I cannot respect any online game that asks you to pay to play it then asks you to pay to pay so it can play itself. The Architect exploits prove that plenty will pay for that, and I believe they also proved that that's not a good thing.

If you have to sell something, sell either services like server transfers and renames, or otherwise "cool to have" stuff that don't make people any more powerful any quicker.
Is the incarnate content not considered paying to get an edge over other players? Are the purchasable travel powers not giving you an edge over others? Are you ok with being able to buy things like team recall, which give a great benefit to your character in a team?

Yes, double xp gives you an edge over other players. But it's a very small, insignificant edge compared to the other things people will be spending their money on. If they start selling things that could be sold on the market, I would be protesting right alongside you. But this is a pretty small buff which will only serve to make regular content more popular.

Yet powerleveling still exists. It always will exist, and to be honest it's not that effective anymore with bridge fixing and the fact that no exploits are currently live.

While exploits have been nerfed, leveling in general has been buffed again and again through things like XP smoothing, uber team carriers with IO's and incarnate powers, exemplar XP, and patrol XP. In fact, leveling has been made so easy during normal play that the double XP from PP's seems like a waste of PP's to me.

I don't see how comparing it to a crime is fair, seeing as devs never stated power leveling is a bannable offense. Making AE maps that abuse an exploit is bannable, but power leveling?

It harms no one since leveling is a piece of cake anyway, and the real challenge is building your character beyond that.

    I am Alive!

Inv/KM/Soul with Paralytic and Rebirth should be pretty survivable.

I've so far only ever seen one F2P game I've wanted to stay with, and I've played a LOT of them. If this game is to become another one, it should avoid "selling out" like that.
Do levels really matter that much anymore? With IO's and Incarnate content, your character has a long way to go at 50. And with the current sidekick system, you don't need to be a high level character in order to play with your high level friends in most content.

I've heard of people disabling XP so they could avoid out-leveling content. How many MMO's have people doing that?

Also, when people are getting powerleveled to 50 in just a few days, I don't see how selling double XP would change anything. If anything it would make regular content more popular as I'm assuming the double XP won't work in AE.

Neutrino has 2 damage procs(one of them is purple), the achilles' -res proc and 66% damage slotting. Cosmic Burst has 1 damage proc and 102% damage slotting.

On my own I can do like 150 DPS tops, but my buffs and debuffs multiply the lore pets in a way no scrapper or blaster could, especially considering lore pets are affected by recharge buffs.

Take a look at the video in my sig and say that again.

  10. After some more calculations it looks like you can get it in about a week with 9 trials per day. And if you really really want to get it you can get it all as soon as 2 days if you have several characters grinding out the trials throughout the day, which seems like something you could fit in a weekend.
  11. Since these are global unlocks you can split the work through multiple characters.

So you can have 3 incarnates, each doing 3 trials per day, and that will get you all of the items in less than 13 days.
  12. Seems perfectly fine to me.

  13. If you don't want to be dependent on having multiple targets around you for DPS, Fiery Melee is better. But if you truly don't want to be dependent on multiple targets, you might as well not go SD either. This opens up the options of Dual Blades and Fiery Aura for maximum independent DPS.

Dual Blades is expensive to cap out, as its top chain requires a ton of recharge and it shines on expensive IO's.

Fiery Aura is very squishy if you don't spend slots on defense and spend them on damage bonuses and recharge bonuses instead. And if you don't spend slots on defense you'll be using Healing Flames constantly, which will cut into your DPS. So using two slot hungry powersets together can be difficult.

I went for Dual Blades/SR, as that gave me a lot of freedom with the slots. Top chain with Musculature and lots of damage bonuses from sets=awesome.
  14. I hope this doesn't turn into a "Stuff you want" thread, which could end up giving devs the wrong impressions on what the players are willing to spend their PP's on.

Certain things should be made free to VIP's, like power customization to epic/patron and regular pools, new zones, and new archetypes.

Some things I can see myself using paragon points on are the good vet powers (Assemble the Team, Mission Teleporter), certain Booster pack powers and costumes, and maybe new powersets(which might be free to VIP's anyways).
  15. I don't think the problem is that global unlocks cannot happen from within the game client. And if it is, CoH:Freedom will change it.

Remember, you can unlock powersets from within the game in CoH:Freedom, and you can't use certificates on characters that don't exist.
  16. No for two reasons:

    1. We need less types of currency, not more.

    2. AE will see less use in Freedom, anyway.

Yep, and the mentor project essentially gets a slap in the face if Free players can't join it.

Free players not getting access to global channels should be made optional, and they should also be allowed into SG's with limitations(can't be promoted, contributes half as much prestige).
  18. It's very silly, but it won't affect that many people fortunately.

I agree 100% its up to US to make new people feel welcome and want to stay.. whether they are playing for free or premium or VIP.. whats most important is that they stay and play and tell others how much FUN they have.. which will only further the game down the road.

We cant act like the elitists and like the game is OURS.. I am not moving.. Im not joining he VIP Server. If anything I am getting a new faster PC and a bigger monitor LOL..
If you couldn't get into SG's at the time, would you have stayed?

I got into the game through an SG as well, and I think it's terrible that new players can't get into SG's.
  20. I'd love to teach new players, interact with them, invite them to teams, welcome them into the community, etc.

But my ability to do all of the above is severely hindered by the current and future chat restrictions of free players.

It was commented that "This player is not receiving tells from free customers" is too off-putting and could end up being worse than no tell access at all. Though I'm not sure if I agree with that, it's a valid concern.

And only being able to reply to a tell is not that good for people who want to respond to LFG broadcasts or global chats(should they get access to those).

I never said I wanted to give free players unlimited access. I suggested giving them limited access to SG's, limited access to global channels, and limited access to tells. Instead of absolutely no access which you seem to prefer.

Consider current scenario: people standing in Peregrine, or wherever, broadcasting a team announcement. Why do this currently? Because anyone who hears it can respond in some way. Now where we're headed: a significant portion of people who might have responded can't. Solution? Do your broadcasting where people can actually reply. Which is the Help channel.

It's possible there is another solution in the works, but making communication more difficult just makes communication more difficult. It does me no service at all to limit another player's ability to contact me if that is not what I actually wanted in the first place. Ditto the fact that all these extra people running around theoretically mean more peoplle to group with but I have no way of organizing it with notifying God and the Help channel.
    Indeed.

I made some suggestions in an earlier post, over here. I'd be glad to get your input on them, particularly the Tell suggestion as that one hasn't been brought up before.
  23. Sorry, I fail to see the logic in making someone pay to be able to talk to people. To experience new content, yes they should definitely pay. To talk to their friends and potential friends in-game? Nope, they should be able to do that regardless.
  24. I would personally go Barrier on a WP, but the general rule of thumb is that Radial>>>>>Core on Rebirth. With a WP it might be Radial>>>Core, but you get the point of what I'm saying.

Radial's regen buff is huge compared to Core's HP buff, especially in terms of HP per second.
