There is *no* penalty for 're-draw' animations. The cast times will be exactly the same whether you have to redraw a weapon or not.
This was recently in the 'Myth thread' in the general forum.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even if there is no actual "penalty" to redrawing, there can be a high annoyance factor where it feels like there is a penalty even if there is no difference in the attacks.
And I would also like to see actual numbers from a Dev or Arcanaville before making a flat statement that there isn't any redraw penalty.
EDIT to Add:
I think this type of guide is what is missing recently. Too many times we see "guides" that are really just builds without any sense of how the powerset actually "feels" during play. Numbers are all well and good, but knowing that Psychic feels different from Fire due to things like the comparative number of ST attacks vs AoEs is missing from a guide that just tells you to take X attack at Y level and slot it thus and so.
I agree with Fulmens that adding a bit more info regarding "Aim" and the various color-effect names it goes by and how much damage boost it adds might be a good addition/clarification. While most of us here already know it adds such a nice damage boost, at first glance it only seems to be about adding "to Hit". -

Arcanaville had a post obout this topic a while back, but it must have gotten purged.
I thought that her study results indicated that (other than HEATs & VEATs, eliminated because they weren't available to all players as unlockables), the lowest population of any AT was Dominators, although I think those were followed by Stalkers & Tankers.
And I took Castle's recent attention to Doms as an indication that they were pretty unpopular and could use a boost to help make them more popular. -

There seems to be a majority of agreement
And if you say things like
1) inspirations ftw
2) build with IOs
3) lower your difficulty
then you are in agreement
So where do we go from here?
I doubt raising damage will help- there are already some monster builds out there
Adding defensive powers would take away from the original intent of the design
Changing pool power values seems to be a good idea to expand upon
There was quite a bit of dialogue already about the inherent leading to the change, and while attacking when mezzed helped immeasurably, the damage bonus is lacking (what I meant when I said I wouldn't miss it)
Be nice to see some more positive input

You also can't make your comparisons in the dark. Who is playing these other ATs you mention? My Energy/Energy/Force blapper out performs and out survives most of the people I team with except for a few stone tanks. That blaster has a full set of IOs (none of which add defense or resistance) but do the rest of the players? What is their experience level?
When defiance 2.0 was getting tested several of the things you bring up were mentioned. The biggest blaster killer was determined to be mez. The devs "cured" this by allowing the blaster to use 3 attacks while mezzed.
Inspirations are called blaster candy for good reason. One of the other things sited by the players in defiance 2.0 testing was a blaster's defense is the inspiration tray but we never had the right mix of insps dropping. Shortly after the release of I11 we got combining 3 like insps to make a different one. I don't think that was for tanks or scrappers do you? It did spill over onto the other ATs but "most" of my other non-blaster toons rarely need to use insps.
No toggle drop on mez was also mainly for the blaster (and because Castle hated toggle drops but hadn't found the code to prevent them prior to that) blasters that spent their time defeated or retoggling couldn't do their jobs properly which was dealing damage. Another change mainly for blasters that spilled over onto other ATs.
The last round of debt nerfs probably was another thing to solve blaster problems since the goal of defiance 2.0 was to allow blasters to accumulate rewards as fast as other ATs, not to make them less squishy. The one thing the devs didn't do was make them any less squishy and I believe that was one of their goals with the changes they did make.
XP smoothing was also probably a blaster buff that spilled over onto other ATs as well.
The devs went where they did because they thought that more would be overpowered and, except for a bit here or there, they would be. Once you learn positional awareness on a blaster if you translate that to any other AT you are vastly overperforming compared to say a leroy scrapper.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am pretty much in agreement with Miladys_Knight here that many of the global changes of recent times benefitted blasters perhaps a bit more than the other ATs when taken all together. I think that because the changes were incremental, it's easy to overlook the total difference they have made in playing a Blaster. When I look back now, it's sometimes hard to remember what playing a Blaster back in I4 or I5 felt like (other than the sheer adrenaline rush of it, LOL).
While I agree with Ipso that we as players don't have numbers to back up either position (and also grant that forum posters can't be even close to a valid statistical sample of the player population at large), I think that M_K's position that most of the issues with Blasters have been addressed. Perhaps there is an educational curve yet to be navigated in demonstrating how Inspiration Combination is so useful or the change to mezzes no longer dropping toggles has been probably more useful to ATs who get mezzed the most often. But I do think those changes have already addressed some of Bruise_Missile's positions regarding Blasters.
P.S. Bruise - use of Inspirations in an intended behavior, please stop using it as evidence of some sort of failure.
P.P.S. - I am so sigging the part of the Knight's post I bolded, it expresses my own postion that learning the game on a Blaster gives you the best foundation for the rest of the game. -

You know what should really happen? The game should drop its subscription down to $10 a month. That way we could all spend $5 a month more on gambling.

Does it have to be gambling ? Why not adult entertainment...

Nah, I want to spend my $5 to pay my brother to do my housekeeping chores.... -
Nor can you "merge" SGs to my knowledge.
Sure, you can have all of one SG quit that one and join and join the other, but all the first SGs Prestige & Base are lost. The closest we currently have is the Coalitions system.
Also, I think to help answer your "question behind the question" - if you were relying on an active SG for team building, I suggest you join your server's global badging/teaming channel or one of the cross-server special intrest groups like TheMarket or BaseBuildersInc. SG Coalitions can also be used for team formation. -

OK, Bucky - Your point seems to be that if the Devs made vehicles as a separate paid-for add on, they might do it? That there is some price for this add on that would make it worth their while to spend development time (at the expense of lots of others things BTW)?
What price tag would you put on it? Current booster packs cost us $10. I'm fairly sure that there would need to be a hella lot of boosters sold to pay for the development time at that rate, so that's probably not the pricing point.
OK, then what if the pricing is $20? $30? $50? Now we are getting up to the price range that you would be just as well off going to another game to have your cars and motorcycles, but based on what we, the players, know about how the engine works, I'm not even sure how many $50 booster packs it would take to cover the development costs.
What people have been saying is "Sure it can be done, if everything is rebuilt" but I don't want dev time spent on that massive an undertaking that will likely not even break even at the expense of new content, new zones, etc.
It's OK to dream, but NCSoft is a business, and will make its development time decisions based on what can be budgetted for in terms of how many units can be sold vs. development costs.
Rebuilding parts of the game engine for fluff doesn't seem like the business decision any rational business would make without lots of assurance it would pay off - which based on the general tone of these threads over the past 5 years, seems unlikely to happen. -

I had a similar idea for a character but when I went to look for the Skull Mask (yes, I checked Detail 1 up and down) it wasn't there.
I don't think females have access to the Skull Mask, a little trade off for having access to that kool Bolero with fur which Male and Huge models don't get.
Edit: You can always use the Skull small mask (looks great with the Bonehead face) or the Skull face in it's place.
[/ QUOTE ]
Correct, not available for Females. Neither is the cool greatcoat, although the nifty bolero is almost recompense enough. -

When I recently made my Force Field / Dark Blast Defender, I started him off in Galaxy City. I made sure to do all of her missions, and then went to do some radio missions in Kings Row. His original Galaxy City contact is still listed as an active contact.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not sure about the rest of them - but you say you did the GC stuff, but then went to do radios in KR? In other words, you never took and met a contact from GC that sent you anywhere else - either to Wincott or some of the other 5-10 contacts, like HPWong or Tony Kord or Linda Summers?
The fact that your initial contact was not given a chance to introduce you to the next one is why he/she is still active. And once you get that intro to a 5-10 contact, the new contact will introduce you to 10-15 and so on, all the way up through to your current level.
I actually kinda like seeing them in my active contacts because it reminds me that I have a string of contacts that I could be picking up - although starting in GC and working all the way through them is tedious. -

On my other account it was because the Mods pulled my title and thus it was left blank.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh, yeah that's what I meant--the forum titles. Sorry, I should have clarified that.
So, it's because you have a second account? Interesting. So does that mean (and I don't mean to get too personal here) that if I get a second account, the same thing will happen to me?
[/ QUOTE ]
No - the forum title is usually based on the number of posts - OP, your forum title is "Trainee".
For some people, the moderators have given out additional or substitute titles, such as "FF Guru", or "P.E.R.C. Rep" based on contributions to the forum community.
Philly's having a second account has ZERO to do with these titles and is very specific to her situation. The title for your second account would depend on how much you post on that one as opposed to the one you used for this thread. -
[ QUOTE ]
Hi, I'm sort of confused by this... I've seen some people without "titles" under their name and was wondering about this. Does it mean the person's, like, very special or something?
(sorry if it has been asked and answered, I looked but didn't find anything)
[/ QUOTE ]
The "Title" under the name is a badge name.
A "Title" over the name is a slected title that becomes available at level 16 (first word) and 26 (second word) and is chosen by going to the trainer. The available words are somewhat determined by origin.
A "yellow" title (over the character name) is given out by Devs, most typically at an event. That's the only one that's kinda "special". For example, during the anniversary event on April 28, some of the Devs and Community Reps were handing them out to everyone they saw participating in the event that day. Those titles lasted for a month and are gone now, I think. -
<QR>
You have overthought the issue. Renames have long been available for a charge.
My level 41 defender (who I created back in 2005) had had at least 4 different names during her career so far as my perception of her changed.
On the Character Select screen, you can buy a Rename Token for $9.99. I advise checking to see if the desired new name is available before the purchase, since the Rename is used immediately upon logging in with the character getting the change. -
Some items found in the base editor can be used to stack other items on.
First, there was the Magic Desk. You can always place items on desks.
After I13, other items became useful for stacking - primarily floor safes, one of the lamps and the floor tile.
Other items push out from the walls - a different one of the lamps and the cubicle mainly.
There are guides stckied at the top of the Base Construction forums, along with many examples - go check them out. It can be a bit more involved than can be quickly answered here in PQ.

Item Heights & Stacking Stairs

One other quick point - if you invent them, they are only good for THAT CHARACTER and if you want them on your next character, you will have to invent them again on that character.
The other methods (be a 15-month vet or purchase the Valkyrie pack/Mac edition) will alllow you to build all your characters with those wings. -

You do not need a Robotic Fabricator to make the Worktable function. It is meant to be used to repair Workshop items damaged in a Base Raid. Since raiding is currently turned off - it's a nifty decor items for right now.

I had them scattered throughout one of the bases I did, as though they were the robotic assistants of the character in charge of the base's maintenance. They cost 100 prestige/month per Fabricator, but the effect was pretty cool I thought.
The Maker of Artifacts' LegendBots were everywhere. We probably had a dozen or so roaming about in that base, IIRC. Using 1x2 workshops as hallways allowed me to place them in lots of places, as though they were always moving things about.

You also can invent a Robotic Fabricator on your Tech Worktable.

If I were him, that's exactly what I would be concerned about, SB - that if I give SL status to the OP, all my work done in the absence of the player who went inactive for some period of time would disappear and I would be kicked to the curb.
Especially light of OP's use of the unfortunate word "misapproriated" to talk about the normal action of the game to pass the SG leadership to the active member and keep it there unless the active member decides to pass it on (either by clicking the promote button or going inactive himself). Nothing was "misappropriated", although something was abandoned by the OP.
Email the guy in-game and start a discussion, but don't start from a position that he has taken something of yours from you.
BTW - this situation of needing to send messages to someone who is not on at the same time as you is exactly why I don't want the Devs to get rid of the email system, spammy as it is. How would we communicate in such a situation without it? -

jranger was a poster infamous for answering nigh ANY thread with the single word answer "no". no explanation, etc.
It became so common, other posters adopted "/jranger" as a trendy to say "no" while also implying the topic wasn't worthy of further discussion.
Mod8 made a thread about not using such responses, so now we can only use it as part of a longer post supporting or refuting an idea (mainly in S&I). I can't find that thread now, though.
Another poster who became infamous in a different way is "power" who is known for incoherent "suggestions" that are pretty hard to follow due to a nigh complete lack of grammar and spell-checking. We can't use his name to ridicule posts/threads either, but we did for a while with "/power" meaning basically "huh?!"
