The Cathedral of Pain is expected to be released prior to Issue 8, and it will be a little different than originally planned. It will be PvE oriented and the trial will remain active for 7 days.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hero groups DO fight on occasion, yes??
Especially when it's over something evil like an "Item of Power" from an evil group like the Rularuu (not sure the backstory on it, but if anyone could fill in the holes and say that it is only safe in MY posession type storyline)
Cricket, can you clarify this please? The CoP trial was already entirely PvE in all its previous incarnations, so in what sense will it be PvE oriented?
[/ QUOTE ]
You are correct. The trial itself was (and will be) all PvE. But there was PvP in the Cathedral of Pain process: it is the next step in the cycle (raiding) where the PvP came into play. That isn't part of the trial run itself, but there is a connection. If you walked away from the trial with an Item of Power it meant that you should probably expect to be raided by another supergroup.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes it is SO heroic for other hero groups to go break into another hero groups base and STEAL something, while causing property damage /rolleyes
Really who thought this up?

Ha, I found it and I thought i'd bump it.
This is really the most awesome guide I've ever seen. -
Is a fix for the hoods and changing the shape of your head in the pipe?
My "Youthful" head pokes through the hood on the top giving me two extra 'ears'. Quite annoying. -
Not sure what to search for or who made it. I saw it maybe 6-10 months ago and wasn't sure if it was even a guide either!!
If anyone has seen it, and could direct it to me, I'd be much appreciative.
Thanks. -
Having to farm for that badge at all is silly, requirement too high. Kthxbye.

For some reason I also remember the code being UUDDLRLRBABA yatta yatta for Contra. Anyone else think this?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because I'm a freak, and a few years after the Konami code actually was named the "Konami Code" I heard many different versions of it. I had to test them all to satisfy my curiosity. It just couldn't be that all the codes were programmed in, just a few key triggers.
They all worked.
I didn't have any solid conclusion... like as long as you had an "Up Down" and a "Left Right" and a "B A" it would work. But I think I came to that conclusion... not sure about order either... if a A B U D L R would work... but
U D L R B A worked
U U D D L R L R B A worked
U U D D L R L R B A B A worked...
U D U D L R L R B A worked...
and you get the idea...
I'm weird... -

Again, after all that's said and done, I find the changes have ultimately brought more diversity to feasibility of builds, and more variety of play. I notice that most of the people who are ranting ad nauseum about the changes are ones who refuse to adapt.
[/ QUOTE ]
1) ED added no new options to the game. This is a fallacy. It FORCES people to slot in an even MORE specific way in order to reach max effectiveness now, but that was by taking AWAY something, not adding anything.
2) As to your repeated characterization of those unhappy with the repeated nerfs which you, having been gone for 14 months, weren't here for as "whiners" and those who "fail to adapt": it's not whining to express displeasure at a change in a product with which you are now less-satisfied, nor to repeatedly defend your assertion that it shouldn't have been changed. See "New Coke" for an example of why. And since I am one of the most vocal proponents of a partial rollback of the combined I5/ED nerfs, let me assure you: I have adapted. I have min-maxed my character through ED-compliant slotting, and I solo on relentless on every character I have over lvl 20 in both CoH (Invincible, of course) and CoV.
So, I guess what I'm saying is: you seem to be the one who's whining about people who complain, and "adapting" to the nerfs doesn't alter the fact that they ARE nerfs. Seeing as how you haven't played in over a year, it IS just possible that you're experiencing the fun of the game as if you had never played before, while those of us who stuck around have DEFINITELY noticed the difference.
Not everyone is equally against it. But ALMOST everyone agrees that SOMETHING has to be done for SOME of the classes that were hit hardest by these double-strength global nerfs.
If you don't LIKE this activity,, then feel free to move on to another thread. But don't come in here insulting the posters by denigrating their opinion en masse and categorizing us all as "whiners" and "drama-queens".
It just marks you as a closed-minded, self-obsessed....alright, I'm going to stop there.
Have a good one.

heres an interesting question.. instead of complaining about ED, and getting nothing done, why not accept that ED is in the past, and will likely NEVER be removed as a whole. instead of using your time, effort, and resoruces to complain about what has happened to you, and why your min/max toons have seen this GIANT hit in recent days, why not Look to the future, and tell the devs what you would like to see them add...
For instance. ED has severely effected one-enhancement accepting powers, like hasten, hover, health, stamina, etc.. ok, That change is in the past.. now, instead of whining about this, how about you take the approach that MIGHT ACTUALLY GET NOTICED BY THE DEVS, since you aren't linked into the stuff that nobody wants to read, and try this... Make a post that says "hmm, Hover is slow, is there any hope of increasing the base speed to make it more useful?"
or
"hmm.. It seems to me that I'm running out of endurance faster than it seems that I should.. My toon has endurance reducers in most of his powers, and it is still a problem. perhaps the base recovery rate of stamina might be boosted to compensate?"
Quit fighting the past. if you want to complain about somthing, so it while the patch/update is still on test, and the decision hasn't been set in stone. giving up on something has no purpose, but accepting change, and offering suggestions to make the game AS IT IS NOW better would likely get far better results.
[/ QUOTE ]
Obviously you weren't here BEFORE it went to test. The outcry was maddenning. While it was on test, same. Tons of testing was done and all was ignored. Suggestions were made, and all of them equally ignored.
Maybe we weren't ingored, but the EXACT proposal that was posted is the same thing on live today. Tons of really good suggestions (in my opinion better, rewarding for diverse slotting instead of penalizing for focused slotting) are still being suggested. But we're just customers. We pay to play their game. -

How about doing something like happens with Domination? i.e., you hit Max Fury, and a big old FURY!!! logo pops up, you regain all your endurance, and for 30 seconds you get to stay at that level? Every time you hit someone a big old FURY!!! pops up over their head?
This could be balanced then by having Fury simply reset to zero afterwards.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ummm... no?!
The only acceptable graphic would be SMASH, and it would be really awesome if that when you're at 90% fury or above, you get random SMASH every now and then. -
You can't have the SG base cost on size of SG, unless Prestige belongs to the Player instead of the SG.
If you had a 75 person fully coordinated SG, you could have them all earn, everyone quit except the leader, buy everything, and then reinvite.
Yes a pain, but fully possible. -

Not to mention HEALTH, they did absolutely nothing to counteract the loss of health regen with ED. Everyone made a big deal about Stamina, but Health matters too.
[/ QUOTE ]
You say this as if it's an oversight or a consequence of ED that the devs didn't foresee. Trust me, they were/are fully aware of the effect of ED on various regen skills (health, fast healing, quick recovery, instant healing, dull pain, integration....). Regens have been nerfed and nerfed again with every single issue. It's fully intentional.
[/ QUOTE ]
I somehow don't believe they're "fully aware." Every issue everything has been "working as intended" and every issue we still see "re-balancing." And the re-balancing is STILL not done yet. -
[ QUOTE ]
When is this change coming?
[/ QUOTE ]Errgg, correcting my post, there seems to be some confusion! -
[ QUOTE ]
the discount amounts to 1-4 points per attack, usually 2 points. so with an attack chain 4 long you can save approximatly 8 endurance.
assume for arguement that chain takes 10 seconds to execute.
8 endurance every 10 seconds is 24 end/ minute or .4 endurance a second which is the same recovery youd get with an additonal 3 slots in stamina.
the endurance that you are no longer recovering you are also no longer using. Also keep in mind rest hasa reduced recharge time so you can use it more often to reduce any additonal down time you might have ( and the nerf to stamina does effect your downtime, but not your combat effectivness )
the devs actually handled stamina and ED pretty well. The real failure they had is all the defensive powers that got this 1/3 enhancment nerf and didn get anything to compensate.
So if you want to complain about enhancement diversification, complain about scrapper/tank defenses becuase they actually got nerfed whereas our endurance did not.
[/ QUOTE ]Not just defenses but damage too. Which is a real problem. You are assuming that combat effectiveness (damage) did not go down as well. But it did. A standard 1 acc 5 dam attack now has 25% less effectiveness in terms of damage. We did not "break even" We are less effective.
Using your above data lets say the 4-move attack chain took out a +1 minion. That same attack chain will NO LONGER DO SO. It will take at least 1-2 extra attacks, saving you nothing. You pay more endurance to take out the same +1 minion. Not so bad when you are taking on a +1 minion by himself. He doesn't present a threat. Soloing an even level or +1 boss and his minions, a whole 'nother problem. Taking on AV's? A joke. Fighting Nosferatu the other day 20 minutes of straight pounding he just would not die. This was with a well balanced 7-man team. He was 43 and the average level was 41 facing him. Rediculous.
I don't mind they changed it. It's fresh and new. Great. MAKE THE SECONDARY EFFECTS DO SOMETHING! Disorient Duration for SS attacks? It'd be nice if it actually disoriented reliably. Why in heck would I slot something that happens only 10% of the time? It'd be like slotting damage on an attack for a scrapper and only getting the damage bonus on crits only. it'd also be nice to actually slot for a INCREASE is disorient possibility! Say a 10% additional chance to disorient, instead of increasing the duration.
Same with the Acc debuffs of Dark Melee for example. Make it worthwhile to slot that stuff.
I'm all for change for the better. ED is a nice change, I'm waiting for the better.
EDIT: My liberal use of pronouns gets myself and a whole host of other people in trouble... a lot... -
The system will work as long as they don't change influence rates, including enhancement sell back rates. Even enchancement drops. If any influence rates change, they had better change prestige rates.
-
To some degree... We need to know at WHAT degree. Otherwise there are still uninformed choices.
Thanks for nothing. -
Also made a kin/sonic, there's so much sonic I might've chose something else, but I'd rather try it too like everyone else. Maybe the "herd" will thin out in the later levels.
EXCELLENT work. I love it. Defintely confirmed a lot of what I've seen/heard/and assumed about a lot of powers. I have more direction now and am even taking a few different routes as well.
Thanks a bunch!
