Quote:dumb post of the year. The jerk rides again! Why can I not adjust the color of my Bane Soldier's surveillance in Issue 24 Beta? I complain a lot and this is one of those times. Will the Bane Soldier's surveillance ever be able to be green? There are tons of stuff broken other than this that I wish you would give half a crap to fix, and this is one minor thing that would be nice if it were adjustable, but DEVS PLEASE FIX THE GAME BEFORE GOING ON ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS

Quote:Pass. I prefer the way they do them now.I guess my expectations got in the way. Something about the original announcement made me think it would be something other than just an invasion. Also how disappointing theres no badge.
What to do to make them better? Based on what Zwill said I dont know that they can. I appreciate that they are trying to do something but at this point Id prefer a moratorium on invasions or at least keep it down to just the holidays and the ones that can be triggered in game. I guess it doesnt matter I can skip em if I want.
Wait . Objectives. Thats what most of them are missing. Objectives. To end the Nemesis invasions you find the mole machines and destroy them to stop the soldier spawn and then you take down Nemmie. So for this one there are some number of Arachnos flyers in the air and on the ground. Take em out and fight Mako. There timed events so you only have so long to do it to get the goodies (badge, XP, INF, what ever) Yes. Im suggesting no xp or inf unless you win. Now there are stakes. Now theres real motivation to win. -
Quote:Pretty much this.I was not referring to using them all the time... more like "using them *when* you need to use them".
My controller finds it very hard to deal with AV's solo. Popping inspirations when i meet them makes it *doable*. Hell, even a wrongly fired "firecages" can sometimes aggro a mob I wasnt aiming at (this most commonly happens when 2 or 3 groups are located in close proximity). Inspirations helps me through those situations.
However, most people are inclined to complain about the game being unfair to them in that situation, where the useage of Inspirations can help them out (or in this case "learn to use your head" comes into play again).
If you have to rely on a *constant* stream of them (even on -1x1 difficulty) then i will honestly ask "what are you doing wrong".
The 2nd part you say of "Inspirations aren't part of my character and thus are cheating if I use them" is (in my mind) in the realm of "concept" or a self imposed challenge.
Yes, you might be playing to a concept... however you *have* to realise that the playing to a concept can make the game harder to you. Sometimes you will have to use the tools that the game has available to you to make it through. This isn't the game being hard to you... it is being the same to everyone else. It is that you are *choosing* to make the game harder for yourself. Ergo, don't complain. -

Quote:Ehhh, I don't think that's accurate at all. Did you fail in building your blaster back when soft capping wasn't available and you had to use break frees? If you need to use inspirations then your character has failed at some aspect of the game.
-or-
Inspirations aren't part of my character and thus are cheating if I use them.
Two simple reasons why people don't pop inspirations all the time. Personally, if I have a character that is dependent on a constant stream of inspirations that means I have failed horribly with their powers and slotting.
Raiders may be good short term money but I still don't see how they do a game any long term good. I fled to CoH to get away from raid games and then the wondrous (thread) Incarnate system shows up. Yay. -

I'd say the same about:

Quote:Assuming players in general think all the other secondaries suck in their current form.Blaster's Martial Arts is way too powerful.
The standard has already been set that blaster secondaries must suck. Horribly. And have little to no synergy with primaries. With the obvious red headed step child, /energy, whom actually has utilities. They must be abilities that don't really work with the fast, all or nothing burst damage theme because they're thrown together, unmodified, versions of other sets. There's no "Hang in the air for a three second animation next to a boss that can 1 shot me" like Total Focus or the aggro EVERYTHING for some small DoT like Hot Feet.
Yes. I love Martial Arts. Martial Arts is amazing. It's what all other secondaries should be. And that's the problem. If it doesn't suck, it's going over shadow the other secondaries.
That's a rather large assumption to make. -
I assume you mean a Vader-like far away Choke hold.

Quote:Dwarf mode mez protection is dodgy? News to me since in that mode my khelds never get mezzed.Their mez protection is decidedly dodgy, so they don't get everything that would go with a defense set. And with no damage or taunt aura, and 85% res cap, they don't match a tank or maxed-out brute for survivability or agro management either. Defense sets contain more than just defense powers.
But the question at hand is would you prefer a ranged tank or ranged DPS-with-armor AT, irrespective of balance.
"Similar to a keldian" would correspond to option 3.
My khelds when in their defensive modes have no issue matching a tank or maxed-out brute for survivability.
Aggro management no, as it's not their job. -
Quote:Oh I didn't mean I24 would bring the trial.Cole's defeat was the climax. Now we're left with the falling action and the implications of his fall. It's true that it isn't 'finished' in that Praetoria is pretty much a part of the setting from here on and it's likely that we'll see bits and pieces of it continue on into the setting's future for quite a while.
I would not expect Praetorian Hamidon to be a major threat for a while though. At least from what's in I24, it seems like we're going to see more Devouring Earth forces and deal with the Avatar (or multiple Avatars) in the new Incarnate Story arc, possibly the Brickstown/St. Martial arcs. But I don't think we're going to see a new Trial or Raid involving him.
What I mean is the arcs involving the DE and Avatar are setting up for a FUTURE issue with the Prae Hamidon.
I expect we'll be knee deep in fighting a new intergalactic threat when the first tentacle from that other dimension comes a calling. Perfect time to hear from him/it/she when we're busy fighting something that makes Cole's group look like kindergarteners, amiright?
EDIT: As an aside I get why folks say the climax felt rushed. My counter is I'm glad it was rushed. It was getting to the point of "enough already". -
With that said the Praetorian storyline is actually NOT technically over.
The quick defeat of Cole is NOT the end of that storyline.
It's ONLY the end of the tyranny and Praetor rule over there. However the survivors over there (and possibly soon Primal Earth) have one more thing to worry about.
Two words: Praetorian Hamidon. -
Quote:Two plus years even if we had been digging it is too long. Major other parts of the game lore were patently ignored at that time.Actually it did feel like I23 was a rush job to cap off the story and box Praetoria up so they could move on to Battalion. Pendragon, Shadowhunter, the whole excalibur thing felt pretty shoe horned in to accommodate the Magi trial because it came out of nowhere and there was very little lead up to it. And we've got the devs saying fan reception to Praetoria wasn't what they'd hoped so it was time to press on.
Basically if we'd actually been digging Praetoria it might have gone on longer. I'd imagine, honestly, if they had a longer time frame to work with that Night Ward would have been in I23 and maybe a different trial, while the Emperor's Sword and Magisterium would have moved to I24 and the new stuff we're getting now would be I25 or would've been added as some of the 'aftermath' of the Magisterium.
but yeah I can totally see why people think it was rushed. For a climax it feels very rushed and sudden. it may not be an -accurate- perception, but it is a prevailing perception among the playerbase (among others).
I'm glad they quickly capped it in I23. Honestly no matter what the "Cole Trial" looked like he was getting a quick beatdown.
He literally had no one else to back him up after we beat all his other allies into paste.
The prevailing perception is also that the entire thing was dragged on waaaaay too long in terms of number of trials and content.
I'm glad DA took a slight side attempt at focusing on something else for a bit. -
Quote:It was very one sided because the Praetors and Cole are terrible tacticians, and they were literally facing an entire ARMY of Incarnates. Not surprising it was one sided. Not rushed meaning the work was rushed ... I mean the story was rushed.. last week when they had rikti invasions we could of been having more prae invasions.. the story just came and went .. the war was very small comparing the forces.. at least they could have destroyed croatoa or some place... from my expierince from the war it seems like we were invading them mostly.. and it was very one sided
We'll have to agree to disagree that the work OR story was rushed.
If anything a majority of the people on the forums had been saying that the Praetorian story line had gone on waaaaaaay too long, while ignoring MAJOR other plot development. I concur.
The Rikti 2nd war was an annoying gnat compared to what was went through involving the Praetorian war. Especially if you play through the entire story from GR through the tfs and Incarnate Trials in sequential order.
Yeah I completely disagree.
EDIT: If on the other hand you want to say MAJOR parts of it had plot holes you could run a truck through or that parts of it were poorly written, that's another thing. -
Quote:Something that went on for a year+ and spawned MULTIPLE incarnate trials, tfs and missions was RUSHED?I'm happy about the new issue but I also aggree with yogi the whole prae war was rushed. Ever since back in i6 when I started coh and heard about the prae, they were my fav vill group. Some of my heroes/vills had prae story lines before rogue even existed.. so when it came out that got me really excited.. so much that I actually came back to the game after I was gone for 2 years after the 8qe fiasco.com the world the lore everything about prae was done well. I actually soloed both the loyalist and res so that to not miss anything and I Hate PVE! Prior to i23 the progression of fighting the prae was goin well. I athleast thought we wouldn't be fighting cole till i24. Then I'm in mag trial fighting 8 avs. Talk about rushed they didn't even have the decensy to give him his own trial smh. It felt like the rest of his cohorts were the left over B squad. And most of them in the orginal story line were the strongest.. plus to top it off we mow throw his legion of soldiers like they were paper. For a dangerouse war harden planet that been fighting a war for last 40 years plus more tech advanced, we mopped them up with ease.. now in my opinion those zones are worthless
They should have went deeper.. drag it out at least one more issue
W. . . T . . . F?!!!! -

Even before GR came out that whole thing was thrown out the window as far as I'm concerned. As I've said before time progression by player level stop being accurate years ago.

Quote:I would have no issue working with Maurauder on any of my heroes, and certainly not on my vigilantes. Emperor Cole or Mother Mayhem on the other hand . . .Is this somewhere blueside? Or will heroes now be expected to be totally okay with working with a mass murderer of women and children, and probably a lot worse?
If it seems I'm harping on this thing... well, hey, you were the ones that decided to go with "Yeah, he *****, pillaged, and murdered his way across the Midwest, burning down all other survivors he couldn't make use of."
It's just... if he's blueside, that's condoning it. It makes him a hero now. It makes it forgiven. And there's NOTHING we can do about it. Can't say "Yeah, go to hell, Marauder. *POW*" He's a permanent, unmoving, inescapable figure saying "I got away with it all."
So yeah, really, think about it. Don't put him heroside. Don't make heroes work with him. It's not a morally grey thing to force on us. It's a seriously messed up thing we're forced to accept, and seriously insults our characters. -
Quote:What do you mean? Most of Praetoria is in ruins. What's to hate? It's like a story hater's nightmare - there's even bonus Shining Stars and Praetorian Penny content to add to the horror
If you look closely at the pictures, you'll see that the 2 aren't identical, and they both look a bit smaller than the actual Avatar on the Underground Trial, so I think there could be multiple Avatars, or these slightly smaller ones are another troop type.

While doable, this mission IS terribly designed.
And since it can be flashbacked the entire ARC needs to state upfront that you might need a team.
If it weren't flashbackable I could see them get away with just putting that a message in when you get to the mission. But since it IS flashbackable more notice needs to be given.
