For that matter I do genuinely wonder if the well changes the person that drinks it, IE a good person could be made a villain and an utter monster could be made a shining hero with the well. That's been one fan theory, that Cole poses both the incarnations of Zeus and Tartarus.

My theory is that Hamidon has possession of it.

As for alternate recluses, I think part of the problem is that his art assets are so unique. Obviously not every incarnation of him would have the spider motif, but with Statesman it's a -lot- easier to just switch around the costume to be a similar motif.

actually that's something that's kind of curious. Through all the Portal Corps missions exploring all the alternate earths, there was never an Arachnos dominated one. Circle of Thorns, Freakshow, Banished Pantheon, Crey, plenty of others, but we've never seen any other world with Arachnos.

I don't see them ever changing that.

Bringing forth a different dimension Stefan? Sure. We need some balance to this overabundance of Statesman ubermenschen Bring Praetorian Stefan's rotten carcass (possibly skeleton by now ) out of its resting place? Un-bloody-likely.
Actually they've made comments, right around the Player Summit I think, that cast a possibility that he may not be dead-dead. Though they did say solidly that someone -else- is the Incarnation of Tartarus in Praetoria, we just dunno who.

But ya, I've kind of wondered that a bit myself. We see all these different Statesmen running around but have yet to see an alt. dimension Recluse. Or if we have, we had no idea it was him.

I can't help that you have no taste

And Time Lord Victorious and the suicide were just god awful stupidity. All he had to do was go ANYWHERE BUT EARTH and there would have been no conflict, no need for all the ham and drama at the end. Also the gaping -gaping- plothole of someone finding a body with no explanation and that somehow keeps the timeline intact. Yeah, no. Bloody awful.

And ya, End of Time had huge flaws, in fact I really disliked Part 1 until I saw Part 2 and for whatever reason it clicked better for me with all the references and the heroic final moments and the rather heart string tugging (though overly long) goodbye scene. But a lot of the characters were hammy or just outright silly, the actual climax was pretty decently epic and well acted, if only failed because it resorted back to Davies failsafe 'magic button' ploy. It's not perfect but I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than the Waters of Mars, which I can't even sit through now.

I will say 10's final moments probably make me dislike Davies more than anything though. I've never seen an author so thoroughly torture and punish a character.
  5. Never walk into an obvious trap or you'll pay for it.
  6. honestly you don't even need to see Waters of Mars, the important bits are only right at the end and mostly just a slight teaser. Also some of the most hamfisted and awful writing I've even seen in the show.

But definitely see End of Time, that was a fairly fantastic one and the most important to see for the transition/send off.

Quite possibly that could be considered a fate worse then death. All their hatred and attempts to destroy each other, and what is left? A desolate planet, the human race gone.....
Welcome to Nemesis' reason for coming back as Mender Silos.
  8. I've got a dual blade/invulnerability scrapper I haven't been that happy with and am thinking of deleting and re-rolling as something else, just not all that thrilled with Dual Blades. The combo system is ok, but so far it's the only primary power set I've tried where I just felt like I wasn't that strong.

It's been like that since I started in Issue 3, back in February 2005.
Yeah, highly possible, and needs a revamp. But most of the hazard zones are pretty much ghost towns at this point.

Either way, I think Dark Astoria was the right choice for the revamp, from all the stuff in beta it's looking pretty wicked and definitely something I'm looking forward to going live

It's not really a problem to have normal city zones sharing a look, like Atlas Park and Steel Canyon, or Nova Praetorian and Imperial City, because that's the way a lot of cities really do look - but for somewhere that's become an unusual disaster area, sharing the same visual look as another unusual disaster area doesn't really work so well.
Eden as it stands now is a ruined city destroyed by the devouring earth. A revamp could easily see the DE infestation wholly consuming and transforming the place, removing the last vestiges of human civilization and turning it into a more naturalized 'paradise'. Think how things look closer to The Hive's entrance compared to the Founder's Falls entrance, then just spread it across the entire zone and add some more organic twists like we've seen with the Praetorian Devouring Earth. First Ward is a sort of 'post apoc' feel, I would rather see an Eden revamp transform it into a 'twisted paradise', like add in some really breath taking views, more waterfalls and rock structures and great trees pushing through everything, with maybe only a few small remnants left of the buildings, just a crumbled wall here or there, but otherwise totally lush plant life, etc.
  11. I was thinking Eden. It's pretty much nothing but the gateway to Hamidon and has the trial, otherwise it's a complete ghost town and I could see it becoming an Incarnate zone as an escalation of Hamidon and the Devouring Earth.
  12. I'm okay with the show, it's watchable and gives out a few chuckles, but to me it really seems to reek of executive meddling. Just the way the concept for the show is and how Butch handled Danny Phantom with such a wonderful mix of serious and humorous scenes, I just get the feeling he presented the show differently and it was turned to what it is now, which is just a lot of 'whacky' jokes and antics aimed at a very young audience. Which, is no surprise. People see cartoon critters and they immediately think 'little kids'.

I just think it's a step down from the bar Hartman set with Danny Phantom. It's cute and watchable but it's pretty much purely kiddie comedy without any sort of sly or clever humor for older audiences. It's not as bad as say, Planet Sheen, that caters to the ADD among the wee, but it's just not smart enough to really make me -want- to watch it. Honestly I don't see it lasting that long

It doesn't make much marketing sense anyway. The majority of my toons are male. There is nothing in this pack therefore that I am tempted to buy. And Hey Paragon! If I buy stuff you get money... see how that works? Now you get no dough. Very sad for the bean counters.

Shouldn't be surprised though. Its been 7 years and you still can't even get a cummerbund for the male tuxedo options. When it comes to costume options for guys, there is a surprising dearth of creativity and depth. Its all about the boobs I guess.
Not every item is intended to appeal to every player. There are plenty of players with several female characters these costume options will be great for.

This costume set was also not designed as a costume set initially, it was ported from an existing NPC group that had all the fun bits on the female models and it can't be ported to male/huge, it has to be designed from the ground up which costs time/resources that are more likely spent on actual new content.

There's a surprising amount of wangst going on here.

his dead wife that was Recluse's sister. /discussion.
  16. I have to say I'm disappointed in the devs hyping that the HOW Statesman died when it's just a magic spell. Honestly I found it more interesting that we learned that it was how Imperious and Romulus died, or rather that they died together. If you can boil it down to 'a gun' or 'kryptonite' or 'a really big rock' or similar when you're explaining a death, you probably -don't- want to say the 'how' is really important.

So, ya, I think the spoiling was a major misstep. I think it would've been a huge surprise that the plan actually worked and leaving us wondering up until the end instead of just going on this big 'Yup he's definitely gonna die now'. It wasn't written in a way that still makes an impact if it isn't a surprise. So, sorry guys, you fouled up with this call.

Overall though? I did like it. I like seeing the Signature characters getting some spotlight so that they're actually characters instead of these big cardboard cutouts that hand out missions, especially seeing folks like Indigo and Crimson or the B-lister team, the Vindicators. I tihnk that's probably the best thing about the Signature arcs is we're going to see these characters actually involved in stuff. The more you can show them off the better.

And ya, Statesman's last moments thinking of his wife, etc, were pretty touching.

You realize half the feedback was "We want it for males" and that just isn't possible right? once it hits beta, it's just going to be tweaked to make sure it works, doing something like making it for males when it's ported from an all female NPC group is not something they can just flip a switch and do. They know we want Carnival masks for males, and probably down the line we'll get something similar, but your expectations were just too high if that's what you were hoping for.
  18. Now that I've played at least Heroside of the SSA, I feel it was kind of a mistake to spoil that Statesman was going to die. The 'how' was kind of trumped up a lot and in the end, well, it boils down to 'a magic spell'. A -special- magic spell, but just 'a magic spell' nonetheless, so I feel like a lot of the impact was taken out since I knew he was going to bite it already. It was still a pretty touching scene with his last moments, but the spoiler really robbed it of a lot of the impact I think.

And.. issue 23? Wow. That's quite a ways off, even if its only like 6 months, it's still a real disconnect from how 'big' this event was supposed to be. And it is big but just releasing it piecemeal kind of robs it of a lot of the importance.

As for where I want to see the story go? Well, for one, time them better. You have a rough idea of when issues are going to come out, pending disasters in testing, and you know you'll be releasing these things monthly, so, try to line them up so you avoid exactly this where we have a 'monumental event' that affects the whole game world but we have to wait for that event a good half year or more to actually affect the game world, even when the event itself happens -now-.

And I kind of think 7 months is just a little too long to play out a plot like this. I mean -this- one is pretty epic, yeah, and deserves build up and showcasing the different characters, etc. But I think in general the SSAs would serve better in 4-5 chunks, especially if they're this game changing that they can affect the game world at large, so you can time them better to line up with Issue releases.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to maybe switch up the arc lengths from episode to episode either. 3 is a good standard, but 'surprise' us once in a while, like just a 4th mission every now and again, maybe 5 for 'extra important' plots, otherwise it gets a little too formulaic with the dance of 'Hook, Set up, Climax' that all of them are so far.
  19. Well what are you looking for in terms of a buff/heal? The easiest thing I'd recommend is just figure what you want out of the pet and then go hunting through the wiki. If you check the specific ability it shows you what the pets have available to use, like so:

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Arachn..._Improved_Ally

So the Fortunata pet gives you Mind Link (+ACC, Perception, Defense) and Soothe Ally, a single target heal.

Compare to say, the Immunes Surgeon from the Cimerorans

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Cimero..._Improved_Ally

And you get healing aura and a single target heal, so they're -just- healers.

    or like the Rikti Guardian

    http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Rikti_Radial_Ally

With the Rad heal (PBAoE) and Accelerated Metabolism.

And so on and so forth. So just figure what heals/buffs sound good to you.
  20. he dies anyway so... ya who cares? cheer when he gets evaporated.

  23. You can play tourist, but it's pretty limited to teaming with heroes, Newspaper missions, and tips. You can only do paragon contacts if you're hero/vigilante, and rogue island contacts if you're villain/rogue.

And, yeah, I agree with Goblin. The Villain/hero powers blow the rogue/vigilante powers out of the water. They should at least have comparable duractions, a 6 second confuse is -slightly- handy, but nothing compared to 30 seconds of +DMG/ACC. Oh yeah and then there's the fear power. lol.
