  1. ...without having to play through the first mission?
  2. If I am following a story arc I do not like to have to wade through bad spelling or wonky grammer. I do understand that dialogue will not always conform to these rules, however.

    "Information. Information. Information."
    "You won't get it!"
"By hook or by crook, we will."

Yay for the Prisoners. I may have to do something with these guys now in an arc.

    "What is your number?"

"I am not a number, I am a free man!"
  4. These were missions I had never taken or was even aware of, they just appeared in my mission list when I logged in.
  5. I have found on several occasions that I am logging in to find I have an ae mission I didn't have when logged out, this happens on characters who log out in the room with the MA consoles.

Is this a known bug, or is it somehow a feature?

    All,

I have a story with multiple missions. In the first mission, the enemy faction only has 3 units in it, or SHOULD only have 3. As the faction makes progress along the plot, I want another member to appear in the faction. However, I dont see a way to select which discrete members of a faction should appear in a particular mission.

Will I need to make 2 factions with the same name and different faction memebers, to show this sense of progress that the group is making? Or did I simply overlook something in the interface?

    Thanks,

    Lewis

What you need to do is create multiple versions of your custom group. That way you can evolve your custom group by adding and subtracting members for each subsequent map.
  7. When I am out solo or duo I read everything, but when with a group there is usually no time as most groups keep a pretty brisk pace.
  8. MMO devs frequently ignore what their testers tell them if it is not what they want to hear.

Hm. Not sure what I can do about this. I wanted it to be clear that he was not actually captured but fighting. In my testing, he had a group around him and he was shooting directly at them. I assume the MA either didn't place the group or placed them too far away when you played it?

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK, he might have been shooting at the nearby badguys, I was being a bit facetious, but the badguys were just standing there. There was no impression of there being a fight going on at all, the scene was very static.
  10. Do you have a guess at when Issue 15 is coming with the mission editor improvements?
  11. Finished mission 4.

Your arc is well written, detailed (as in good descriptions on npcs and such), and fun. I recommend this arc.

    That said, a few comments:

Void 2 was standing there shooting a sniper rifle at the furniture while he was being held captive.

Rescue Sgt Brady again? How lame is this guy to get captured twice in one arc?

I completed the mission without getting all the objectives when I dropped the boss, I still had a Void to rescue.

So, given what I saw in the "production values" of your mission, I'd be interested in your opinion of my mission.
  12. Basically the devs demonstrated very poor judgement by not allowing us to toggle off unwanted powers on badbuys. We simply cannot make proper goons.
  13. Is the mission file all that is needed if you want to send someone your mission or do you need the critter, group, and player created souvenir clues files as well?

Since absolutely NONE of what I just mentioned existed 3.5 years ago much less 5 I want to know what the same OLD grind is. I haven't even Added the new RWZ or Cimeroroa which gave players 35 and up new content and 2 new TFS.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Based on the player commentary so far, anything beyond auto-50 at character creation is a "grind" that will make them cancel their accounts.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can always tell who the dishonest little weasels are by the way they lie and distort the statement "levelling is too slow" into "I want insta-50 level".

Any more lies and [censored] to spread around, child?
  15. Is there any way to create a custom enemy that uses an energy weapon without making them a robot mastermind?
  16. I played through the first three missions this evening. I enjoyed them, the story kept me interested and the arc was fun.

I had some comments about the third mission:

    1) I really don't like time limits.

    2) the proliferation of different goon types was confusing, it looked like the police were helping the bad guys given how some of them looked.

    3) the final battle was pretty hard. I solo'd with a MA/Shield scrapper and when the reaction team showed up I got creamed. I ended up loading up on skittles and going back to kill a few before I died, rinse and repeat. In addition some other badguys showed up and I am not sure from where, I thought I had cleared the area before moving on the boss.
  17. I've gotten a few ratings but I am unsure where to look to see if someone left a comment. Where do you find comments on a mission?
  18. I had this error, it turned out to be caused by a Free Captive event I placed using a random bad guy from a default villain group and went away when I deleted the event.
  19. Well, the pace of "normal" levellling in CoH is a very slow grind, that is why I quit years ago. I came back to check out the mission editor and found that if I wanted to I could level really fast, or I could play cool story missions. I had a choice.

If I have to go back to slow grinding as my only levelling pace I'll take my money elsewhere and Cryptic loses a bit of revenue.

The most common comment I have seen in various forums when people talk about CoH is that the game is fun but the level grind is too steep. It would appear that the pace of levelling is one thing that has driven off a lot of customers.
  20. As someone who has played with a lot of game editors, one of the truths you have to face is learning the limitations of the tool you are provided. They are always limited and semi-broken but if you want to create your stories for others to play then you have to get used to them.
  21. I have been looking for interesting missions but finding that a lot of the missions I select cannot be played. I have been looking a variouis V Short missions with 4 stars but when I select Play on the console and then agree on the Warning pop up window the contact hologram does not change into the contact and I am told I have no mission arc if I click on the hologram.

This happened a lot last night, I finally gave up and logged off, I couldn't get a mission to start.
  22. It is really simple, the game has too steep an exp grind combined with missions that put you in the same environment over and over again. I came back and paid for a month of play after being away for years, and I enjoyed the fast levelling pace of farm missions because it meant that I wanted to level I could do so and when I wanted to play story missions I could do so. I had the choice of how I wanted to play.

I am still waiting for the dust to settle so I can see how the changes will work out, but if I have to go back to the old ways of slow grinding in the same old locations then I will cut off my subscription again and Cryptic will lose my money.

It is my opinion that Cryptic's enforcement of their Vision (tm) will ultimately mean a loss of customers for them, and a diminished revenue stream.
  23. OK, thanks, didn't realize that.
