You'll be fine. If you turn all the bells and whistles all the way to eleven, you'll see lagging/tearing/oddities, but dial back a notch or two and you'll scream along.

Quote:Uhhhh, no it doesn't.Premium players will not have access to global chat (which apparently includes SG & coalie chat).
Free players access: Local, Team
Premium players access: Local, Team, Whispers (Tells), SG Chat, Coalition Chat
VIP players access: All game channels, and can create them (<-- the second part means Global Chat Channels)
It doesn't say that all players can access the Help channel, regardless of tier. (This was confirmed by, I think, Zwill or Bea in one of the announcement/clarification threads.) -
Quote:No, I couldn't access them either and I was a previous poster in the thread commenting on the images, so it wasn't an "old browser" issue. (Are there any browsers out there that don't support png anymore? Why would anyone be using a browser from, like, 1998? WAIT! Don't answer that! There are stupid/ignorant people everywhere!)Must have been temporary error of some sort, since I can access them with no problem right now.
They are PNG files, so maybe if you're using an older browser there may be a problem.
I think it's likely that the host was overloaded somehow (possibly the large influx of people wanting to goggle at Rx10's terrible builds!) because putting in the base domain (jumbofiles.com) would not resolve either. -

Don't think I've ever taken down Rommy so fast as that.

Judging by BitMeter, I am ranging between .5 kb/s and 5 kb/s download, 0 kb/s and 1 kb/s upload as I run around Talos, half again as much as I run around a busy Atlas Park on Virtue. Even if you run City all month long, 24 hours a day, unless your DSL provider is miserly, you'll never hit it.
NOTE: kb is kilobits, not kiloBYTES (which is KB)...it's a measurement of speed...to get measurement of "storage space" multiply it by ~about~ a tenth -
I think this is possibly the best Rx10 thread yet. A prime example of just how LITTLE he understands about the game, but insists that his view is obviously correct, repeatedly, until beaten about the head with reality.
Also: Holy frijoles, those builds are terrible. Why are you slotting one of everything? No wonder your controller doesn't live up to your expectations - slot what works, which may be multiples of one thing and none of another thing - not exactly what it says on the label! -
I would put this in the Mentor Project sticky at the top of the thread listing here in Questions instead of in Guides.

Though how did you--... have you been stalking my CIT page or something? D-:
EDIT:
Oh... duh. -
You can't actually skip the launcher anymore, AFAIK. However, if you shortcut to CohUpdater.exe (e.g. my shortcut is: "G:\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"), the launcher opens and immediately launches City with no delay (unless there is a patch). You can set the launcher to automatically close when launching a game within its options window.

Create a text file that says:
Code:and load it using /optionloadfile C:\path\to\filename.txtShowVillainName 1
Alternately, if you've already saved your options once, then go into your options save file, which will be either in your main directory or in the piggs or data subfolder, depending on when you saved them, and change the ShowVillainName option to 1. Then load your option file, either by /optionload (if you used /optionsave before) or /optionloadfile C:\path\to\filename.txt as before.
The game doesn't actually allow you to set it this way in the interface. I'm not sure if it USED TO allow it, which is why two of your older toons have it set. -
Quote:It's a test environment called TRAINING ROOM. It's not a test environment called TEST SERVER or BETA TESTING. Why would a rank newb automagically think something that's not called test server be a test server? You seem to be skipping over this repeatedly. You have no answer for it, so instead you spout off angry words all over again that do not answer this question.I'll answer both at the same time: Common ******* sense. It's a TEST ENVIRONMENT. A little common sense will tell you that some unstable and buggy patches ripe for possible exploitation are being tested there for the specific purpose of finding and hammering out those very problems. Who in their right mind would even begin to think you'd be able to transfer from there to the live servers? Hell, the ability to copy ( *COPY*, not transfer ) characters over from live without limits should be enough to make it obvious it's not going to be allowed the other direction. You'd have to be blind not to see how that would be a wide open door for rampant duping.

Quote:He is a brand new player. How the hell would he know that there's no way to transfer off training room? How the hell would he know that the training room isn't for newbies ("training" instead of "testing")? I really wish they'd stop calling it the training room; I know quite a few players now who have fallen prey to "training room means for newbies". Hell, there's been two in the last week or so.Perhaps if he wasn't quite so ****** about it and had used his brain before whining he wouldn't have gotten the snark.
He said customer support wasn't very helpful with a frowny face, that's not very ****** at all (and it may or may not be true - YOU are not the judge of something you haven't seen the logs/mails for). He hasn't posted again, so I'm not seeing where your statement was a viable response. Perhaps next time instead of being crabby with a newbie, you should just not post? -
Quote:When the Alpha Slot went live, you could ONLY get shards from level 50+ enemies. So obviously you did not see that.My understanding was that any enemy that was eligible for rewards had a chance to drop a shard; so as a 50 you could get a shard from a green con minion. Is that incorrect, or did it change? I could swear I saw a post to that effect when the Alpha slot went live.

Hehehe. That song clippet has been in the game since before Velvet Revolver formed.

You can get your alpha sorted out with iTrial components as well. There are more recipes that include the Trial components, just need to scroll down.

No. I'm sorry. I can't. I am not the RNG.
I'm sorry also that no one else in here can help you with that either. We're all players here, not an RNG to be found in this forum. -

I would like to keep it to one thread so they are beat in the face with the idiocy of this happening, so often, for so long. It has been over a year since the issue re-arose (happened a lot when we switched over, something they did fixed it, then it broke again). Not a single red response in that thread, which has been around for TEN MONTHS. -
If you don't have GR already, yes. If you already have GR through some other means, no.

It sounds like you're trying to apply an EU code to an NA account. The two types are not compatible, even though everyone uses the same updater and server list now.
You *might* get a nice GM if you send a request through the Ask a Question form, who *might* exchange your code for a proper one, but no promises. Most of the time it is "buyer beware". -
Quote:Most of CoV's music was made specifically for CoV...CoH's original songs are indeed stock files. I've recognized a few pieces in movies, television shows, commercials, etc.Other than the City of Heroes Going Rogue - Original Soundtrack, I didn't know the game used anyone else's original music. From what I've read, most, if not all, of the zone neighborhood music are just stock music clips.
Slither is not in any part of the game unless you've turned off music and are listening to your own stuff or the radio. -
Quote:QFE!!! (except add all the other archetypes as well!)Blaster: Assault Leader

I... I tend to die a lot.
My characters are all melee fighters. Even my defenders (thanks to Sands of Mu and epics, once they get that high), especially if they have melee-centric buffs!
Additionally, all of my characters are kill-kill-kill-kill scrapperlocked, no matter their archetype. Even if they have no defense. "THERE'S A DUDE THAT'S ALIVE, KILL IT!!!!" Although I don't actually die A LOT, just probably more often than most players do (chasing a runner and barreling around a corner into another group? CHECK!) I will admit to having taken to carrying wakies in email. *embarrassed grin*
If there's no tank or brute around, I have absolutely no problem leading the charge into a giant group of dudes, no matter what I'm playing (though I am slightly more careful about it on my squishies). And if the tank or brute is hesitating, I will wade in ahead of them to shame them into playing right! -
I would like to request you stop using giant blocks of ridiculously tiny text because while I am marginally interested in what you have to say, I cannot, in actuality, READ WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY. :/

Hello! Do you people even read the replies in Announcements? I mean, really. This is two patches in a row where people have questions about the validity of the patch notes, and there isn't a single redname response.

This build number matches the number for June 30, which never actually patched. I never got an answer in the June 30 thread that that was intended (server-side patch, in which case the build number was wrong) or not (the patch was never actually served).
This patch actually does install, and updates the installation build to the number listed. Alternately: Does that mean that this patch includes both June 30th's patch and today's patch?
