How to launch the game...

How do you launch the game without using the launcher?

I know it used to be done with a command line switch -project eucoh (I think) e.g: D:\Games\CoH2\cityofheroes.exe -project eucoh, but since then the updater has changed and the servers have been merged... etc.

Is it still possible?

Tried the above before posting this and I get an error saying that the client cannot connect to the login server.

Reason I want to do this is to run a 2nd client with different settings to my main client... still need to work out how to merge a registry file in/out so that I can have 2 'separate' installs. :/
(Really hate game clients that keep most or their settings in the registry.)

Tried projects named:
coh
nacoh

Both allow me to login - take me to a server list with one server that I can't then connect to. eucoh doesn't get that far.

-project coh

drop the eu.

Tried that as above takes me to a server list containing a single entry called Unnamed. Which errors out with Can't connect to DBserver.

Interestingly it also doesn't load it's settings from the current install. :/

You can't actually skip the launcher anymore, AFAIK. However, if you shortcut to CohUpdater.exe (e.g. my shortcut is: "G:\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"), the launcher opens and immediately launches City with no delay (unless there is a patch). You can set the launcher to automatically close when launching a game within its options window.

Within the launcher, you can also right-click a game to make a shortcut directly to that game. Using the shortcut will open the launcher, patch if needed, and then launch the game. (And if you have the launcher set to close after starting the game, it'll then close.)

If you want to get this by modifying your shortcut properties, you just need to use the /LaunchGame switch, with the correct value:

/LaunchGame=CityOfHeroes
/LaunchGame=CohTest
/LaunchGame=CohBeta

Use it just like you'd use -project coh, except with the NCSoft Launcher executable, instead of the CoH executable:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NCSoft\Launcher\NCLauncher.exe" /LaunchGame=CityOfHeroes

I wanted to write a batch command (.bat) that would launch the game from a specific directory and merge in various registry entries. Gave up on that idea.

It certainly did work with -project coh -launcher, though that was prior to i20.5 and I haven't tried it since, at one point you had to specify the authserver as well.

You can find the correct command line parameters in the addcache.xml file in the game's folder. At least that's where it is on mine.

Might as well post them here.
-project CoH -launcher -auth 64.25.36.4
