  1. Well, my post was more for fun. One of the great things about CoH/CoV is that there are so many viable options. I’ve played other games where there were many choices, but most could not compete.

I’ve been playing for a year now and have tried several different classes, mostly on CoH. I’ve enjoyed cont, brute and blaster too. I just seem to like scrappers mostly.

My problem is that I keep finding something else to try without really finishing what I’ve already started.

It’s a good problem to have.
  2. How hard can it be? I can’t seem to decide on which scrapper to play. I have Drowling (kat/wp), my first level 50. I just got my Emerald-Guard (DM/WP) to 50, but I can’t seem to decide on a final build. In fact, he has been standing next to Wolfe for the past couple days. I’ve played so many up to level 20+ and then I come up with the “wait… this would be cool too” and then I start another scrapper. Over the past few days I’ve been playing Kylrik Pendragon (Fire/SD). Now I’m thinking of combining Fire/WP and making a scrapper/blaster type.

It’s not like I have 10 hours a day to play! How many new experiences must I go through before I decide on one I like most.

    Wait… you said I should try MA/??

ok… let’s me log in and make a costume so I can get a visual.
  3. My DM/WP toon has been stuck at level 49 for a while now, due to RL work and just not having any direction on where to bring this guy. I was planning on going with accuracy and physical perfection, but now I’m not sold on that idea. I plan on doing a re-spec this weekend, but I no longer have a direct concept for him, so I could use some help.

I know DM toons are not great master farmers, but I was thinking with some of the darkness masteries that it might work a bit better. I would like to also have the opportunity to hunt AVs.

Also, I really like the costume of the guy I have now and he just looks like someone who would be flying and not just leaping.

I know concepts are an opinion, but at this moment I don’t have a focus. Would anyone mind sharing their build to give bring about my imagination?

I don’t have a bunch of inf invested and have been waiting to get to level 50… which could be tonight.

    Thanks for any assistance.
  4. I just built me a fire/shield too. However, I'm trying to go more with the swords. I notice most builds only have one sword power, is that due to recharge time?

    Thanks in advance
  5. Thanks for the advice Verene, I'll take a better look at it next weekend when I return. Also, my level selections were not picked for any reason, since I'm already level 48. The build was based on knowing I will be using my respec.

    Thanks!
  6. I'm really not sure what skill/power sets I want for my DM/WP. My guy is at level 48, so I will be re-sepc' soon. Here is what I have:

  7. For those of you with dark/wp, could you please share your builds? I'm having problems deciding how I want build; too many ideas.
  8. I've been thinking of going elec/fire, but I have a couple other projects going right now. I know it would not be the most powerful, but could be a bunch of fun.
  9. I just wanted to share my build.....

  10. I’m not sure how someone can over think a low level toon, after all they there is not much to think about at level 1. I also doubt that most people would feel they need to be godlike, but Kheldians do have a different feel to them.

I am normally a melee type player and I prefer scrappers. Even at lower levels a scrapper can take out a few baddies quickly. On the other end, a tanker has a notable survivability to them. What was initially frustrating to me was the stamina required to level on a PB. And before I’m asked, “Yes, I do slot endurance and accuracy first“. I also tend to solo more often, due to real life, which can make those early levels a bit more time consuming. The description of Khelds shows them as med/med power/def, so there should not be too many people expecting them to be umber powerful. Furthermore, since they gain strength by those in your group then they do not sound like a class normally utilized by those who solo frequently so some people may not even have their heart into them.

This game has so many options, which is a great aspect. There are still so many scrapper combinations I want to try out, even those I have deleted already. J With all these options it’s easier to say, “Heck, this PB is having stam drain issues and I still want to try out that DB/SR guy too….” Sure, with Khelds you have the option of forms, but the other classes have several different combinations to pick from and I personally don‘t like way to forms look.

Speaking of appearance it’s important to me that my character “feels” and looks right. I can change the way blades look to give the appearance I want. I can give my blaster a cool looking bow, and my tanker can wield a nice look axe. However, I can’t take the glowing bubble away from my PB. Ok, I can but then there goes my protection. A couple months ago we got the ability to customize our heroes even more, well… the other classes did.

I can’t speak for everyone else of course, but these minor issues can add up, as they did for me. I’ve never hated PB even when I deleted them. I just told myself I wanted to play another class because this one just did not feel right, but then again I’m more of a melee guy. Add the fact the stamina drain was annoying and I did not want to be the boy in the bubble it made starting another toon an easy decision.

Nothing wrong with Khelds, just so many options on how to spend your game time.
  11. I have no doubt there are players like myself who have deleted several Kheldians before ever reaching level 20; they are just so frustrating to play early on! I’ve never surpassed level 15 before and I keep going back to my scrappers.

Well, I was determined to reach level 30 before I pushed the almighty delete button yet again. I’ve heard it said a couple times that Kheldians are much better once stamina is taken at 20. Last week I reached level 20 and took stamina. I then reached level 22 and loaded up on level 25 SOs. What a difference! No, I’m not nearly as strong as my scrappers at the same level, but I’m having a great time with my new PB and more importantly… I’m not frustrated!.

I can’t say if PBs will become my favorite class. It might, but it’s too early to tell. All I know is right now I’m having fun because I enjoy the change of pace this guy provides; I feel more like a “superhero” than I did on my scrappers.

Anyways, I just wanted to share my experience because I’m sure there are others out there like myself. If the above fits you… just give it some more time.
  12. let's see if this works

  13. You have Dark Consumption and Soul Drain slotted for damage. Are you planning on using these as AOE damage or just have them slotted like that for the set bonuses?

A: Yes, my goal was to use them for AoE damage.

How attached are you to Strength of Will?

A: I was thinking of doing the same thing Exxar did on his example and that was to drop it for Shadow Punch. I like SoW, but if something had to go that would be the one.

With the amount of End Recovery you have (including the 3 procs), it looks like you could run FA all the time, is that your plan?

A: Yes, I was planning on running FA all the time, at least the majority of the time.

Machine Man: Thanks for the review and any assistance would be appreciated.

Exxar: Thanks also for the help. I was wondering if DC and SD would be enough to assist with an attack chain. I’ll take a closer after work tonight.

    Thanks folks!
  14. If some of this set-up reminds you of pieces from another thread, it could be because I took a little from it. Although I was able to find some information out there, I could not find enough on this build itself. I do appreciate the information I found from previous threads and thank those original writers. However, Frankenstein was build from many parts and he was known as a monster; I don’t want my creation to turn out like that.

My DM/WP scrapper is level 46 and I will be pressing him to level 50 when I have time to play, so I’m looking to find a final build. As for the game style, I would love to hunt down some AVs when I get the chance, but just really looking for a scrapper who can survive and have some general fun.

I know many people might not be keen on the idea of a scrapper with WP also taking physical perfection, but for right now it’s more of a concept and I’m interested in checking out that route. However, I was also interested in dipping into the darkness mastery too; body mastery won.

Yes I know this build would cost a ton and I don’t have that kind of influence, but I’m a goal setter. If I enjoy the build concept I’ll have something to achieve as I move forward.

Anyways, I would appreciate any help on improving the build. Both positive and negative critiques are appreciated. I did not get the defensive totals I had hoped for, but I’m very good at building heroes.

    Thanks in advance!

  15. Thank you Fireheart for the response. I have taken a look at the two guides and it did seem that there are many options. I just rolled up my new PB, V’hal Tau, and have already made one discovery: I don’t like the visual of glinting eyes, so I went with gleaming bolt. So, I’m guessing some of the power I select will be also for visual effects.

I think the hardest thing for me to adjust to will be that my primary heroes are scrappers, so I have to get use to the different play style. I’ve created a couple Kheldians before, but they never seem to last past level 15 or so. However, now that I have finished building my primary scrapper I want another project.

Again, much appreciated advice and I’ll be working on this guy a little at a time.

I’m looking forward to the challenge
  16. I've tried a few times to get into Kheldians and just have not been able to do so, but I want to try again. I've read a couple of the human only PB guides, but there were only 2.

Anyone have a solid PB guide out there?

    thanks in advance!
  17. Sorry, I have nothing to add, but just tagging this thread. I've recently got my DM/WP to level 30 and enjoying the game play, however, I don't have a final build.

Although I'm going a slightly different power route I think some of this info will be great for some ideas on my toon too.
  18. thanks Pyro! I will take a look at it
  19. First, thank you both for reviewing my post and offering some suggestions. I’m very interested in improving myself and up for critiques.

    As for the questions….

    A few questions:

    1) What kind of budget are you looking at?

Answer: I really don’t mind spending tons of influence. No, I don’t have a bunch right now (Maybe 150 million) but I like setting goals and achieving those results. If it takes me a while, I don’t mind.

    2) What attack chain are you using?

I normally use something like gd, da, gc, fs, da, gc – but I can’t say I’m consistent

    3) How focused do you want to be in AV killing? Are you willing to sacrifice AoE potential for it?

I would like to become more of an AV killer. I’ve already defeated a few, but I would like to get even better.

I’ve taken a bit of advice from the boards before, a little from this and from that. However, now I’ve made too many changes and could really use some advice.

    Again, thank you
  20. Just going to bump this and see if anyone might be able to help but missed it the first time.

    thanks in advance!
  21. Greetings folks,

I’ve been playing with alts recently, but I can’t seem to get too much into them, maybe because I’m on the road in real life too much right now. Anyways, I plan on using my primary toon a bit more. I have killed a few AVs and plan on doing it some more. Overall this guy is pretty good (imo), but if I can make him better I plan to do so. This is how I have him slotted right now, but I’m willing to make changes.

    Thanks in advance!

    DM/WP build help

I'm working on one now, well after I do a research paper, and I'll post my draft sometime soon. It's a struggle, but working on a plan.

    DM/WP build help

I can't help because I have the same question.... My toon is level 22 or close to that and I have a lot of work ahead of me.
  25. I can't seem to find one, but I'm sure some of you have been planning to share your hidden build with the rest of us...
