  1. I've been on one of those Fire/Rad controller superteams. They are great fun, but I'm not certain they are the answer. Two reasons: ST damage is very anemic-especially while leveling; and they are vulnerable to catastrophic failure- this requires more skill on player part.

Their survivability went way up when one bubbler was subbed in. All those layered controls are superfluous, a case of subraction by addition. Fire corruptors add more damage.

When I thought about it more, the Ice/Sonic corr could be just as easily replaced by ?/sonic controllers, adding the same buffs/debuffs, while providing more control. Fire is the likely winner here.

    So:
    2 Stone/Dark Brutes
    4 Fire/Rad Corruptors
    2 Fire/Sonic Controllers

Less likely to fail when zerging or when team gets spread out for a moment. The +190 global recharge is past the point of excessively diminished returns, making it more than adequate. Greatly improved single target damage while maintaing ultra high levels of AoE. Rediculous enough recovery so that End never runs out. -22.5% Dam Res on each brute needing no recast.

It seemed to me that 8 fire/Rad trollers was too much of a good thing, and not enough of other really neat stuff.
  2. Every now and then I wonder what the best possible team make-up is for general game play. So, in your opinion, what's the best 8 hero/villian team possible? To narrow the focus, here are some guidelines:

Team plays together from lvl 1-40
Runs all apropriate TF in their level ranges
Completes radio/paper missions as well as tips
    No AE content

Team should efficiently and quickly handle all these challenges at the highest difficulty to maximize leveling speed while moving through content.

    I like:
2 Brutes: Stone/Dark- big hitters, layered defense, early aggro auras, mag 4 AoE perma stun on each
6 corruptors: 4 Fire/Rads- great damage, heals, all Rads greatness vs AVs, and stacked AM means no recharge or end problems ever, even for hungry Stone/Darks; 2 Ice/Sonics- stacked shields should minimize incoming damage, sonic powers lower dam res, and Ice has two holds to provide a little more control

Only issue for this crew is only one real form of control- stuns. the holds in Ice are single target. But enemies should be melting so fast it shouldn't really be a problem.
  3. Since the animal pack got released my Huntsman is modeled after the Kzin. There's just something awesome about a 400 pound killing machine with a big, nasty gun.
  4. Just throught I'd throw a couple ides out there- for me soloing is about self-sustaining SMASH, being able to keep going fast, fast, fast.

That means healing yourself, recovering end quickly, and not being too squishy that you wind up dying in the next spawn because you took too much damage beating this one.

If you want to solo AVs, then you have to look at DPS too.

DM/Shield/Mu- ST damage, Heal, End Recovery, AoE damage, Capped Defense- absolute demon.

And the one that comes out of left field Stone/Dark/Energy. Mag 4 perma stun, awesome heal, damage aura, layered defense, AoE attacks, tons of KD, and slotted correctly recovering over 5 eps- late, late bloomer, but sooooo smashtastic.

  6. Thanks for pointing out the fourth LotG slot, forgot to swap out one of them- I already have 4 +9% from the Posi's and Adj Target. I slotted the E.C.s because I was already capped for the HP bonus in Devastation, and the +HP chance seemed best put in my quickest recharge attack.

So to tighten it up a bit:
Drop slot from assault, add to Stamina, and slot 3 P.S. there
Swap in 1 more LoTG D/E/R
Drop the EndRed from Cloaking Device, Add recharge to Call Reinforcements= 4 second downtime

    Anything else?
  7. Thanks for all the replies. I've been working on the build on and off, and came up with this:

Good recharge, only violated rule of 5 on a 10% regen, picked up some more melee def to help with higher cons/debuffs, surveilance, call reinforcements, and webnade. Thinking going cardiac as well.

    Thoughts?

What is this "OR" you speak of? All (ok, not all, all the ones I like) of my Corruptors have softcapped ranged, s/l, and energy, and close to neg as well.

Both are speed demons, but trollers have an edge in safety/survivability. I'd be interested in seeing two optimized builds going head to head.

Of course a SS/Fire brute can do it just about as well for much cheaper, with much higher survivability than both when it comes to farming things according to their own particular idiom.
  9. Right now? Just one thing:

For Jack Frost to get the powers AND AI of the summoned snowbeast for the winter event. It kicks the tail off of Jack.
  10. Here's my first stab at a Huntsman build. I wanted a Spetsnaz type character, and AR and DP just didn't cut it.

    A couple of issues/questions:
I have 6 slots left, not sure where to put them for max effect
    I don't slot purples.
Is build up or assault more effective over time? I kinda like the spike of BU, especially with the crit from bayonet.
Combat jumping and hasten are non-negotiable, gotta have em. Otherwise is there something that I can give up or change to make me more effective?
Would dropping Conserve Power and PP and picking up Surveilance and ? be better? Would that force me to go cardiac?
Is lack of any control going to be a big issue?

Here's a build with fairly solid defense and a good bit of recharge. Can get you to perma hasten with 2 SS. Not a good farming build, but very solid in TF, tips, and general play.
  12. Tweaked it a bit. Higher overall defense and recharge, same powers just swapped some slots. Lost 3 seconds on hasten recharge, but gained a couple in Shadow Meld.

This should kick some serious buttocks.
  13. I dunno, the biggest part of SS/SD is all the dam buffage you get from yourself, which isn't really all that necessary with a kin around.

The way I see it is a pocket kin provides the following:
Huge Dam boost ala Fulcrum Shift
Unlimmited Endurance from SB and Transference
    Recharge Boost from SB
A huge spammable heal from Transfusion

So what Brute would benefit most from huge dam increase, unlimmited end, extra recharge and a heal?

Damage Aura outweighs dam buff in this case, so that leaves /Fire /ElA and /Dark for secondaries. Dark is the only one without an +end power, and does rarely resisted damage, especially in most farm scenarios (and really, what's a brute with a pocket kin to do but farm?). Dark has the benefit of being the only one of these secondaries that has a +def component, making it more desirable.

Primaries, are a bit more difficult. SS is phenomenal with rage and footstomp, but a late bloomer in AoE. But lets assume we're talking late game anyway. Mu mastery has 3 AoE attacks now, meaning with a pocket kin and some extra recharge, you should have a full attack chain of AoE with just one from your primary. Yeah, hard to argue with SS. The to hit buff from rage is more important than the dam bonus. Of course if your kin is running tactics like a good little girl and you have a kismet, its really not all that necessary.

But I guess my vote goes for SS/Dark. Superior AoE damage, a mix of res and def, a heal in case transfusion misses, and the kb hole is easily filled.
  14. Thanks you guys,

Got the game up and running again, and made the changes you recommended. Hopefully that will prevent it from happening again.

    Muchas Gracias

It is a wireless router, but it'll take soem doing getting to an ethernet cable, will have to do that tomorrow.

    Thank you for your help!

Tried CoH helper, it kept timing out.
  18. Here's what I'm running:
    MB ASUS M3A78-EM AM2+ 780G/SB700
    CPU AMD|PH II X2 550 AM3 3.1G
    VC Asus EAH4770 Formula 512mb GDDR5
    OCZ Blade Series Gold 4GB
    Office XP

I ran the verify all app, still crashed, this time 3/4 way through loading screen:

./piggs/texWorldCZ.pigg: Corrupt pig file detected Read failed for file: texture_library/WORLD/city_zones/venice/Canal_roof_04.texture -1Your data might be corrupt, please run the patcher and try again

trying to log in a toon in Cap this time.
  19. ./piggs/sound3.pigg: Corrupt pig file detected
    Read failed for file: sound/Ogg/SteelCanyon/SteelAmb1_loop.ogg
    -1

Your data might be corrupt, please run the patcher and try again

This is one of the messages I recieve upon login. I tried to login a toon in SC, when that failed, tried St.Martial- the above is from the SM attempt.

Ran the updater three times, and it hasn't detected any problem.

Should I just try to reinstall? Never had this problem before.
  20. Alexandras

    Energy Aura?

Capping defense for s/l/e/f/c is stupid easy for an EA who is willing to do some farming. No leadership pool required. Two single target attacks get 5 slotted with the kin combat(4) and a mako's quad to round out the %s. Three aegis in either tough or if you choose to get the resist passives to cap out fire/cold. The steadfast +def. Six slot a thunderstrike in a ranged attack, either from your primary or, lets say, gloom. 4 slot multi strikes in a pbaoe. Take CJ, weave, and slot them and your def powers to 54+% enhancement, and you are golden. That's only two power pools, leaving you free to take hasten/ss AND fitness, if you so choose, or medicine as well.

My upcoming claws/ea looks absolutely sick. With three leftover power picks and 12 slots unused, I will be sitting at def cap to all but neg and psi. I have gloom and DN (4 slotted with despairs for the recharge. 57% global recharge without really trying (+hasten and a FF proc). No purples, but I do have 5 LoTG just waiting for him.

You give up a little recharge as compared to the other build suggested, but HF and SL actually come up faster, and SL is slotted for much more heal. Also have higher recovery and lower end/sec cost. Def is 4% higher for melee, but you gain close to 10% each for rang/AoE. If those don't matter to you, swap some slots out of CJ and SS, drop FE, and p/u Ball Lightning for more AoE. Course, if you really wanna up your survival, go ahead and get DN. You'll be able to effectively softcap melee with swapping Fences for Tentacles.
The Gaussian's proc is in SD, allowing you to briefly spike dam to insane levels (been able to come close to dam cap on a couple occassions).
  22. Unicycle- I'd just like to point out that your SS/Elec will likely be able to outperform the Elec/WP when it comes to farming. Remeber that farming is all about finding a map that maximizes your inf-xp-tickets-merits-whatever/minute. Would your Elec/WP be more survivable in a variety of contexts, yes. But the extra damage from rage/dam aura/footstomp as opposed to just the one big hit from Elec is noticable. Once you reach the survuvability index for whatever your fighting, it becomes all about killing stuff quickly. Find a map with energy damage critters and footstomp/ball lighting/elec shackles/lightning field those fodder into oblivion.

Slot in a Force Feedback +rech as mentioned above, and between hasten and lightning reflexes you'll be spamming AoE's nonstop.

My main villain side farmer is a SS/WP, and man do I miss having that dam aura.
  23. Hey all, this is my first time at playing doms, and having a real blast leveling my Ice/Psy. I'm looking toward endgame now (41) and trying to finalize a build. My current build has fitness pool instead of fighting, but I don't think it will be necessary once I get enough recharge to get Drain Psyche close to perma.

At any rate, here's my future CORE build:

You'll notice I have one power slot open, and 7(!) slots unused thus far. I'm torn between where to put them. That's where I need your help. I'll be using this toon for three main purposes: Solo and/or duo with my daughter's SS/WP brute, various SFs, and some team PvP (something I've only done once, to little effect, but my SG does frequently, and I want to join the fun).

I've thought about slotting up box and taking kick, slotting both with kin combats, and nearing s/l def cap. I could also throw another slot in tactics, with chance for B/U or +per IO. What else would be effective use for those slots.

PS- I'm quite happy with my power choices, but if something is absolutely horribly wrong, I'd like to know about it.

    Thanks

    AE for Fire/Fire

    Hey all,

Back after a near 8 month hiatus, and am trying out the new Mission Architect system. I was thinking that it would be the perfect opportunity to make my 50 fire/fire feel like a beast, instead of the squishy underpowered scranker that he is. I was thinking of filling it with terror resistant mobs to maximize burn again.

Are there any mission arcs that you've tried that make your fire/fire- or any other tank for that matter- feel like an absolute monster?

    Night Club?

    Hey all,
I was wondering if there were any bar/nightclub type maps. I've been looking, but the closest I've found is the casino ones.

    Any ideas?
