a fun, and dramatic, aspect of psychic characters that I've seen in many works of fiction.
Anyway... just saw a lot of people scratching their heads about that specific aspect of the situation being depicted in that picture and was surprised that no one seemed to think of that angle. -

Quote:I would want to apologize to the artists, personally. I know myself how frustrating finishing something and then either receiving reception of how not-good it is, or looking at it yourself and feeling frustrated... As my own apology, I link you guys to the netherregions of the Internet known as... My old DevArt page. Thanks for your feedback regarding the new loading screens. We are extremely excited about these panels you've been shown and are eagerly anticipating being able to show you the rest of the comic
when Issue 21 launches. I have been speaking with Noble Savage, El Topo and Second Measure regarding some of your concerns, and we certainly understand some of the viewpoints being expressed in this thread.
A few things we can clarify really quickly:
- Back Alley Brawler is being illuminated by a gigantic fiery meteor of doom, which at it's position is akin to being a light source as bright as the sun. As such the lighting has a bit of a bright orange hue to it, which has been saturated to an extent. There's definitely no intent of changing skin tone.
- Sister Psyche's expression is one of both shock and fear, which we consider an appropriate reaction to an apocalyptic storm of death and destruction hurtling at her from above. As a member of the Freedom Phalanx, nothing short of a world threatening event could evoke this kind of reaction from her.
The above being said, we have been paying attention to your thoughts. We'll be making some very subtle adjustments to the image which address these concerns while still preserving its artistic integrity.
We're very excited to be exploring this new artistic direction with City of Heroes Freedom. This style of comic book is something that's considered new and cutting edge to many comic book enthusiasts and we're stoked to be leading the way among Super Heroic MMO's in evolving our style to embrace it.
Of they managed to survive that with their eyesight intact, they can feel free to laugh and disregard my own critiques... - Back Alley Brawler is being illuminated by a gigantic fiery meteor of doom, which at it's position is akin to being a light source as bright as the sun. Since I don't think I've already said it, I will say that the overall idea sounds amazing, though I do worry about fast loaders, I mean if this is supposed to take place within loading times, and it does seem a clever work around the pain cutscenes, and the artwork is good, though it does feel strange compared to David's previous artwork (though all that i had seen previously were concept art, for which a good difference may occur), and to be frank, my problems with Sister Psyche's outfit predate this by a long stretch.
It's just the fact that she's dressed in straps and lace IN NEW ENGLAND!
Though BAB, I must say just looks meme worthy, not helped that he looks like one of the guys in the famous Gaijin Four Koma. -
Ever notice how Malta's usual companion in conspiracy is the Knives of Artemis? shapely women who squeeze into tight, full body cat suits, swing swords?

Quote:I dunno, story writing wise I'd say Keyes is cool. Plus I gotta give Keyes props for being man enough to take on up to eighteen PCs on his own when all the others need to keep calling in backup. Two thumb's-up for the Good Spider morality mish! Which is worlds-away better than that boring Silent Blade thing.
Give the writer of that one a raise. But give whoever came up with that Keye's Island mess a demotion. If its the same person I guess those two things cancel each other out. -
My favorite part is tearing apart Lord Recluse's Arbiters like they're common mooks. Oh wait, THEY ARE NOW!
