Quote:/emDavyJones TonyV, you are a cheat and liar! And will serve an eternity on this ship. You kids these days with your "We want convenience!" whining!
Back when I started, we didn't have multiple costume slots, and we didn't even have Icon stores! You rolled your character, and whatever costume you picked, THAT WAS IT! "Oh, I wish I had a red shirt instead of a green one!" Yeah, well, DELETE your character and make a new one! "But I'm level 40!" Suck it up, you Nancy; that's why they gave you a whopping EIGHT character slots!
And we LIKED it that way! -
I'll /sign this.

Well, it could be heroic. Have the bomb set up the detonate on impact and make sure statesman serves. He'll shrug off the explosion which will rocket the ball towards the Arachnos side faster than they can react, winning the Freedom Phalanx the first point!
-

funny enough, long ago I had actually made a thread like this, the best suggestions added were:
- A Big Red Ball on the beach that players could kick around.
- NO SNAPTOOTH
- Water pistol, water rifle, and water balloon temp powers (does nothing, but maybe they could deal bonus damage against fires?)
What kind of missions could you have for this? Well, one person also proposed heroes and villains could team up... To stop the Tarantula Mistress Bikini contest and force Black Scorpion and Wretch to wear something more than a speedo.
To make it even better, unlike most holiday events, we could have plenty signature characters hanging around in a non-canonical manner just enjoying themselves. The Freedom Phalanx Vs. Arachnos... IN VOLLEYBALL! -
Quote:it happens when I stack rage twice with against all odds capped. Some of SS's attacks TRY for a mid-high tier feel like Foot Stomp and Hand Clap, but the damage just isn't there to support it. Look at how much effort it takes just to destroy a car. Or when you can't even knock over a Malta boss, who's just a normal guy in a blue cowboy hat. Or how much damage you deal compared to a teammate brandishing a wooden baseball bat. And when's the last time you knocked someone through a wall? Or picked up a truck?

Quote:This whole APP set seems very off, it doesn't follow even the pattern of Patron Power Pools, much less Ancillary Power Pools. The usual pattern for these tends to be two controls, a ranged attack, an AoE ranged attack, and something unique.Okay, I'll be the first to admit that this is Thread Necromancy, but I have been thinking about a Scrapper APP suggestion for a while and have finally decided to make it:
Gladiator Mastery
An ancillary power pool which provides a patchwork of five different powers typical of gladiatorial combat:
Slice - borrowed from the Broadsword power set. Not available to Broadsword primaries, which would instead get Crowd Control, borrowed from the Tanker War Mace power set.
Pendulum - borrowed from the Tanker Battle Axe power set.
Javelin (would require new animation and graphics) - a medium-ranged attack, hurls a javelin (lethal damage).
Invigoration - self-buff, +Regen, +To Hit, +Damage.
Phalanx Fighting - borrowed from the Shield Defence power set. Not available to Shield Defence secondaries, which would instead get Superior Conditioning, borrowed from the Stalker Body Mastery APP.
I realise that some of these powers are Tier 9s in their native power set, and I suspect that, were they to be borrowed to create this APP, there would doubtless be some nerfing. Nevertheless, I think something like this would be really nice for a scrapper (or perhaps a stalker) to have.
Weapon and Shield customisations would be necessary, so this APP should not be considered until APPs and PPPs get some customisation love
Also, shield customizations for this set would not be needed because phalanx fighting is a passive.
In response to Sam's proposals and with a few of my own, as well as to now show off my own hypocrisy...
Voltaic Mastery (I don't care if there's another Electrical APP with this name, the different APP set names for each AT always did seem weird to me)-
41) Charged Bolts
41) Tesla Cage
44) Jolting Chain
44) Voltaic Sentinel
47) Static Discharge
Munitions Mastery-
41) Bean Bag
41) Burst
44) Glue Grenade (Similar to what SWAT Equalizers will use)
44) M30 Grenade
47) Heavy Burst
Pistoleer Mastery
41) Suppressive Fire
41) Crippling Shot: Minor Damage, Moderate Recharge, Single Target Immobilize
44) Pistols (Alt: Swap Ammo)
44) Dual Wield
47) Empty Clips
Archery Mastery (admittedly making the second least sense given Scrappers don't have a pistol or archery related set...)
41) Entangling Arrow
41) Flash Arrow
44) Aimed Shot
44) Rapid Fire: +Recharge Speed (50%, Archery Mastery only), Special (Quickens animation time on Archery Mastery Powers*)
47) Fistful of Arrows
*Probably use whatever tech they're using for Titan Weapons. -
Given that they still haven't updated or removed Unai Kemen's "To Click a Thousand Glowies"/"To Farm a Thousand Maps" I'd say they don't mind it.
Seriously though, given how they took to AE farming, I don't think they appreciated it very much. -
I'm pretty sure New York still exists and is still a major city, I think it was mentioned on the site's backstory page during the Rikti invasion as important enough to attack.
Given the overall lack of housing, though the common-ness of Apartments, I'd actually venture to say Paragon's ACTUAL population is small, but a lot of people work there regularly. -
He looks too thin in this. For crap's sake Golden Girl, we're talking about a guy who wears powered armor.
His upper legs look like you gave him Clockwork legs.
His crotch is too narrow, men have hips too.
Your pleats are uneven
And your costume's style is overall reminiscent of Pret-a-porter and not true French Haute Couture. -

Quote:Actually, it's 20-29 now.Don't forget that First Ward is just 20-25 - Vanessa doesn't die until 50 - so we don't know what happens to Katie during 25-50.
Also, I do agree that the story of Praetoria seems to be geared towards becoming bleaker and bleaker, I think the point being driven home is to give heroes, absolute clear conscience to attack the place at higher levels.
But I do give warning to the Devs that if they don't start giving Praetoria some honest-to-god bright spots with no strings attatched, you're going to end up with even Golden Girl wondering why it wouldn't just be better to toss a couple thousand nuclear warheads into Praetoria and call it a day. -
Quote:Like I said: depends on how much of Cole's actions have been influenced by Hamidon holding a (proverbial) gun to his head, his (proverbial) wife's head, and his (proverbial) daughter's head.So basically they're turning the Darkness Induced Audience Apathy up to 11?
Might also lead to Cole being abadoned by the Well of Furies if the guy, for all his 'willpower' is just letting himself constantly get pushed around by jello Zerg. -
Quote:Nah, I meant it's like how The Loyalist Responsibilities arcs all were themed around doing things you'd rather not want to, but they really are the only option.Wait. So me saving Katie Douglas all those times didn't happen?
So, the Loyalist Responsibility arc is the way the storyline progresses?
*MASSIVE FIRST WARD ARC SPOILERS*
Katie is free, and living in the First Ward with other Seers because she doesn't want to be weaponized by Calvin Scott anymore than she liked being weaponized by Cole.
Later, you're supposed to reactivate the Seer network to protect the First Ward from a brunt of the Hate Plague, Katie gets hateful at you for that, and guess what happens and who ends up being the only seer in the room who can help you reactivate it. It's made only SLIGHTLY better because Vanessa promised to free Katie once everything was over, come the end of the First Ward and you never hear anything about Katie being freed from the network again...
And apparently, now Vanessa's died before she could make good on her promise. -
Quote:And Vanessa apparently never got around to freeing Katie Douglas from the Seer network again. Lovely, between this and the First Ward arcs it's like playing the Responsibilities path all over again. The Avatar of the Hamidon kills Vanessa DeVore, and Desdemona uses Vanessa's mask to recover the secret she was carrying with her:
Also, this does bring in an interesting dynamic as to whether this means Cole might be a bit nicer if Hamidon were gone from the picture. -
Quote:Don't forget: while other Incarnate Trial foes are little girls and keep trying to summon backup, ANTI-MATTER TAKES ON A WHOLE GROUP OF INCARNATES BY HIMSELF.
- It takes at least twice as many people to beat you up than it does to beat up Neuron. Which means you're at least TWICE AS BETTER.
Possibly WITHOUT the additional support of the Well Cole's been passing out to other Praetors like candy, but Anti-matter? He just needs his GENIUS! -
Given he's also wielding a pair of fiery gauntlets, I'd probably say the torture device.
Hey, at least he didn't have something that granted him spines powers and threatned you with "The judas craddle". -
Spark Blade's gotta be my favorite male character design.
Shame he's not in game, thought understandable. -
-
Actually, it sort of does, going by some closer looks at the HUD Combat aura, the 'sweeping eye' used by Titans and Assault Bots, the night vision goggles used by the KoA, and the skins of the Coralax.

Quote:I should note here that, interestingly, there are different modifiers for ranged and melee damage. This is very interesting given that this seems to make no difference since they only ways for scrappers, brutes, tanks, and stalkers to get ranged attacks are through Epic Power Pools and certain power sets, all of those use the melee damage modifier for calculating damage in such cases though.Surely by now people get that the Ancillary Pools aren't there to suddenly turn your character into an amazing one?
At level 38 you've got, for generic purposes, all of the power-set choices you'll take for that character. The Ancillaries don't add anything to those powers but they might plug a gap, without dramatically changing the nature of the AT. So you won't suddenly get Team Heals for Scrapper APPs.
Also to note is that each AT has base values for the effectiveness of their various attacks/defences/resists/buffs/debuffs/controls etc etc.
The -def of my Scrapper's Katana attacks is not as high as the -def of a /Rad Defender's blasts. But I do more damage, especially in melee, because I'm a melee AT.
So giving Scrappers 'souped-up' controls/debuffs whatever would be overpowered, because the power of the , um, power would have to be rammed up to take account for the low base value of these kinds of moves.
I certainly think that Scrapper APPs could do with some proliferation - Sonic and Electric for starters - if only for some variety.
But souping up their powers for me is a clear /unsigned.
(For example, while Laser Beam Eyes is a ranged APP, a defender would do less damage with it than a scrapper, brute, or tank.)
Also, despite Artic's comments about katana's debuffs not being as good as a defender's, my own katana/SR still once managed to bring an enemy's defense to -50% through sheer DPS. -
Hm, you know what? That actually doesn't look half bad, honestly. And while I can understand Tech's concern about Reflection tech being spammed too much in new costume parts (which based on screenshots of up coming ones, should not be too big a problem...) in this case it does help give a sense that the armor is ultimately nanite created, and it's thinness does almost suggest to me that it would be an armor that repairs (or regenerates) itself.
Also, does no one else find Valkyrie's whole backstory messed up? Her personality got overwritten by a bunch of tiny robots that effectively forced themselves into her system! She's a technological Circle of Thorns member!
Also, given that the spear came from War Earth, it's a miracle it didn't brainwash her into being a blood thirsty, wannabe Viking, raider. -
-
You know, Valkyrie's backstory is pretty damn creepy.
I mean her WHOLE personality got altered by a nanite infused spear? What happened Valerie Kellum? Does this basically mean she's, for points and purposes, dead while Valkyrie rules the body?
Can Battle Earth make more of these weapons that would effectively make them a technological version of the CoT?
