With all of those powers, you are currently at your Stealth cap anyways. Yes, Rikti drones ignore Stealth no matter what, but even if they didn't, adding more Stealth on your character wouldn't help.

Thanks for the advice. I might still try to take Stamina a little earlier, but maybe not right at level 20. I do like to be able to Scrap a bit, and do worry about endurance in those instances. If I can get the Theft of Essence proc for cheap, I'll probably try to get Dark Regen earlier, and push Stamina back a bit.
Thanks for the help! -

Hey all,
I've been wanting to create this guy for a while, but finally got around to making a build for him. I wanted to run it by the Stalker pros though, to see if you could improve upon it. It will mostly be a solo build, with some teaming. The Melee and S/L Defenses aren't bad, and with Parry and the -ToHit from Cloak of Fear, I should be functionally at the soft cap for Melee at least.
Still, I feel like I'm taking some key powers pretty late in the build, and do worry about that. Especially if I take him through Praetoria instead of the Rogue Islands.

You may want to go check out the Soldier forums, where there should be a bunch of builds that will help you out.
-
First off, we are going to need a LOT more data to help determine what the problem is. I would suggest heading up to the Technical Issues and Bugs forum, a few up from the Player Questions forum, and posting in there. Those guys know more about the technical side of it than most people who post here.
However, be ready to get them a lot more information about what kind of computer you are using, the specs, and what else you have going on at the time. -
I believe that you have to cancel your billing with your old card first, through the account management page, and then set up billing with whatever new card you have. You will not be able to pay in advance, but this would allow you to keep going with no lapse in time.
If your account does try to charge your old credit card, fails, and unsubscribes you, then you put in the new credit card info, you will not lose any Vet reward time, except that you will be set back by however many days between the time the billing fails and you get your new billing info set up. -
Quote:Okay, look at the first response. He was unsure if there was a way to respec in Praetoria. As such, he gave a completely valid alternative to performing a respec that he knew would work there. These are all reasonable things to do when offering advice.
After you've answered the original question.
The second answer gave a response that yes, there is a way to do it, and where it was.
Between those two answers, the OP got his question answered, and maybe even got a better way to do what he was looking to do that doesn't use one of his respecs.
That sounds pretty good to me. -
Quote:Wow, got a chip on your shoulder, there? Maybe the OP doesn't know about dual builds, and is level 9. In one more level, they can do that, and not need to use a respec. Telling him/her that might be useful, too. Letting them know that at low levels, it's sometimes easier to just reroll is also just as valid of a comment.Different people may have different reasons for using respec.
Maybe just help the OP out by telling him where the respec person is located (like some of the other posters did) instead of telling him YOUR reasons for him not needing to respec. If he wants to respec at level 6, who are you to tell him he can't? It's HIS respec to burn.
Yes, people sometimes have reasons for just wanting to respec, but it's not a bad thing to inform them of the alternatives. -
Travel powers aren't really meant to be used in missions. Sure, they CAN be used there, but their main functionality is to let you navigate the broader world much quicker.
Using them in tight caves isn't really a good use of them, and shouldn't be, I think. That's what the more basic travel powers (Hover, Combat Jumping, Swift, Hurdle, Sprint, etc.) should be used for. -
Okay, so I've been having a slight issue with GR. That is the yellow background color when you're making your costume, and especially when choosing power colors. When choosing fire powers, for instance, any red you choose tends to turn an orange-y color. However, when you take that into the game, it looks bright pink, which isn't at all what I wanted.
So, my suggestion is to let us choose from the three background colors in the costume and power screens, where the bright/dark tabs are under the character. This would allow us to change the background color and see what the powers look like against different backgrounds. -
Well, you can get your coordinates by typing in /loc.
However, what you're probably looking for is something more like vidiotmaps, which will show you where the badges are on your mini-map. -
That is a VERY general question. Do you know what powersets you want, at the least? All Tankers can fight and take a good beating. You're going to need to be more specific in what it is that you want to do.
-
1) Doctored Wounds isn't all that expensive, last I checked. It's an uncommon set, so tends to drop at a decent rate.
2) Pre-level 50, endurance will be a bit of a concern, but not that much since Energize acts as a pseudo-Conserve Power, and you'll have Power Sink. These things will keep you running pretty smoothly. However, if you're on a team, you're going to have trouble getting aggro without Taunt and a reliable aggro aura. You will want some Acc in that as you're leveling up, at the very least. -
Well, my Elec/DB has been fun, if not the most effective combo. A few suggestions:
1) I went Leaping pool. Combat Jumping gives you Immob protection, and a single -KB IO will allow you to skip Grounded. Neg Energy attacks just aren't all that common, you'll already be capped to Energy damage, and with Power Sink and Energize, I've never felt I needed End Drain resistance. But that is up to you.
2) Energize should definitely get some Heal enhancements in it. Or five of the Doctored Wounds set. That will help maximize the value of this power. And you'll be using it a decent amount of the time.
3) You will want to slot some Acc in Lightning Field. Heck, you'll want more slots in there in general. For damage auras, I usually slot 2 Acc, 2 End, 2 Damage. If you don't hit the enemy with this power, you're not getting aggro with it.
4) You've got all of the powers for the Sweep combo, but not for the Attack Vitals combo, which is generally seen as one of the better combos in the set. I would almost drop Blinding feint for Ablating Strike, but maybe that's just me.
Hope this helps a bit. -
1) Slot an Acc in each attack. I don't care how much +ToHit you have, having one Acc in each attack will definitely help out.
2) Take Rage. Your damage output is going to be much lower without this power.
3) Is there a reason you are taking both Super Speed and Fly? The two don't mesh well together, and those two power picks could be freed up for something like Tough and Weave.
4) Fly and Super Speed do not need three slots. Super Speed I believe is capped at one slot in terms of speed (maybe 1.5). Flight recently got a boost, and is easy to cap as well.
5) Try to fit Taunt in there. Unless you're really good at Tanking, having Taunt as a backup can definitely help out. If nothing else, the -range on it will help you clump some enemies together better.
I would definitely take a look at some of the more recent guides on Inv/SS. -
I'll /sign this. Wouldn't mind having War Walls that look like the citizens take good care of them.
-
Agreed with Techbot.
These powers are great in the lower levels, and aren't supposed to replace actual attacks that you get from your powersets. ANY global +ToHit or +Acc bonuses that you get from other powers or set bonuses will increase their chance to hit (which is the standard 75% against an even-level enemy without defense), and their damage is already high because you can't enhance it. -
Well, before this whole thread breaks down and we need to end up talking about various BBQ recipes, and about which style of BBQ is better (Dry Rub, duh), I want to break down your post a bit, if that's okay.
There are basically two factors here:
1) Why do some people play wussy Tankers
2) Why do some people build offensive Tankers.
These are two completely distinct issues. My responses:
1a) People sometimes see great high-level Tankers, and think to themselves, "I'd like to take damage like that, I'm gonna roll up a Tanker!" Then they roll up a Tanker, but find that at the low levels, they can't take damage like that high-level one could all by himself. They try, and find themselves dying a lot. This can breed a certain wussiness into them. A Pavlovian response from being beaten to the floor because they don't have the ability to take the punishment as well at the low levels, even though teams tend to expect them too.
Edit -> Since I just saw that you were talking about teen-level Tankers, I think that this might be a big part of it. In the teens, Tankers might be getting the last of the basic armors, but without SOs, they're not as strong as they could be. Meanwhile, enemy attacks are ramping up in damage, so Tankers are seeing a large increase in the damage they are taking.
1b) Some people just can't play Tankers well. This isn't something you or I can change. Some people just don't play certain classes as well as others. But they might still try because they think it's fun.
2) Again this might depend on the person. Some people might want to use a certain powerset hero-side from level 1-50, without needing to switch over, and only Tankers have that set blueside. Others might like the various powersets, but want the higher natural Def/Resistance numbers that Tankers get from their powers, and don't mind doing a little less damage. Other people will realize that attacking generates aggro, and so want to focus on that way of generating Threat. There are many different reasons for wanting to play a heavy-assault Scrapper. Each person is likely to have a slightly different reason. -
Quote:Way back in my day, we didn't even HAVE inventions, you young whipper-snappers! We had to Fly uphill both ways to Faultline. And we didn't have no fancy "Pocket D" like you young punks have. We were grateful to get 1 million from a costume contest! Now get off my lawn!Panzer, in my first week of playing this game a hero gave me 250K. Being squeaky green, to me that WAS a lot of money.
If the OP had made say maybe 35k in inf through normal play, then spent 25k in buying and crafting, then to them, it was a lot. It all about perception. Don't you remember 'way back when...'? -

Set bonuses will improve the accuracy of the Vet Reward attacks. However, they are highly unlike to have their base accuracies improved, since they're not supposed to be used as part of the attack chain at higher levels.
-
They have not removed it, as far as I know. The streak breaker should work like so:
Final to-hit : misses allowed
>.9 : 1
.8-.9 : 2
.6-.8 : 3
.4-.6 : 4
.3-.4 : 6
.2-.3 : 8
0 -.2 : 100
So, after three misses, you should have been forced to hit. I don't know why that wouldn't happen, but it could just be a perception issue. With actual data though, maybe there is a problem with it, or even just a display issue.
May I ask what you were fighting? I only ask because maybe it's a display problem with the ToHit value. -
