Because I am finding myself too emotional to read much....
I know I will want to look at these various threads at some point, but right now, it kind of hurts.
My son just got into this game, too. It was like a dream for him to be able to play a game with mommy, daddy, his cousins and friend all at the same time. He got teary-eyed when I told him it would be shut down. -
I've lost count of how many times I have crapped my pants in astonishment in the past 24 hours...
-
Well, I am in too much shock to say much. I can't think of anything witty or anything. Most o what I want to say has been said already anyway.
I met a number of great people here, some of them even travelling to meet in real life. I love the community and have enjoyed every moment walking the streets or flying the skies of Paragon.
I will miss everyone and hate seeing my characters (my babies!) go...
Now I have to explain to my son (who just started playing and is [i]soooooo[/] proud to be level 23) that he will no longer be able to team with mommy and daddy to fight bad guys. -
Quote:This has happened to me. A player that I assume was fairly new was watching me play some time back. I was just killing time street sweeping and he approached me, saying I was so good and asking if I could teach him. I told him that, despite playing from launch, I know less about the game than many other players and that there were plenty of players who make me look like an amateur, but he complimented me again, anyways.Related, I have sometimes been complimented for "playing well" and I am often baffled as to what specifically I was doing that caused such a comment. Is it that I have played my main for close to 5 years and no pretty much how every encounter will go at a glance without really thinking about it and play accordingly?
Good for the ego, but perplexing. -
Those were good times....

Quote:Not sure how many people you thing you're speaking for....Since I'm not here to impress you, this is no great loss, but if you couldn't glean the intent, I'll make it more obvious. You do not speak for everyone, You never have. You never will. Starting a protest march over something like this is shallow, no matter how many people end up toddling along behind you in it.
Wanting the devs to stick to established storylines/ characters/ whatever is not shallow. Expressing dislike of something is not being shallow or rigid. It is having standards. We all have a right to dislike something here and point it out. Beta exists (aside from the more obvious testing) for that reason. The devs have shown many times that they want to hear from us, even-- and perhaps especially-- our complaints.
If nobody ever expresses dislike for something, or does not try to hold the game to certain standards, we may end up getting any old crap "because no one cares anyway".
People taking the time to express displeasure are those who care about the game.
Those who care about the game are keeping it alive, TYVM. -
Words fail me as to how cute he is....

Ha ha! That's exactly what I thought when I read it.

Quote:AAAaarrrrgggghhh!I JUST FINISHED READING THE ARTICLE AND OH MY GOD THEY ANNOUNCED PSI MELEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
I must keep zee capslock!
I have very mixed feelings about this. I have hoped for and dreaded this set coming out. I have a character who at the moment uses a Vanguard (?) katana, which represents her focusing her mental energy into a physical blade. I wanted to have her be mental/ psionic melee and that was as close as I could come. Guess I will be remaking her now... (provided the set is good). -
Hi Dink. I sent you a message about this, but thought I would put it here, too, as this is the official thread.
For some time now (and especially since Water Blast came out), I have wanted proper bare feet for characters. I have a couple of characters who should thematically go barefoot, but the bare feet in the game right now look horrible. I have posted about this elsewhere and others have agreed with me.
I think the best recommendations came from Samuel_Tow, who pointed out that we have perfectly serviceable models in the game right now that could be used with new textures, including zombie feet, and the ExoProto boots and Stealth boots.
In another thread, someone had posted something like "Dink is currently responding to every request to make specific parts 'less ugly' with 'okay'", so I am hoping you can address this. -
Lol. Yeah, as I said, I sort of feel like I have a fetish, given how many times I have asked. Still, I am not the only one. Also, there are numerous characters in comics with bare feet. we should be able to have them, too.

Quote:My wife and I used to play CoH every night together, but she stopped some time back, owing to various other commitments. She recently started playing again and one of the first things she asked me was why they made the game so easy. She was lamenting the days where we had to use strategy to win battles. I'm not sure how long she will stick around now, because she doesn't feel challenged.Ok, so... lemme get this straight:
when the missus and I currently play my ill/kin controller and her fire/fire blaster, we can usually:
- have something from illusion grab the alpha strike.
- run into to the middle of a +4/x8 mob
- hit fulcrum shift
- hit fireball, fire sword circle.
- watch almost everyone die
- pick off stragglers
- repeat.
now we can add the nuke to that mix?
... is there any word on increasing the difficulty slider? -
Well, that doesn't make sense. The hands at least look like hands. You can see the fingers now. They are not individual fingers, but they are there. You can see it is a hand. The feet, however, look like a pair of boots painted flesh colour and then lines put on them to suggest the toes.

... unless this is ignored, in which case I will likely ask again.
With the release of the Water Blast power, I am sure there will be a number of characters appearing with swimsuits, or at least water-themed outfits. Something that would fit well with these costumes and which I (and others have asked for multiple times) is proper-looking bare feet. No more boots with toes, please. I have asked for better feet enough times that I feel like some sort of fetishist, but I have at least two characters (and with WB, a third on the way) that thematically should be barefoot.
I know that the work to fix them could potentially be more than what the devs consider worthwhile, but I know that I am not alone in wanting this. I have seen numerous other posts asking for the same thing.
C'mon devs... my barefoot characters are not mutants. Please don't give them mutant feet. -
So, is this really worth watching? My wife, son and I all loved the first series, watching it multiple times and lending out the DVDs to people. We were looking forward to Korra, but when the first two episodes came out, I fell asleep watching the first one. It started ok, but I really didn't like
the weird 1920- or 1930-ish setting at all. When I woke up, I asked my wife what she thought. She said the story seemed dull, the supporting characters were not interesting and Korra herself was borderline annoying. I didn't bother trying to watch again and my wife has no desire to watch either. My son has expressed a desire to watch it, so I may try again, but I just don't have any enthusiasm about it. -

Ok, a few thoughts based on the past several pages:
Cap's God line was perfect and even his use of "son..." was great, even if I did cringe slightly. THAT is Cap. Comments about how it could almost be religious persecution, etc, are merely being made after viewing them with todays cynical way-too-PC eyes. It was perfect. I also Coulson's comment about something old-fashioned being needed. I couldn't agree more. As much as I do enjoy the darker tales favoured by many today, I think it is WAY past time we see a good, heroic, decent character that can be looked up to. I am really hoping we will see this in Man of Steel as well. I want a character who can do the right thing simply because it is the right thing. we need some good role models again.
The "Q word" was great. I suspect I was the only one in my showing who knew it.
Loki was great and I loved seeing Hulk smash him, but it seemed ike everybody got to smack him down at least once. It happened perhaps too many times. Also, on the topic of Asgardian invulnerability, even in the comics, Hulk doing that to him should have left him with many broken bones. As I recall, Asgardians have dense flesh and bones, but not true invulnerability, which is why Thor uses Mjolnir to deflect attacks. I remember Thor breaking Loki's arm with a tap from Mjolnir on one occasion.
Phase 2... How would they go to Phase 2 with the Tesseract gone? What would power the weapons? I am not convinced that it really was just advanced weaponry.
In regards to Coulson, I am sure he is alive. When Maria Hill mentions the trading cards to Fury and how they had been in Coulson's locker, not his jacket, that pretty much clinched it for me. Fury would have had to go get them, cover them in blood and then lie about where he got them from. Fury's line of having to give them something to fight for reinforced this a bit more. Add to that the fact that Clark Gregg says Whedon specifically told him Coulson would not die in the film.
Edit: I am stunned to discover that Gregg is married to "Baby" from Dirty Dancing... O.o -
Whenever I see Spiderman trailers, or Captain America in the Avengers, I always imagine producers coming in, seeing the dailies and saying "hey looks good, but can you have him take off his mask more often?" I know they pay for the actors and thus want to see their faces, but it's starting to get stupid that they doff their masks at the drop of a hat.

Quote:No, I started playing the same day the game was released. I had every single book they made up until the NWoD. I got rid of most of them when I moved a few months ago, but kept the core rules. You must not have gotten on that train as early as I did. I remember when 1s cancelled out successes, which often meant that rolling more dice (read: being more skilled) just meant that you could fail harder. I tend to dislike dice pool systems as a general rule anyway, but that was one of the worst offenders.
I will admit, the Botch rules did kind of... suck. -
Quote:Huh.I can say with all honesty, other than Friday Night Fire Fight from Cyberpunk, White Wolf had the worst combat system ever imo.
I actually liked the White Wolf system. It was one of my favourites. It was logical to me and I liked how a character with sufficient skill could kill someone with, say, a knife. I never liked D+D's rules that allowed a high-level character to be stabbed 50 or 60 times and still be in perfect fighting condition until the last single hit point, which would finally kill them.
I have been reading DC Adventures, which is based on M+M and I kind of like it, but the lack of Hit Points seems a bit odd to me. The States will take some getting used to. Also, while I can see a decent game in there, it is not very well-presented and I find myself flipping back and forth through the book trying to piece everything together. -
So they can manage to get the Lizard his lab coat, but can't get Spidey's costume right?
Pssshhh. -
I had heard about this and was debating getting it. I picked up the DC Universe one, which is... ok. I am not sure how I like it. Some parts are cool, others, I am iffy about. I still have my old Marvel RPG and was looking at it only a few days ago. I want to start gaming with my son and am debating what system to use.
