Looks good. *grabs empty water bottle, throws it to the ground, watches it bounce away* ANOTHER!
Not looking good though for Green Lantern. -
Quote:That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. But, for what it's worth supposedly "the announcement was more tongue-in-cheek than straightforward sales platform."At last week's ComicsPro retailer summit in Texas, Marvel's Senior Vice President of Sales, David Gabriel, told the audience of funnybook store owners, "As a result of the Fantastic Four sales and media coverage, Marvel is going to kill a main character every quarter."
Although he assured them, "This is not a joke", that hardly rules out the kind of publicity stunt that temporarily attracts the notice of the mainstream press and simultaneously erodes their actual readership in the long term. ...
Seems like someone had to do some damage control.
Y'know he's been replaced by Axel Alonzo? -
If time isn't a factor, Agonus would be played by Arnold Vosloo from the first Mummy movie. So put this guy
into this costume.
I chose that because Aggie is intended to be in his mid 30's, and back then Vosloo was 37. And he looked pretty good all clean shaven then too. >.> -

Quote:Pretty much my thoughts on the matter.Well that's the thing. (for me anyway)
I don't think it looks bad. The effects looked respectable to good, and the trailer made it look pretty exciting. (though that never guarantees quality) I also liked the use of the blue and yellow outfits.
I've just checked out on the franchise. I can't bring myself to care about the movie whether it be good or bad. Which is vaguely upsetting seeing what a big X-Men fan I am.
Trailer looks a lot better than I expected, but I got burned on X3 and Wolverine: Origins, and still don't have any intentions of seeing this in theatres. And as First Class has been reported to have a similar (if not worse) production schedule to X3, I don't want to give Fox any more of my money, and thus reason to continue treating the franchise like they've been doing. -
Quote:Yup. There's information out there about them, but beyond for a rare "Haha! Lookit!" segment on local news (which wouldn't happen in Palm City anyway because of Fleming), you need to go looking for information on them. You mean like these real life super hero wannabees?
http://news.reallifesuperheroes.org/...articles-2011/
Note: I'm not trying to be mean to them just pointing out that they are nothing more than average local people from all over the country getting media attention.
It's sorta like fan interference in live sports. Commentators will usually ignore it, since they don't want to encourage it. -
Quote:The winged monster thing is Dragon Man.I like the triple hexagon now that Johnny is gone. It shows they are technically not filling his spot... sorta... I also like the white and black. It's very simple and clean.
I haven't read an FF comic in forever so I have no clue who all those people are in the second pic. And why is Spidey there?...
The little blonde girl is Valeria Richards.
I imagine one of the blonde guys is Franklin Richards, but I can't explain the second blonde male, or the other alien looking things and the birds.
And it's a guess, but I'd say Spidey is one of the first one's to join up for the Future Foundation. I doubt he's meant to do anything like replace Johnny's role outright. -
Quote:Originally Black Adam was Egyptian. Now he's basically Arabic, coming from DC's fictional Middle Eastern country Kahndaq. Is Black Adam "black"? If so, he might be the oldest, as one of Shazam's (Capt. Marvel) original enemies.
Entirely possible, or that there are other, more obscure characters we're missing. Either way, beyond the superheroey material I'm the most familiar with. -

Military guy finds magic white gorilla. (/Hermes) Eats said gorilla to gain its power. Starts wearing ridiculous gorilla costume, and adopts one of the worst supervillain names ever.
The basic idea's not so bad, but the execution is downright silly.

Meet the new and... improved?... Fantastic Four.
Don't like the costumes, but having the FF, er, Richards and friends forming a new JLA-esque group of heroes with a rotating and/or big roster could be interesting. -
Currently, in no particular order I'd say
The Plutonian. Imagine if Superman was never all that stable to begin with, but he managed to still put on the show of being a paragon of what's right. Aaand then he finally snaps and starts a -calculated- rampage of death and destruction.
Max Damage. The flip-side of the Plutonian. A complete monster of a villain decides someone needs to step up to be the hero the Plutonian was supposed to be.
Survivor. A former ally of the Plutonian who seems to be taking the speed course on "how to become a powerhungry fascist."
Magneto. I like "noble evil" villains, but I also like the redemption aspect of what they've been doing with him in Utopia too.
Dr. Doom. It's Doom, c'mon.
Moonstone. The whole manipulator aspect of her character amuses me.
Sinestro. Even though I -still- don't like the name Thaal Sinestro, now that they've finally started fleshing him out to give him a motivation for what he's done, he's a much better character.
Guy Gardner. Tvtropes put it best, I think. Essentially Guy doesn't wait for the Call to action, he actively busts down doors looking for it.
Black Adam. Going back to the whole noble evil thing, (WWIII aside) Adam is my favorite character in DC. -
Agreed. One would think they'd have gone... anywhere... else instead of staying in the alley for who knows how long to examine the robot.
Quote:And finally, when The Cape's kid is talking to his mom about trying to catch The Cape on webcam, and she says he doesn't exist. How is that possible?
This dude has appeared out in the open two of the last three episodes, teaming up with Fleming to stop the train, and then save him from an assassin. You mean to tell me not a single member of the press was around to take a picture, or that no one in Palm City has a cell phone camera? The Cape should've been plastered all over the news by now. Or at the very least be a much-talked-about urban myth.
Now yeah, it's silly that he lowers his hood every chance he gets. It's not like he has a unique hairstyle and doesn't alter his voice in the slightest either.
But that aside, if we're putting the show up to a real life test, I don't have a problem with the Cape not having much publicity. As has been said, Fleming has control of major media, and other than that, how much legit publicity would a low rent Batman actually get? People doing the real life costumed protector thing are taken as seriously as alien visitor theories. and as far as we know, Faraday isn't doing anything like making daily attempts to stop crime. He's gunning for ARK and Fleming, another factor that limits his exposure. -
Quote:Moses Magnum was in a couple of Classic X Men comics. Classic X Men meaning Marvel reprinted comics from the 70s in the 90s.
Moses is from 1975, there must be someone from before that. I'm not sure Black Manta counts if he went decades without anyone seeing his skin color.
Man Ape is the next oldest I can find at '69. Wiki doesn't say when it was revealed that Black Manta was black. -

Awww, yeah... outside of Aguilera's complete hosing of the national anthem, and the halftime show's sound being atrocious...
Let me get this straight. People actually pay, like, real money, to see the Black Eyed Peas live?! -
All right, here's an idea for the basics for a Shapeshifting powerset.
Make it a defensive melee set, primarily toggled based with a few Resistance inherents thrown.
Anyway, as for the shapeshifting aspect. Have it work like a combination of Halloween costumes and costume change emotes. The new shapes would be connected to the toggles, turning on the toggle initiates some sort of transformation animation, a flash, and then your character has the new form, along with new defensive abilities, like a damage aura, increased regen, increased end recovery, increased recharge, or an increase to Res or Def, or whatever.
I figure the new forms could be split into at least two categories; Disguise and Elemental. Players would have the options to choose between each category for the toggles at the Power Customization screen.
Disguise would be thematically intended for Stalkers, obviously, but it could go either way. Each Disguise toggle would provide a set costume for an enemy group commonly found near the level the toggle unlocks at, like Hellions at low levels, then Freakshow, then Longbow, Carnies, etc, etc.
And Elemental would provide energy forms based on the common elements of the game, something like Fire, Electricity, Darkness, Radioactive, and Pure Energy/Light.
If a player overlaps two or more toggles, the player gets the form related to the toggle that was activated first. -
Considering what they've been able to pull off with a whip in the Demon Summoning attack powers, I think we're a lot closer to having a full Whip set, to be honest. But for that matter, most folks were expecting Dual Pistols to be a slightly modified version of the Thugs set Pistol attacks, not a completely new full set of attacks and animations.

I like seeing the bubbles that let you know someone's typing. Don't care what it says, just as long as it's there.
I've apparently grown accustomed to players who can keep up a pretty fast paced level of banter and emote actions. Keeps things lively.
Also, adaptable players. RP PuGS can be incredibly fun. So a merc, a demon, a robot, a catgirl, and costumed villain are out to bust heads. Just roll with it. Spontaneity -can- lead to just as much entertainment as the plot you've spend weeks working on. -
Quote:I posted a similar thread a few months ago. I would go into lvl 30 or less zones, and use the search function, and find 10 players or less, none looking to team. And call me crazy, but if someone has a flag up that they don't want to team, and they don't have any note contradicting that, I don't PM them about joining a team. The little bulbs next to Virtue on the server select list are always yellow or red, but I barely see anyone wandering around in the Rogue Isles, where is everyone?
And I was basically told I was wrong and there were players all over the place. So I went back to Praetoria.
Anyway, I have a few theories from my experience.
-With all the Incarnate silliness, I still think a lot of players are dusting off their 50's to farm for that crap.
-A lot of players are still starting out in Praetoria then rushing through the content, presumably to go blueside.
-Atlas has sewer teams, but KR is dead. Steel Canyon used to be a hotspot, but that's shifted to Talos because of players running Tip missions.
-Same thing with Cap, what activity there is seems to have shifted to Sharkhead for Tip missions.
-Mercy and Oakes have always been dead. Same with Nerva. I haven't been in Martial or Grandville much over the past few months.
-Normally I don't go to the RWZ or Cimerora, can't help you there.
-And as I'm told for whatever ungodly reason, a -lot- of players just stay on hide all the time. *shrug* -
Quote:Not familiar with AC2, but the "progress" thing about Bruce and Gotham actually is one of the things that bugs me about Batman.Threads like this remind me that, sadly, probably the best Batman continuity they could make with definitive progress being shown in Batman's crusade would end up a lot like Assassin's Creed II: Brotherhood...
Look at all the time, money, and effort he's sunk into protecting Gotham and trying to make it a better place. Has he made any progress? For all his reputation and how much thugs are supposed to be terrified of "the Bat" they're still in Gotham, aren't they?
Unless Gotham is supposed to be Bruce's own personal hell that he can never actually fix. I remember reading something about a story that either alluded to or specifically said there was some mystical reason as to why Gotham is so utterly corrupt to it's core. Did anything like that ever make it in canon?
Now I understand that publishing reasons of why Gotham can't be cleaned up, but considering how, for the most part, they build on what's happened previously, it sure as hell seems that Bruce isn't helping anything and Gotham's actually -worse- off for all Bruce's done. -
That's a shame. TV shows just don't get enough time to work the kinks out anymore. Especially niche shows. And even if they -are- pretty good from the beginning, like Firefly, they STILL don't get more than a freaking season.
-
Though I still don't understand why only "classic" villains can be considered, if that is the case, then wouldn't Darkseid be disqualified from Superman's Rogues Gallery because he was originally a New Gods villain?
Quote:How is Bane "old money" rich? He grew up in prison because his father wasn't around to serve the sentence.Penguin, Hush, Bane, R'as al Ghul, Black Mask, and a few others are all "old money" Rich.
Does Ra's still control the League of Assassins? If so, I think having a personal army and your beck and call would have to count for something against Bruce only having the Bat Family. -
The show needs more of Fleming's special kind of crazy and the Carnival in general. Faraday's angsting and his creepy kid are dragging the whole boat down, imho.
