Delaying appearance of members of a custom group?

All,

I have a story with multiple missions. In the first mission, the enemy faction only has 3 units in it, or SHOULD only have 3. As the faction makes progress along the plot, I want another member to appear in the faction. However, I dont see a way to select which discrete members of a faction should appear in a particular mission.

Will I need to make 2 factions with the same name and different faction memebers, to show this sense of progress that the group is making? Or did I simply overlook something in the interface?

Thanks,

Lewis

The only way I know of to make a specific member of a group appear is to set a "defeat a boss" spawn. Then of course you have the problem of deciding what supporting mobs to surround it with!

The multiple groups system should work fine, and won't eat up your %. The only hangup there is that you can't have two custom groups with the same name.

What you need to do is create multiple versions of your custom group. That way you can evolve your custom group by adding and subtracting members for each subsequent map.

I hear spaces can make the custom group name look similar enough to pass as each other, but I in no way have confirmation of this. But it's worth a try until someone comes along and says it doesn't work (or you find out yourself).

This is going to be tricky as each custom group will add to the file size and even if they use the same critters it will cause that critter data to get repeated redundantly inside the .storyarc file. The only way to avoid that would be to use a lot of Boss Details to insert the extra Minions/LTs/Bosses as needed.
