Fire/Cold Corruptor Build

Hey guys,

I'm just coming back after another break, and decided to take a look at a fire/cold corruptor. Mostly, it'll be used for TFs/SFs after Going Rogue. It's been a while since I've made a corruptor, so I wanted to see what you guys all thought. I went for S/L defence, and high recharge mostly. It ends up with 41% S/L (after Arctic Fog is fixed), and enough recharge to get Benumb down to 35seconds recharge, and hasten near perma. It is going to be expenssive, but I have some of the "big" IOs stashed away already. As for the rest, I like having something to work towards.

Any advice or improvements you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

I think it is a pretty solid build. I personally would take tactics and vengeance over web cocoon and summon disruptor, but the pet can be nice especially since you have enough recharge so it is nearly perma. And the extra recharge IO in RoF, i would move it to an Acc IO in benumb. It only gives you 2 seconds of added recharge, and the acc in benumb is a bit low given its recharge. You want it to for sure hit when you use it.

Solid build, may actually use it for my fire/cold if i ever decide to finish leveling him =/

Ok, I revised the build a bit using some of your advice. I moved a recharge IO from Rain of Fire and a slot from Sleet (dropped the Chance for negative damage), and added both of them to Benumb. I also moved a few slots around, so the larger set bonus's come earlier for exemplaring.

I'm not a huge fan of Vengeance, just becuase it's only useful if someone dies. On my other characters where I've have taken it, I find I'm usually too absorbed in blasting/debuffing to click it before they pop an awaken, or get rezzed by someone else.

Having a look at the build, it looks pretty solid. Always annoys me how Arctic Fog doesn't give typed defence though.

I can look at it a bit closer later if that's alright.

Hehe, sounds great! Then you can basically keep the same recharge in that build, maybe 10% less or so, and get SL softcap.

So assuming that Arctic Fog will give you approximately 6% SL defence, this is what I could come up with for you. 40% Smashing/Lethal Def and a little more recharge too.

Are your power choices set in stone? I personally go Superspeed + Combat Jumping, I think you'd get more use out of that over Hover. You most likely won't have Hover on all the time, so you'll lose the small amount defense from that. Also, I would drop the pet and/or Web Cocoon to pickup Inferno, the crash isn't bad when you have a power like Heat Loss.

In my mids, comparing to the build he already has, somehow even with the greater recharge, most of his powers are coming back sooner in his build. Heatloss in his build has 102.8 second recharge, yours has 105.4. Not sure how that works. Also the added recharge is kind of overkill. You skimped out on recovery and regen, and seeing that he does not have a heal, the more regen the better. Your net recovery is extremely low and heatloss is not going to be the end all solution you think it will. It does help ALOT but it isn't up all the time.

IMO Perspective, I think your build has the edge.

More defence is better than more regen IMO, and Heat Loss on a 15 second downtime is completely manageable if you ask me, but hey, it's probably just personal preference. Don't get me wrong though, I do like Perspective's build, I was just simply altering it and giving some feedback to see if he liked any of the changes I'd made.

I'll also second Fiery-Enforcer's suggestion of SS + CJ, I have it on most of my characters and it really is great.

EDIT: And Inferno is one of the best nukes out there for upfront damage.

Personally, with Aim, Sleet and Infrig, I see no reason why Benumb would really need any more than 1 acc IO (perhaps even none). It's only -really- useful against AVs and in that situation you can properly line up Aim -> Infrig -> Benumb (on top of Sleet being perma if not stacked) every time. That's about as much accuracy as you'll ever need.

Also, do you guys actually use Flares on these high end builds? I can't see that power being useful with 90+% recharge.

I think you've underslotted key powers and took too many powers that are next to useless and slotted them up just for set bonuses.

This build is pricey but I like the look of it. All of the procs makes for an impressive AoE blender.

I like fire breath better than flares. Flares is like a tickle compared to the damage that fire breath does.

Thanks again for the input everyone.

I made a few more tweaks based on what you guys have said. The build now has Softcapped Smashing/Lethal (45% exemped as low as level 41, 40% to 38), 1400 hp, Fire Breath in place of Flares, Vengeance at level 50 which will softcap teamates to all while in use (and I'm not sure if my mids is right on this or not, but aparently may be able to keep up perma so long as there is veng bait about), and a grand total of 161.3% global recharge.

Fire Breath *could* easily (by swapping maneuvers and Fire Breath) be switched out for Inferno for a little more global +rech (3.75%), but I don't think it would be as usefull as Fire Breath for general spawn clearing just because of it's tremendous recharge time.

I *did* keep the pet, just because I'm obsessed with pets. However, depending on what the APP's look like for Corruptors when Going Rogue comes out, I might switch from Mace Mastery to one of them (So long as theres a S/L def shield and Immob of some kind available).
