I see Cloak of Fear on that build as one of those light defense powers (the ones that give around 8% def when slotted), not so much as a fear power. It brings things to the soft cap, turning the something like 10% to hit to a 5% chance, doubling the defense in a way.

It's not really that much a tankery type brute than a scrappery type brute. ST damage, only source of taunt is the energy drain thingamob. But has good defense vs. all but negative energy and psi. which is nice. -
Here's something I cooked up in the lab. Respec build, as usual - emphasis on both Melee and AoE defenses (for PBAoE attacks from melee combatants) Soft-capped defense vs. things in Cloak of Fear range (because it does some 7% tohit debuff to things in range), and quite a lot of bonus to Accuracy to keep the things that need hitting, hitting.

Inv tanks are the ones still standing in a combined group 3 groups of enemies after someone aggroed a few extra mob, while everyone else on the team is heading back from hospital.

Well, kicking god in the balls and walking away isn't really a part of the game, so I have to ask - what do you want to do with your tank? Survive vs. AVs the best while doing as much ST damage as possible? Possibly Stone/Something with purples to complensate for the lack of recharge and damage. Or Willpower/Something with maximised hitpoints and regen rate.

True, He can be KD'd if it's slotted properly. Also, lots of +runspeed enhancement sets, since you can't really "walk away" if you're using a movement power like Superspeed or Teleportation.

Got Burn and Ice Patch to a bit better recharge, added Frozen Aura (with the % of heal proc, since that wouldn't hurt) and dropped Acrobatics, looks better already, thanks

Vengeance is there because people will die, no matter what you do. Someone always screws up and aggros the next mob in the room or the team splits up or something else. It's there to give that extra boost to the team when that happens.
Maneuvers on the other hand is another +few % to the defense, much like CJ. I don't really understand what the tactics would be good for on the build.
Also, good point about Acrobatics. It could actually be removed - I'm not used to leaving it out of a build without natural KB protection.. Frozen Aura might be a good replacement, but that would mean moving some slots around...

Been thinking about new characters as I've hit a slump period and haven't really bothered playing my old ones in a while. And here's one that I've been toying around more than the others. A Tanker-y Fire Tank. Probably the first character I've designed without Hasten. (but at least it has Vengeance, so it's in line with other ones I have)
Now, the real questions I'm looking to be answered are, as I've never played either fire/ or /ice to higher level than about 10 - are the couple of offensive powers "enough". Would the build be "viable" with just them and the good looks of the defensive side.
Oh, and it's the respec build, naturally.

Pretty much what Cynic has to say - With my Stone/ I started with Stone Fists and a slotted Brawl and then later respecced into other attacks - Stone is a very slow set that doesn't really do it for the fury with the big attacks until you have enough of them to form a chain.

I think this is a damn nice reward. Compare it to stuff like "A Respec" or "Pictures of Positron for your base walls"

Came up with a team-scrankerish PvE hybrid build, quite heavy on the Purples and divided between damage dealing and crowd controlling. Left a weak spot against fire there and didn't bother with Hibernate to keep things interesting. Also, not a leveling build, and if you want to exemp down to somewhere below 30, keep a kin or a teleporter in the team.
