It's worth it for the AoE attacks. Open with Dwarf Stomp, then Human Stomp, then Squid Scatter. AoE as a PB is all about avoiding the knockback mechanics, and the forms help you do that.

Quote:Sorry pal, but I'm pretty sure you're not playing SR to its full potential. Elude is simply sub-par(you get purple insps for those end-cases, and using it constantly is bad for damage), 3-stacked PB is overkill and reduces your damage output(Same as Elude, but replace purple insps with BF's), and you've clearly went above and beyond the recharge you need for Katana's top attack chain, meaning you're losing out on potential damage. Its interesting to see both old and new players debating SR, and not one of them really using it close to its real potential.
My DB/SR uses inspirations for rare scenarios, and the rest is pure DPS from set bonuses, which is what SR does best. Trying to turn SR into a defensive juggernaut is just not worth it 95% of the time. -
Sonic Resonance has a minimal amount of redraw, is one of the few powersets with no -regen, and has too many toggles to afford firing off an end crash nuke.
This makes it a natural match with Beam Rifle. -
Quote:I'm not sure how it works with Hide, but the stun has pretty good synergy with KM.but my problem is i seen Disrupt, if im not mistaken the whole idea of a stalker is to be hidden, so whats the use of this power?
its not even a mag 3 so not only will it stun maybe a couple minions but its gunna bring aggro to you when you wanna be in hide, am i missing something here?
if this is the case then im gunna have to look at another idea altogether.
has anyone got experience with this set and can they give me advice over it?
appreciate it very much.
Essentially, if any of your KM stuns land on a boss, the boss will be stunned. Without Disrupt, you'd have to get lucky twice in rapid succession in order to stun a boss. -

Quote:Instead of breaking 90% of character builds and pissing off a majority of the playerbase, just give the defense-reliant powersets more tools to work with (which the devs have been doing by the way, EA is a prime example). As they should. IOs grant way too much of it which caused the devs to crank up the base tohit on new critters which in turn nerfed all the defense based sets.
Critters need to go back to base 50% tohit across the board and IO-based defense needs to be slashed. -
Assuming a damage and recharge cap? I'd cheat and just put procs in everything instead of actual enhancements. But something more reasonable...
StJ/FA
Shin Breaker(Hecatomb+Achilles' -res) => Gloom (Apocalypse+random proc) => Burn(Armageddon+pvp -res) => Shin Breaker => Gloom => Crushing Uppercut(something + purple hold proc)
Taking the damage and recharge cap further into consideration...
Shin Breaker => Rib Cracker => Gloom => Shin Breaker => Crushing Uppercut -
Here's a tip that won't cost you any inf:
1. Go to your SG base and look for the temp power machines(forgot what they're called)
2. Find out which components are required to make the lethal resistance temp power(they'll be common/uncommon salvage).
3. Add 10 of each to your vault/make sure you carry enough components to make the power at all times.
4. Before the ITF starts, use your SG base teleporter and activate the power.
5. Congrats, you now receive 25% less lethal damage for one hour(assuming your Tough+Charged Armor are well slotted). -
Quote:Let's agree to disagree.I don't aggree with first two changes;
1) Making practice brawler a pasive with on top of +regen and +recory is overkill no other power is that powerful. Maybe making it toggle as its now works better.
Quote:2) Nothing in the game gives %20 recharge bonus not even purples so increasing it further is unnecessary
There's also the recharge boost you can easily get from an SG base, which gives +20% recharge for one hour.
Quote:Giving +regen to SR is concept-wise a bad move it doesn't fit with powers concept at all and its something needs to be considered. +Recovery is also same with +regen but would be a little more plausible.
Quote:IMO SR needs a change according to its concept like maybe having reducing %5 auto-hit chance (if its possible ofcourse) by a fraction (not much to not make it broken maybe %1 or %2 tops) or providing something totally different like when an attack hits doing less damage (or something else) according to applied defense value against to-hit value so increasing defenses over soft-cap value would benefit for SR which is only set that can go over boards with ease (it would also give a reason to get elude and use it in a tight spot or in an AV fight)
Quote:Your third option makes sense but i think it will be better for each toggle (or passive) gives an unehanced to hit buff to all powers (or just primary powers) after all hitting more precisely depends on reflexes too as well as training. Ofcourse it can be a small aditional damage based on melee power set selected too.
Quote:I can't say much about fourth option as long as soft cap remains under %70 I don't see much point to use elude in current setting my suggestion above may make a different but even it will be minimal for elude. -
I would buff SR with the following:
- Make Practiced Brawler a passive with some extra minor +Regen and +Recovery(think Physical Perfection with mez protection).
- Increase Quickness' recharge buff slightly.
- Add a small chance to do Fiery Embrace's damage(which all attacks have but only FE currently activates) to Lucky.
- Add a recharge buff and a minor period of Untouchable upon activation to Elude. -
-
Quote:EA was in desperate need of a buff, and it was a rarely used powerset(this was before the profileration). I don't think it's fair to compare, but that's just my opinion.I'm not sure if I like the OP's idea specifically, but swapping which powers are part of which combos doesn't break the cottage rule. Look at the recent EA changes, for example - the set's heal got moved to a completely different power (it was removed from Energy Drain, and given back with Energize replacing Conserve Power). Even a change this dramatic was apparently not a violation of the cottage rule - or, it was, meaning even the devs don't mind breaking the cottage rule sometimes.
Quote:I kinda think the Brute/Tank/Scrapper combos are OK as-is, or at least not horrible, but the Stalker ones could definitely use a change. -
Cottage rule. The combos are core functionality of DB which should not be touched.
Also, changing Ablating Strike's recharge like that would pretty much destroy my DB/SR build(which pushes AS's recharge just enough to fit into the chain seamlessly). -
It's not bad at all, as you usually have teammates to cover for that extra defense, and there are always purple insps.
The bad part is in TPN, as the sudden -5% def/res stacking tears my SR scrapper apart. -
1. Get Barrier.
2. Get Cardiac/Resilient.
3. Get S/L/E/N defense to at least 40%(T4 Barrier can put you at the softcap all the time). Alternatively, get Positionals to at least 27.5% for a softcap with barrier+a purple insp.
4. Get Darkest Night(the debuffs put you at the incarnate softcap together with Barrier).
5. Get Recharge(Healing Flames woo)
6. Get +HP (don't forget the accolades)
7. Get the PVP +Res IO.
8. Get the survivability accolade powers (Eye of the Magus, Elusive Mind)
9. Get the following temporary powers: Kinetic Dampener(from market), Wedding Band(from stephanie peebles arc in ouro), Arachnos Power Shield(if you're a villain/feel like being a villain for a bit/just going villain for soul mastery).
10. Get the following Day Job powers: Combat Shield(Arena+Recluse's victory), Cimeroran Citizen(Cimerora)
11. Get the following SG base temporary powers: +Resists, +Recharge, -Recovery resistance
12. Importantly, manage your insps to make sure you have oranges/purples/greens at hand.
13. Most importantly, don't forget you have all those temp powers/insps/accolade powers when the s**t hits the fan. -
It's good to have a bit of ranged defense as a ranged blaster, but I wouldn't go overboard. Going for 20% seems to be a good goal, as it sets you 2 purple insps away from the softcap and leaves you room for +Recharge, +Damage, and +HP.

Quote:I have an Elec brute with 45% S/L, and an Elec Tanker with 32.5% to positionals. The reason I went for 45% S/L on the brute is because S/L is a pretty significant threat, and unlike my tanker, the brute can't reach 90% S/L res with a single orange insp or the upcoming ATO proc.On a scrapper, consider just taking shadow meld and getting enough defense that you are over the cap while it is up. I have a scrapper build (you can find it on the bottom of the page linked in my signature) with a 25 second recharge time on SM, allowing you to use it at the start of most battles. I wouldn't actually use that build, as it was more a proof of concept than anything else, but consider doing something similar.
Personally, I like building for positionals, but I am weird like that. In general, S/L defense at 45% will be easier to achieve that getting positionals to 45%, and make you more survivable than getting positionals to 32.5% (one luck away). -
A good thing about Elec is that once you cap S/L defense you can ignore most everything else, since N/F/C are pretty scarce damage types relatively to S/L/E.

Quote:Your arcanatime calculations are off, as 1.03s cast time is 1.188s in arcanatime, not 1.168s.I believe Burnout only effects primary and secondary powers, not PP/PPP/APP. So it would not work with Water Spout. The 1.168s is in arcanatime for unhidden AS, 1.03s cast time. I am thinking about just using AB-PS-SS-AS-repeat attack chain.
Slotting PS with the stalker ATO, giving SS more chances to critical. Using PS instead of NS because they have about the same DPS, does not need as much recharge to run the chain and PS has a better chance to build AF. Activate BU after SS will still start the Sweep combo.
As for going PS instead of AB in the chain, i don't like it. Not only are you losing a purple and a -res proc in the chain, you're using an attack that does less damage while having a much longer animation. You'll have to make up for it by getting a lot of damage bonuses instead of recharge. -
Quote:1) I hate 1k cuts, it takes waaay too long to animate and doesn't cover a lot of area. It's kind of like Shadow Maul in that sense. Plus, the stalker version of DB doesn't need it for Sweep.Similar to my DB/EA build Auroxis, but I was curious about a few things:
1) Why no 1000 cuts? Don't you lose out on alot of AOE, especially with build up from hide?
2) Why burnout? Does that work with incarnate powers or is it for a double emergency energize, or does Override replace itself if cast again before duration runs out, allowing for 6 minute Override?
3) Wouldn't Spiritual radial be better than the extra damage from musculature, getting AB recharge as close as possible to 1.168?
Just curious why you did these things as I want to perfect my build and I am not very experienced with Incarnate level of play.
2) Burnout is for double duration Overload and double Water Spout. Energize's buff doesn't stack with itself, but i guess you could use it twice in a row for its heal component.
3) Musculutare is always better for damage in my experience, especially when the difference is like a 5.3 seconds attack chain and a 5.23 seconds attack chain. Keep in mind that in arcanatime, 1.168 seconds is 1.32 seconds. -
DB/EA should be neat if you aimed for what ricohdah's suggesting, as it has recharge and end management. Here's a build i mocked up, to be used with Ageless:

I love inviting people who have original character names, properly worded(No dots at the start, no zero's instead of O's, etc).
If they manage to do that, they will likely be a good teammate in my experience. -
-
The reason SS is inferior to FM on a tanker for farming is because tankers get extra AoE from FM in Combustion, and the low damage cap of a tanker can be reached without Rage in farms(assuming you know how to manage your red inspirations).
If you build a FA/FM/Pyre for lots of recharge(which you should on a farmer), you'll have a non-stop FireBall->FSC->Burn->Combustion chain going. -
Quote:Combat isn't the OP, I am. And I called it a nerf because, well, it's been in the game for about 5 years?I was going to stay out of this one but ah what the heck its early and I am bored.
