Quote:According to your sig you're on Virtue so you might want to check the Virtue Raid schedule:I don't understand how it starts, I mean. If I were to run to the Hive, the place is usually completely empty.

As Chad said you need a bunch of people in zone killing Monsters to start the raid so the easiest way to start one is to come at the same time as everyone else. -
I seem to recall one of the devs commenting once before that the problem with this is that the game doesn't really differentiate between Buffs and Debuffs. Making an option to remove buffs without allowing people to remove debuffs would be a problem.

Well you can check the market but I doubt any of them are worth much. Most of the sets are debuff/mez sets which aren't popular enough to be valuable. Kismet is a Defense set which are generally more valuable but Kismet itself isn't that popular and the particular IO (End/Rech) isn't going to be to popular since most defense powers are toggles.
The Reactive Armor IO is a decent IO in a semi-popular set but level 19 is a bit low, most people opt to slot IOs either in the 30-33 range or at the max for the set. You could potentially slot it in Mind Over Body if you want. As a level 19 it's slightly less effective than an even level SO but unlike SOs it'll remain the same until 50 (it provides about 45.6% of the effectiveness of an SO to two different attributes so overall it's about 91% as effective as a single SO). However, if you were planning to take that route I'd read Fulmen's guide on Frankenslotting and do it properly. -
Quote:As an extension of this, one thing another MMO did when it went F2P was give people who maintained a subscription a certain amount of free purchases in their store. In other words, suppose it was possible to quantify the amount of work within the average issue to date, and lets say its something like 10 man months of development time. If the F2P conversion ends up giving me 8 man months of content for my sub and the rest is ala carte, I would rightly think I was subsidizing the free players: that would be a worse value proposition than what I'm getting now. On the other hand, if after the F2P conversion I end up getting 12 man months of content, and then *on top of that* there's an additional 3 man months of content that is ala carte that is released in the same interval of time, on the one hand to get *everything* I would have to pay more. But I'm getting more game for what I was paying before, which means I'm better off. If we're talking about the intelligent choice the intelligent choice is to pick the choice that gives the most value for the money. Abandoning an MMO that goes F2P without knowing for certain which situation you're in isn't intelligent: its a knee-jerk reaction without foundation.
So to take your analogy it might work out that having a sub gives you 10 man-months of development effort automatically. then in addition there is another 5 man-months of effort put in the store but you can select some portion of that as part of your sub fee. -
Quote:IMHO the only way to make a major base update relevant to the majority of the player base is to do it as part of a individual housing update. So what do you propose they do to make bases updated and worthwhile? How would a large percentage of the playerbase benefit from a massive amount of work pulled from other projects like new content, costumes, powers, etc. and dedicated to bases? I'm kind of curious.
One of the key selling points of CoX as always been the ability to make a visually unique character and character housing would seem like the next logical step in that allowing players to specify not only how their character looks but how and where they live.
Decoupling the base building system from the supergroup system (and more importantly the need to worry about funds) would allow people who wanted to to spend the time and effort to make a personalized "home" for their character. -
Quote:And look how badly the PvP revamp went down. It was an attempt to make PvP more relevant to the rest of the players and ended up just killing PvP entirely. How much effort went into PvP which is also a very small percentage of the player base? They even made new Recipes with special PvP effects.
As for new recipes, implementing a new set of IO recipes is a LOT easier than making a new base editor. -

Quote:The streak breaker means that is an entity misses enough times in a row they get a guaranteed hit.Streak breaker? I can guess on what you mean by this just given what it's called, but I'm hoping I'm not about to find out there's a mechanic in the game that goes "this guy is living way too long, lets drop his defense to crap for the next attack?"

The other thing to keep in mind is economies of scale. Often times the buy it now price for the crafted enhancement is about the same as the buy it now price for recipe + salvage. When I craft enhancements for sale I do so in stacks of 10 which makes it a lot more cost efficient to bid overnight for the ingredients which isn't the case with when buying single enhancements for slotting.

PGT is a bit weird.
When the trap first goes off it applies a single, short hold to all enemies in range (this hold has to make a hit roll even though PGT cannot take accuracy enhancements). After that the gas cloud remains for 30 seconds which will once a second apply a regeneration debuff and have a 2% chance of applying an additional short hold.
Now in general the primary usage of PGT is really the regeneration debuff against AVs. The usage of the core power against normal enemies is not as good. What I do is jump into the middle of a group and place the Trap. That way the entire group gets hit by the first hold which provides some benefit. I also recommend putting in a Lockdown Hold Proc, that provides an additional change to hold during the rest of te duration so you get quite a bit more effectiveness. -
The main proc you want on a Trapper is the chance to hold proc in Poison Gas Trap. Placing the Achilles Heel and/or Hold procs in Acid Mortar are also good options.
Seeker Drones can also take a chance to hold proc but it doesn't seem to work properly.
Some people like to stack damage procs in Caltrops but I've never been convinced that it's worth the slots.
Procs in your Secondary will depend on your choice of secondary. -
Honestly it's up to you. Some people like to simply shelve their 50s and start a new character so that is always an option.
If you want to keep playing your 50 there are a few things you can do to keep increasing their power:
1. IOs
2. Incarnate
3. Accolades
In general I'd recommend working on all three as you wish to. I would, at the very list, run Mender Ramiel's Arc to unlock the Alpha slot so that you can make incarnate progress (through acquiring Incarnate Shards) while doing other content.
If you intend to play a character for a long time it's worth getting the useful accolade powers (for a Dom the only one that isn't useful is the Immobilizer Ray).
Now the other issue is IOs versus Incarnates. My advice is to work on the one that you find more enjoyable. Try the BAF and Lambda Trials, if you like them keep running to work on your incarnate abilities. If you find you prefer the smaller TFs or soloing then you can do that and earn inf/merits towards IOs while also making some progress on an alpha slot ability. -
You can use the following as a bind or macro:
/bind <key> "follow$$powexecname <power name>" -
Thanks for the trade. Now I just need to finish leveling my Crab so he can actually use it.

If I were fixing it I'd do three things:
1. Change the avg wait time to only include people who actually wait (i.e. discard any times less than, say, 10 seconds)
2. Provide some "league formation controls" such as min-max size, an "I will lead" tag and a "locked league" control
3. Provide an incentive (i.e. better rewards) to encourage people to enter the queue solo or in small teams. -
Quote:I had a similar issue on one of my characters when a email transaction did not complete properly (claiming inf when at the inf cap). The excess inf was held in limbo until I reduced his on hand inf low enough for it to pop into his inventory. When I try and claim an item from my email or send an email it saids my inventory is full and it saids "There are outstanding pending global email transactions. Please wait a minute and try again." This is happening on more than one of my toons on my global
You might try doing that, an easy way to reduce inf is to place a very bid on the Gladiators Armor +3% def IO, there no risk of it filling and it take s it out of inventory. -
This is the core problem really. What percentage of the players do you think ever use the base editor? Of that group what percentage do you think really use it beyond the minimum to get a functional base with a small amount of decoration?
The problem is that improving base editing is likely a huge amount of work (based on comments the devs have made) which provides value for a relatively small fraction of the player base. -
I really hope more publisher's will follow the path of Baen Books and start having free E-Book versions of their books given out with the physical books. This way I can have a shelf full of phsical books and still read them on my computer when it's convenient.

Well the fix to the fix will almost certainly go live on Tuesday but the fix to the fix to the fix might be a bit longer since if it were simple I'd have expected it to be included in the fix to the fix.
-
It shouldn't but on the other hand the -res is pretty weak compared to the DoT. I'd probably take one of the other interfaces over the pure -res one if I were concerned about sleep.

Quote:Eh, I've never really got this attitude. It was a silly promise to make on Jack's part but it's also the sort of promise that I as a player would never believe anyway. This is an MMO, powers will always change, if the dev team is competent they will change for the better.I'm also including those who would go "Hey, remember the "We're not changing powers again" from jack? You did it again." /quit. And there are some who would do it on principle.
Now people might disagree with the dev team as to what constitutes "better" but that's another story. To me "better" means improving the balance. If a power is over-performing then, yes, it needs to be nerfed and ideally sooner rather than later.
Quote:I personally may not go that far - but it would possibly lead to that end for me, as that sort of change would make some of my favourite characters very un-fun.
