Quote:Actually the villains got a new contact as of Issue 21.Still there, but updated where appropriate. Most noticeably for hero capes at 20.

Quote:The only problem is that it is giving no healing OR accuracy bonus at all. None. Heal with a single generic level 50 IO is buffed at 42.4%, which is the IO alone. Same goes for every power that takes accuracy.
For all powers: Increases Healing by 45% and Accuracy by 33%. One half of these bonuses ignore the effects of enhancement diminishing returns. This power also applies a Level Shift.
It is giving the level shift.
This is on a Rad/Rad defender, VIP account. -
Well, I can speak for [Power:Vigor Total Core Revamp]. It is only giving the level shift, not any heal, not any acc bonus.
-
Yeah, I got 750 Vanguard Merits.

Hmm. I guess I should log in.

Quote:That was my observation from the live servers. No +Acc, no +heal.http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...42#post3986742
That may just be on Beta, but I think it's the same on Live. Not positive. -
Quote:Premium Players can only earn Reward merits after getting 8 Paragon Reward Tokens (approximately $75-$90 after tier 2), which also unlocks the lifetime Auction house.Might just be something I didn't notice before, but when I hopped on tonight I hit up the merit vendors and found 2 new options. People can now purchase the Auction house and Invention System 30 day licenses for 180 Reward Merits.
Obviously means nothing to VIPs, but something handy for Prems and Freems that don't want to drop the cash.
If it is to allow 30 days of being able to get large inspirations for 30 days, well that is a perk that you can get for completing tier 8. -
Quote:And that would be the reason why tying the rewards to billing would be a mistake.Nov 13th and still no points (or transfer token for that matter). If they're trying to win my subscription back, they are definitely going about it the wrong way!
All I can figure is that since I chose to deactivate my account, even though it is paid up through Nov 28th, they shut down all of the VIP rewards for my account. This looks like just more sloppy bookeeping. Until the 28th, I'm still a paying customer (whether I want to be or not), and I expect to be treated as such. All of these continuing mistakes are inexcusable.
As near as I figure out, start counting the Paragon Rewards from the end of September. So:Quote:Are we still waiting on October tokens?
Or have we started waiting on November tokens?
Sep 28 to around Oct 28 (more or less) : 1 token
October XX (when you got the last reward token for having a monthly subscription) to the same day in November : 1 token.
We haven't got the October token yet.
The black-box method we got for this is pretty much a game of "telephone" where the players are telling the Community Team we're upset, the Community Team is passing that along to the producers, but the message isn't arriving to the billing team, the customer support team, or the programming team intact.
From an outside perspective, it is looking like there is a lot of finger-pointing to other groups saying that "it is someone else's responsibility" and no one is willing (or able) to FIX the problem. -
VoodooGirl, you might need to add a warning that Desdemona can't be teleported. This is especially true with the new Destiny Incandescence power. It is possible to teleport the entire league away from Desdemona and fail the trial.

I want to take billing completely out of the equation. It serves no purpose being in the equation. It would mean that everyone (NCsoft, Paragon Studios, Customer Support, Community Team, and Players) knows when the perks are awarded. If they aren't awarded something can be done in a blanket fashion to correct the issue. Tying the perks to any billing cycle is a recipe for disaster.

Quote:As a rogue:I'd love to see a section added for what you CAN'T do on the "other" side (e.g. rogues in paragon). The only one I know of yet is sewer missions, but if there is more...?
- You can't do the blue side Death From Below.
- You can't do the blue side Cathedral of Pain (you can't enter hero bases).
- You can't do missions for normal hero contacts.
- You can't do hero flashbacks.
As a vigilante:- You can't do the red side Death From Below.
- You can't do the red side Cathedral of Pain (you can't enter villain bases).
- You can't do missions for normal villain contacts.
- You can't do villain flashbacks.

Quote:He meant a crate in Lambda drops the temp power on a random person on the team. All Keyes crates go to the person that clicks the glowies.Could you elaborate on that? I seem to remember I always got a temp when picking up a crate.
You can hand off all temps in any of the incarnate trials. -

Quote:Simple answer: Yes.for me to continue to do rogue alignment missions (as a rogue), do i really have to be on the villain side of the universe to do this?
All tips that offer villain or rogue status are in the villain zones. All tips that offer hero or vigilante status are in the hero zones.
As a Rogue you can start most hero task forces (provided you have met their requirements), otherwise teaming and tips are your only options for missions hero-side until you go full hero.Quote:the other question is that i could not find any way to get a contact to do missions on the hero side... my first guess is that this is only possible as a full hero... or is there a mechanism i'm missing?
Yes, as a rogue, you can still do any and all villain content. -
Quote:I know at least one QA person on the beta server following up the UI bug (and a market interface bug) within minutes of me saying something on the Beta Testers channel on the Beta Server. If any development team were so out of sync to ignore actual bug problems reported in betas
Trust me they aren't ignoring bug problems. They might not be saying much and the people responsible for the timetables might be overzealous, but they aren't ignoring the problems. -
Quote:I could see them upping the damage a bit, but overall I think Keyes will be run a LOT more. Even though I'm 2 for 2 getting Uncommons from it since the last patch.I ran with a league and the leader wouldn't shut the hell up about "OH GOD THIS IS TOO EASY, WTF WHY DID THEY NERF IT SO HARD, THIS IS JUST ANOTHER ITF, SCREW THE DEVS" while the rest of the league was too happy with the new run to tell her to put a freaking sock in it.
Seriously, devs, you hit the ball out of the park with this one. No more wasted hour and a half dying at the hands of a green death pulse.
The developers don't think the majority of players like Keyes as it was:Quote:That was me leading that league (on Emerald Thunder). For the record, the majority of those who had a voiced opinion in that league agreed with me -- you and maybe one other person were the only ones happy with it.
Quote:Now to give you some perspective on why such a change was proposed in the first place, we simply were not seeing enough people completing the newer developed content for the system. Players seemed to be content in running BAFs and Lambdas to the exclusion of everything else. Our metrics don't tell us why this is the case, but you the players have spoken about it. The first two trials are more fun and take a shorter time to complete than Keyes or Underground. Even by increasing the number of Emp Merits the longer Trials give, it still did not spur the playerbase as a whole into running that content. -
Quote:The problem is that they have to look at all the feedback, both positive and negative. To put it another way:It wouldn't surprise me to learn that player feedback of any kind is given absolutely no weight whatsoever because so much of it is so whiny, unreasonbably demanding, and negative.
If they focus only on the positive and ignore the negative they get the current mess that is the Keyes Trial. They launch the content, then wonder why people are abandoning it in droves compared with other content. Well the developers didn't initially listen to the criticisms. Instead they chose to try to increase the rewards. That failed to work as well.Quote:Originally Posted by Samuel GoldwynI don't want any yes-men around me. Paragon Studios, despite its faults, do not ignore feedback. They might not respond to negative feedback (a mistake), but most of the times they do take it into consideration.Quote:That is, when players point out something as a real problem, the devs ignore that feedback because everything else they do is greeted by players with the same amount of vitriol.
The developers do care. There are some bureaucratic issues (perks should be easy to understand & communicated to their paying customers), the marketing team needs to go back to the drawing board, and the people that are making the market should be replaced but the development team are not stupid by any means.Quote:I have no problem with players reporting major issues, but I (and, I suspect, the devs and community team) am annoyed by the refrain we've heard constantly from the players lately that "the devs are stupid" and "the devs don't care" and "it's all the ebil marketing soots fault lolz."
I completely understand this. However, when some suggestions are made to help with those priorities, they shouldn't be ignored.Quote:However, I think it would go a fair ways toward placating the increasingly angry player base if they were told in no uncertain terms that players do not take part in development or set priorities.
Yeah, even the developers... Who ask for subjective and objective feedback. Clearly you do not understand what an important role both positive and negative feedback play in the development process of any major undertaking, not just an MMO.Quote:Mechanisms like betas are designed for mechanical stress testing, not so players can have input on the game's published form. This is a fundamental truth that very, very few people seem to grasp.
Here is an interesting article that might help you get some insight into how to properly deal with negative impact.
http://mackcollier.com/study-responding-to-negative/
The main points:- Respond as quickly as possible.
- Be thankful, polite, and respectful of your customers EVEN IF you think they are DEAD WRONG.
- If your customers have inaccurate information, feel free to correct them.
- Tell the customers how you are going to address their complaints, and what the next steps are.
- Give customers a way to stay in touch with you, and invite further feedback.
The original survey results are here:

It has a tidbit that the OCR team and Customer Support need to understand:
Remind you of the VIP perks discussions?Quote:However, one of the top frustrations consumers had when shopping online was a lack of consistent information from retailers. Specifically, 22% of consumers were frustrated by information that was inconsistent between the retailer's website and customer service agents. -
Quote:After two months, Triumph has been unable to get Loves a Challenge a second time. With these changes, we'll have a fair chance to do it. The pulse damage might as well not exist now.not to mention dumbing down Keyes to a preschool level. Isn't one of the badges called "Loves a Challenge"? There was nothing about Keyes which was un-achievable with a PUG.
However, in the previous state, Keyes was simply not being run enough and players were staying away from it in droves.
Sorry you liked the previous version, but Keyes had to change in order for players to run it. On the other hand I fully expect there to be a nerf to the rewards on Keyes.
Underground will likely need to be changed because people will not be running it. Underground is not worth my time to run. It is not worth my time to PUG it.
