Dark Blast/Cold...getting closer to Blackstar

I was wondering how this power would function as a panic button, especially when I'm able to cope with the -recovery with heat loss. The massive -tohit should pretty much disable any spawn, especially if I decide to pursue power boost from soul mastery. Has anyone ever experimented with blackstar not as a nuke, but as a utility power?

Thanks for the input.

The -tohit on it is indeed massive. While the damage isn't that great compared to other nukes, I wouldn't relegate it to just a panic button.

If you've got a huge Heat Loss to counter the -rec the spawn is gonna be really res debuffed, throw Sleet in the mix and Blackstar is still going to do serious damage.

I'd use it as both.

I skipped Black star. Yes, the -to hit is massive but the damage and the fact that I lose all endurance is not pretty. I just don't like "true nukes" on Corruptor as our secondary is very useful. The only true nuke I would take is Blizzard but it's just me.

Dark Blast also doesn't have Aim.

I took it for fun for a while and then respec out. I save those slots for something else like Life Drain.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Blackstar, A.K.A. the dark fart, is a substandard nuke.

Sure, it gives you some front loaded AoE damage and a hefty accuracy debuff, but when all is said and done I'd rather have my endurance bar if solo or share the kill credit when teamed.

As Jibikao indicated, a less situational power might be a better pick.

As Silas said, how bad can it be with Heat Loss and Sleet applied before?

I don't believe a +Recovery buff from Heat Loss will prevent the initial End crash of the nuke, and it's that crash that makes the power not worth it to me.

I have a Dark/Cold at 50, and have the nuke. However, that was in my own opinion a mistake. I don't have anymore vet specs and am too poor to buy a respec recipe right now, so I took it out of my tray and don't think about it anymore. The -ToHit is good and all, but you're a Corruptor and really shouldn't be taking the brunt of the aggro anyway, if you have a good brute on your team. All you should be worried about are a few stray NPCs that the brute missed. With sets, it's fairly easy to get your defense high enough that you don't need to worry about them anyway. I'd drop the nuke and get something that would be more useful, honestly. :/

Thanks guys. I haven't done any of the respec trials and I still haven't used any vet respecs so I think I'll give it a shot. If I don't like it then ah well.
