    Can you use Burst in Hide, which crits, and then use CS (which also crits) - like with Elec Melee and the LR + TS combo?
  3. I think if you can chain your AoE powers together, maybe with the odd Blaze, then that's "enough" AoE. However over-the-top isn't going to hurt but I'm not a fan of Psy Scream or the Soul Tentacles.

  5. More defence is better than more regen IMO, and Heat Loss on a 15 second downtime is completely manageable if you ask me, but hey, it's probably just personal preference. Don't get me wrong though, I do like Perspective's build, I was just simply altering it and giving some feedback to see if he liked any of the changes I'd made.

    I'll also second Fiery-Enforcer's suggestion of SS + CJ, I have it on most of my characters and it really is great.

    EDIT: And Inferno is one of the best nukes out there for upfront damage.

  9. Not really, you can softcap SL a Fire/Kin and still pretty easily get 70/80% recharge into the build without too much effort. 50% at least without purples.

  11. I think he does realize, its just that AoE defence arguably isn't as important to cap as ranged and melee. Of course for a build with no budget and an aim for maximum surviavbility you are going to want to cap your defence.

    As has it has been said previously in the post, I would probably cap my AoE defence too, and then go for recharge/recovery. I was simply helping the Dread with his build, while keeping the budget relatively low.

    EDIT: For reference, I threw this build together in planning for my SS/SD Brute, who is only 34 currently.

  12. To Dread, it will be cheaper I reckon, but not if you keep those Kinetic Combats in. You're aiming for positional defence with /Shield and KC's primarily give you typed, and they'll probably cost North of 300 Mill for a set of 4. (w/o the proc). They also don't give great enhancment values.

    So I made some changes to give you some better enhancement values out of Punch and Haymaker, and kept you at the same recharge. You also went way over on ranged defence so I took that down a little bit and gave you some more AoE, which is always nice.

  14. It might sound rude, but I would probably make a secondary build with the shields in just for when you team, they really are great.

    Otherwise, I like the concept and can't see why you'd run into any problems. I have a Cold at 50 which I use *a lot* and it's great fun, so good luck and if you need any help with a build, just shout.
  15. I use CTRL + (Number) and ALT + (Number) for all my powers. Then I create a fourth tray for Ouro, and all my vet powers and anything else that I don't use very often. (Walk, etc.)
  16. I'm sure someone more specific with the numbers will come along, but I'm pretty sure the chain is:

    Blaze ---> Havoc Punch ---> Charged Brawl.

    And you need about ~120% global recharge + Hasten to achieve that. Sorry if I'm inaccurate or totally wrong.

    So I imagine your WP, any damage taken that doesn't exceed the HP that High Pain Tolerance gives won't count towards the damage badges. And any IO bonuses/accolades.

    2) Yeah it's good for SL defence, but it doesn't really matter whether you use it or not tbh.

    3) Yep, some people do love that animation.

    4) Good to see this game has so much variety, I think you will have your hands full with your ST blasts, Frost Breath, and Psychic Shockwave (which is your best AoE IMO), but each to their own so good for you. Psy Scream also looks really cool when you change around the colours.

    5) Putting in the proc from the Positron's Blast set, (Chance for Energy) instead of the Dam/End piece still maxes you out on damage (95% after ED) but gives you less end redux which you shouldn't be worried out anyway with Drain Psyche up most of the time. Hope that makes it a bit clearer.

    DM/Fire?

    Yeah DM/Fire is a fun combination with 2 Heals, 2 End recoveries etc. However it still won't be able to tank AVs easily in the late game like the Granites and Invuls will be able to do.

    DM is also quite ST focused so it's not a popular farming set. DM isn't great in PvP atm either, iirc but that is by no means my area of expertise. All I hear is lolmelee.

    However the above points are no reason not to make one. I'm sure it could be very powerful in the late game with some good defence/recharge/max HP from IOs. If you need help with a build I'd be happy to help.
  22. My DP/Kin is great fun, and I will probably end up playing it a lot at 50. HoB + FS really is fun - it does respectable damage and fun to watch!

    However, don't expect it to be the new Fire Blast numbers-wise. (Or Ice or Rad or [Insert any other Blast set])

  23. Hey Janus, sorry about the late reply!

    Well I had a look at your build for you, and made quite a lot of changes, hopefully for the better!

    1) I noticed you went for a lot of Max HP bonuses, and with the accolades you cap your HP without the need of Hoarfrost, so that power isn't really necessary.

    2) I tried to give you some more S/L defence using a few Kinetic Combats, so I used them in Mind Probe and Telekinetic Thrust. You have 32% S/L defence which is nice as you can pop a purple insp and be softcapped. Mind Probe is a decent ST attack aswell.

    3) I originally took out BFR for Mind Probe but then I swapped it out for Hoarfrost, and put some Hami-O's in it for you so it still should be decent. I also put the Lockdown quad in your Freeze Ray to make the numbers a little better. Personally, I would just drop BFR since I find the animation too long and whatever I'm trying to hold should be dead in a few seconds anyway. Freeze Ray is more useful since the animation is quick and good for soloing I guess.

    4) I swapped Hasten in for Psychic Scream. Blizzard is one of my favourite nukes and I would want that coming back as fast as possible. You should also be able to avoid the end debuff that it givies with an end-mod slotted, fully saturated Drain Psyche. (IIRC). Hasten also obviously helps out alot with Drain Psyche, Hibernate, and all your other attacks.

    5) I swapped the Posi procs in for the Dam/End piece as you shouldn't be having any end problems with Drain Psyche up most of the time.

    Concerning cost, the Kinetic Combats will set you back a fair bit, but I avoided the Basilisk's Gaze quad.

    I wasn't sure what your budget was so I didn't slot purples (except for the Apoc proc

    Rad - Trigger AM, lay down your debuffs then pew pew.

    Sonic - Put on buffs, blast away.

    And to an extent, Kin. SBs, FS, Siphon Speed then kill stuff.

    Plant/Cold

    First of all, I like the build Enots and I think Plant/Cold with that sort of defence will be just fine. I made a few slotting changes though and one power choice that you might want to consider, though nothing major.

    1) I picked up the shield instead of RotP. With Tough, you have 60% Smashing/Lethal Res. which sounds pretty good to me.

    2) Took away one of the procs in CC, as I think maxing out both damage an recharge is more important.

    3) Moved the Ragnaroks into Fireball as I think that will benefit more than Sleet, and the KD proc will come to use. I left Sleet with Posi's as the recharge values aren't too important with the global recharge packed into your build. (Still easily perma).

    4) You don't need the KB prot from the Gladiator's Armor (due to BotZ) so I just put a Ribosome in for better Res/End.

    It's all quite minor, but I hope some of it helps.

    EDIT: The only other thing I would suggest is when Arctic Fog gets fixed, to give SL defence, maybe think about softcapping your SL defence with the Ice Epic. Two rain powers would be pretty cool, and still thematic.
