Bandwidth Usage

Does anyone know approximately how much bandwidth is used up playing the game? Should I be concerned with hitting the DSL data cap?

Depends how low your cap is. Assume worse case of a continuous 10KB/s gives you 35MB/hour or around 25GB per month of continuous use, excluding patches. A lot of the time it's bellow 5KB/s between battles, poking around at the market, traveling to and from missions.

Judging by BitMeter, I am ranging between .5 kb/s and 5 kb/s download, 0 kb/s and 1 kb/s upload as I run around Talos, half again as much as I run around a busy Atlas Park on Virtue. Even if you run City all month long, 24 hours a day, unless your DSL provider is miserly, you'll never hit it.

NOTE: kb is kilobits, not kiloBYTES (which is KB)...it's a measurement of speed...to get measurement of "storage space" multiply it by ~about~ a tenth

I use NetMeter and I'm normally at 2-3 KibiBytes (damn IEC units) per second standing around in a zone, which matches the value you see when you do a /netgraph 1. I'm using the 10KB/s continuous figure as an extreme case.

Cool, about to move to a new place and the internet bandwidth issue came up last night with the new roommate, so I wanted to check. Was about what I thought.

At this point I might play 3-4 times a week for a couple hours on a heavy week, maybe a longer several hour session once a weekend a month, so I shouldn't have to be too concerned about the game being the major cause of an overage compared VPN/RDC into work and streaming Netflix/Hulu/Pandora, which is small change in comparison.
