Kheldians can be complex. Generally they have elements from all of the other archetypes and can be very diverse in builds since they get more power options. That also makes it tough to create a really effective build until you know exactly what you want and like. Especially if you feel you're still learning the ropes and mechanics with a Tanker, you would probably be better holding off on the epic ATs for a bit longer.

Personally I started off with a scrapper as my first character, and he's still my main four years later. As others have said, they are very survivable, good damage. Scrappers and Tanks are very similar, except scrappers are focused on damage, and tanks are focused on staying alive and keeping agro. Different ATs and powerset really start getting strong at different levels, but generally arount the 30s most characters are there or just starting to (mainly because a lot more enhancement slots open up then).

Also don't be affraid to try out new characters. You get 12 slots on all of the servers. Feel free to play around with different ATs and Powersets. You may find out you love the controller play style. As you've seen it doesn't take long to get to level 20-ish and you should have an idea of if you'll like the power set by that point or not.

OH and welcome to the game.

Also, if you're referring to the existing methods, those are intentionally made to be punishing because - and this is from official comments - they are not the main way to gain Incarnate status.
The tokens are e-merits, which aren't random at all unless you want to consider it a 'random' team you could choose to be on that determines your success. They are distributed once per trial on a 20 hours timer.

    30 e-merits for a very rare
    8 e-merits for a rare

Run the trials successfully, you'll get your e-merits. It may not be as fast as you like, but you are making progress. Running 2 trials per day to get those e-merits. It'll take you roughly (less actually) 92 days to get all of the e-merits to craft the rare and very rare components to get every T4 above alpha. During those successful runs, you'll also get astral merits, each worth 4 threads. You'll get around 2500-3000 threads just from those. More if you get the badges. Then i'd say about 3-5 threads drop per run anyways by themselves. Assuming you only get threads, commons, and uncommons as drops from the reward table you should have MORE than enough components to craft your powers. Getting the badges on each one reward a random uncommon the firsttime. Getting the master-of badges give you a random rare. More astral merits for each additional time. Its also possible you MIGHT get a rare or very rare drop which will drastically shorten this time to do this in.

Everyone should with minimal, what I would say casual, playing (1-2 hours a day to run 2 trials) CAN get a T4 in about 3 months without rares and very rares dropping at the end of trials. Is it instant? No. Its not meant to be. Some people get lucky and get better drops. Yes. But not everyone. Kinda sucks, but its not impossible or extremely difficult to get without being lucky with the drops.

You don't like the trials, well there is a, granted, much slower way of getting up there, also depending on the RNG a good bit by up converting shards. But if you're not running trials, you really don't NEED to have T4s to be successful and have fun and be overpowered in this game.

    The "standard run" = 4 merits does include the 30 reinforcements merit. (10 grenades + 10 acids + 30 reinforcements + Marauder)
Does getting the sync badge (destroying an acid container and a grenade crate within 2 seconds) still award a merit?

You can craft a notice with enough shards and alpha-level components and inf. If you get enough of those you can get them faster. Its only a 7 day hard limit to get them via weekly strike forces.

      • 1 Merit will be awarded when defeating 30 of Marauder's reinforcements (the enemies from the doors) in the final stage.
      • 1 Merit will be awarded when defeating Marauder.
      • 2 Merits will be awarded if the league completes Antacid. This is to compensate for the 10 Grenades merit this badge precludes.
      • 2 Merits will be awarded if the league completes Well-Stocked. This is to compensate for the 10 Acids merit this badge precludes.
      • 1 Merit will be awarded if the league completes Lambda Looter. This is because the league would also have acquired the 10 Acid and 10 Grenade merits.
      • Merits will no longer be awarded for gathering all 20 powers.
        • This merit is moved to the kills in the final stage to have fewer merits dependent on power gathering.
    • The overall results are:
      • A standard run which gets all 10 of both powers and ignores badges will receive at least 4 Merits.
      • Any power-related badge run (Antacid, Well-Stocked or Lambda Looter) run has the potential to acquire at least 5 Merits.
      • In order to make sure that all raid sizes can achieve the new bonus merit in a reasonable amount of time, we have activated one of the two permanent doors which was previously not active for smaller leagues. This will increase the rate at which reinforcements spawn by 1 every minute for league sizes less than 10.
      • Please note that ONLY the reinforcements which follow Marauder will give credit for the counter. The pets of those reinforcements, the turrets, IDF remaining from a previous stage and the IDF guarding the containers during the final stage will not count for the merit.
    • Removed Marauder's base 30% S/L resistance and reduced the duration of his Unstoppable power.
    • A door blocking access to one of the lab interiors in Lambda Sector has been replaced with an openable door.
Do you not get 1 merit for acquiring all 10 acids in a standard run? It only mentions grenades.
Are the 2 merits for completing the Antacid and Well Stocked badges occur in addition to the 1 merit from defeating Marauder?
Do the merit counts for the standard run assume you also kill 30 of the adds that come in?

This. Emp Merits are your friend. Coming this Friday (May 20th) it will have been possible to have earned 90 e-merits (more actually, but rounding up to 1 per trial per 24 hours for simplicity and practicality) by only running 2 trials (one BAF, and one Lamda) a day every day...meaning you could almost be able to craft 3 very rares from those alone from really very little work (I don't consider running 2 trials a day THAT hard most of the time...1-2 hours really). Practically you may have missed a day and/or there were some extended maintenances in that time frame, but within a week or two you'll have enough if you run as much as you say you do. After 115 runs surely you have enough e-merits to at least craft one very rare, or are at least getting very close.

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. With getting components, according to how the devs state it works, you're participating enough to possibly get a very rare. I'm sorry you've been unlucky with the RNG. Be patient. Relax. Maybe you'll get a lucky drop soon. If not, focus on earning the e-merits, which is something you can control instead of relying only on the RNG.
  9. The answer and reasoning for it would still match Stone's no matter the purpose. The damage resistance proc really isn't that strong. Helpful, but not great. Remember its a 25% chance that a -resistance gets applied, not -25% resistance. The actual strength of the -res is fairly small (-2.5% per proc), and it may only get you a couple extra HP coming out per attack for a short amount of time, where the DoT, while also not huge numbers, will get you a few ticks of several HP out per attack that sticks the proc.

I've not seen this, and most people I've seen are easily able to be moved back. While we do have some smart players, as often as I've seen DCs coming back onto solo teams, I would think that I would have heard of the bug more. Makes me wonder if the person on the solo team was mistakenly looking at the team window instead of the league window. They aren't the same window and the team window might not have that lock button.

Probably this, except for the omega slot. If they did, it could pretty much be assumed that the omega powers will be ridiculously expensive using those components since by the time we get to the omega slot we could potentially have more than enough to craft all of the T4s of omega using current prices.
  12. Not sure how good of an answer this is, but I've noticed when you turn down your graphics settings, the barrier graphics go from the static-flashy-flickery bubble to a much more steady almost striped bubble. That may help some people with issues with the graphics.

    Dear Devs

Remember...lag is used incorrectly as an ambiguous term used by many to describe many things caused by many things, some they can do something about some you can do something about, and some that is completely out of their control.

When you do stuff in game, that server has to process a LOT of stuff, and it can only do so much about it. Too much going on and it just can't keep up. This is when you get delays in powers firing, rubber banding etc.

This is what we were seeing in the trials and league events (invasions, hamis, etc) the last week or so. They said they put something into the league code that caused a lot more processing that caused all the lag and took that out. Last night, it seemed a TON better for most of the BAF. Still experienced a little during the prisoner escape and the dual AV fight, but it was much better than even before that last patch from a week or two ago.

Also a factor is when you have a lot of players in one area firing off LOTS of flashy powers that YOUR computer has to process the graphics to. This usually results in low frame rate and is sometimes called lag, but its something else. This is YOUR computer trying to keep up with the graphics info. There really isn't much the devs can do except lower the graphical abilities of the client and make the game look worse, and you can counter it by turning down your graphics. Makes the game look worse, but its more playable. I've done this since the leagues started and I was much happier.

You can tell the difference between these two usually because if its server-side lag, things on your client look smooth and crisp with high framerates but powers don't fire, say they're recharged when they aren't.

Also outside factors like poor internet connections (which can vary during peak times) can also play into it, which there isn't much anyone can do about it right then.

The patch yesturday seemed to correct a lot of the server side lag that at least I was experiencing. Still had some at some places. But with these new, commonly run, events like the trials, when we have 3 times more players going full blast on their powers, short of them giving all of the servers a big hardware upgrade, some lag is going to happen on occasion. If its just low frame-rates you're experiencing, turn down your graphics some and see if that makes a difference.

I prefer the lamda to the BAF. Its quick and actually not hard at all if you cooperate. MUCH less lag than the BAF. I've never understood why anyone had any trouble with it at all.

The biggest key to the sabotage phase is to stick with your team leader. Stealth if you got it. Ignore the other mobs. Hit the components and move on. You do that, you should be fine!

Unfortunately that's usually what happens when the new stuff comes out. Especially this stuff that actually gives people a reason to dust off their old level 50 characters and gain more stuff on them. Also, as someone else said, they are some of the oldest TFs in the game, long, very tedious and not much fun (for some people) compared to the newer content.

Have you been trying to find one forming to hop on, or form one yourself? I'll bet there are others that want to run them, the trick is finding them, and you'll probably have better luck trying to form one yourself rather than waiting hoping someone else does. I know I have run all of the 6 signature TFs since the weekly strike targets came out because I finally decided to go for my TF Commander accolade and didn't have any of the badges (except maybe Numina).

do a kill all ITF shard run is your best bet. Pity nobody is running them unless it's the weekly.
I believe the OP is referring the thread-based incarnate components, not recipes

Either way though, they are both dropped as a result with a RNG being a factor. The RNG, for effective purposes, is random. One person could get one every time they run (granted they are EXTREMELY lucky with that case)...another person could NEVER get one. We don't know what the weights and frequencies are, and there appears to be a participation factor weighing on the drops for components which makes it even harder to figure out.

Best approach for people will be to play how you want to play. Build up your e-merits. Plan to use them to build your t4s. If you get lucky...great...but don't count on luck.

Makes sense. The trial is supposed to scale, so fewer players, fewer prisoners to figure out the pathing for (which is what i think the current theory is as far as what causes so much lag during that phase)
  18. It was worst when the 2 AVs are together. Separated, was definitely more than pre-patch but not as bad when they were together. Everytime the prisoner escape was worse than pre-patch, and it was pretty bad before. Raids in general give me some lag, but NOTHING like I experienced tonight.
  19. Either something seriously wrong with the code changed in the patch, or the servers seriously need more power.

WE NEED MORE COWBELL!! (as my boss would say)

This way teams without a metric ton of debuffs or psi damage won't get stonewalled on him when going for the badge. It would still be difficult but not to the degree it is now and wouldn't require leagues to stack the teams in their favor. Using the grenades would still be the preferred method since it drops his resistance well below that anyway.

    2) Change the badges so that they can all be gained in one run if the team is experienced enough.
    • Antacid: Collect all 10 Molecular Acid grenades before collecting any Pacification Grenades OR collect all 10 Molecular Acid Grenades after collecting all 10 Pacification Grenades
    • Well-Sticked: Collect all 10 Pacification Grenades before collecting any Molecular Acid Grenades OR collect all 10 Pacification Grenades after collecting all 10 Molecular Acid Grenades
    • Lambda Looter: Defeat Marauder without using any Molecular Acid or Pacification Grenades
The problem with this is that antacid and well-stocked are the same thing if they collect them all. You can't collect all of A before any of B collecting all of B after all of A.

Think it should just be changed to collecting all of one type within 5 mins gets the badge. Same difficulty (if not more if going for both badges) and can be done in one run.
  21. Virtue was unbearable a for the 3 I ran, hoping it was just a heavier than normal load. 5-10 seconds at least for power activations. Powers saying they are recharged when they aren't, being rooted for 5-10 or MORE seconds. Was bad during the AV solo rounds, got worse during the prisoner escape, then the dual AV fight was the worst!
  22. Is anyone else experiencing TREMENDOUS lag in the BAF trial after today's patch? Before the patch, especially during the prisoner escape phase it was rough. Today ran 3 on virtue and EVERY TIME there was an unbearable amount of lag during the whole thing! NS and Seige's solo rounds were 2-3 seconds between power activations and a few seconds to respond to trying to move. The prisoner phase was almost double that. And when both AVs were up, 5-10 seconds for an activation and you might get a chance to move your toon sometimes. I've never see it that bad on this game before and I LOVE doing invasions and have run a few mothership raids. Haven't tried a Lamda yet or heard anything about it, but until its fixed I'm staying away from BAFs I think.
  23. AquaJAWS

    50 + 3?

T3 and above of the Alpha slot powers will only get you to one level shift. T4 doesn't add another shift up. Its still only 50+1. T3 and T4 don't stack up like that.

Unlocking the Lore and Destiny slots also have "Incarnate Shifts". These shifts are only effective during the incarnate content (which is only the Lamda Trial and the BAF Trial currently, but more is on the way). Each slot, Lore and Destiny, apply these from the T3 powers.

If someone says they are 50+3, that means they have at least a T3 Alpha power sloted and are effectively 51 for most content that they aren't exemplared down for, and they have at least a T3 of both the Destiny and Lore slots making them effectively level 53 in the incarnate trials, but 51 for everything else in the game.

As a suggestion, any way we can get the side-grade options for the common rarity alpha/shard-based components as well in a similar fashion with a 1-2 shard cost instead of thread? Could be useful for times when you have extra of the ITF component but your recipe needs the STF component.

Downgrade, since you have to upgrade to get any of them to begin with I don't think is needed, except for MAYBE a notice of the well down to an uncommon, but not nearly as useful as it is for the thread-based components and don't see many people choosing that option since you run the WST specifically for a NotW.
