  1. Simple question. Just something I've been wondering since I joined and now seems as good a time as any to ask

    To all of you...

It was an honor and a pleasure Zwill.
  3. I've got an EQ2 account I poke at once in a while and I've been trying WoW out. Otherwise it's just back to the single player stuff for me.
  4. So, the big news sucks. We all knew it would happen eventually as with all games but this just comes so suddenly and when it seems like the game is moderately successful.

Still, the biggest disappointment, at least for me, is all the stuff we'll never get to know or see about. Obvious stuff like the new power sets yeah. And then 'bigger' stuff like 'What was Battalion'. And where the story might have gone. Or what the hell the other incarnate slots were going to do. Or what future trials and other stuff was coming down the line. And if Primalist was ever going to be a thing or not.

Just sad. I've only been with the game about a year, in fact, almost exactly a year. I'm glad I was able to pick a good server and met a lot of interesting people and had a lot of fun playing this game. Just sad to see it all just screech to a halt and know that I'll be uninstalling it in a few short months if not sooner.

    Ice/Ice in i24

From Dev comments, it's not getting it. Hawk is bumping up a couple powers in terms of damage and he has plans for some other mechanical change that won't make it in to i24.

Two changes have snuck their way into i24 for Ice - Freeze Ray will be a scale 2.2 DoT over 2 seconds, and Bitter Freeze Ray will have its recharge reduced to 15 seconds and its damage increased to match its recharge. This brings its DPS back up into the realm of other blast sets. I still want to add one new minor mechanic to the set eventually, which is part of why I didn't touch it initially - I didn't have time to do that right, and certainly didn't want to half-pancake it.

    Also - I like hyphens.
  6. There is a balance Sam, some coffee talks are about new goodies or upcoming things, sometimes they're just about for fun stuff like costumes or new mice.

It's pretty much like the Market. Something is going to be coming every week but not necessarily something new nor something that'll interest everybody. If it's not interesting you then you're probably not the one it's being targeted at.
  7. I don't remember ever hearing UGT gives a constant emp, I thought that didn't start until TPN/MoM was introduced, but everything -after- those 2 definitely rewards 1 emp if you're on the cool down.
  8. Yes, Von Krieger. I've since been taking it up but don't go for strict transcripts so much as summaries and usually skip ones like this that don't offer much of interest. But if there's some nifty tidbit it usually finds it's way on here some way or another
  9. I've got a grav/nature, it's been decent so far but it's still low level so i can't say how well it operates. Still it isn't bad. The splash knockback in propel is actually some very nice mitigation and has saved me more than a few times.

outside of specific synergy with grav itself, a few sets lend themselves especially well to solo'ing, they either have lots of utility or very few "ally only" abilities. /Rad, /Dark, and /time all offer goodies for solo'ing.
  10. I think the coffee talks are pretty valuable. Rather, they do serve a purpose. It's easy for us forumites to be dismissive of them because several of us are already entrenched in the beta so all the 'latest and the greatest' is generally old hat for us. The coffee talks aren't specifically aimed at us, per se. There are plenty of players that never touch the beta or just hear hearsay and rumor so the 'repeat' info for us is brand new to -someone-.

And really it's just some of the... peripheral stuff like the T9 costumes that don't really interest me much. Or in general when they bring the artists in. That's not a knock against the artists, they're some amazingly talented people and it's really cool what they've done but for me it doesn't add anything to have them sit and talk about costume designs.

For me I prefer folks like Synapse, Arbiter Hawk (So cute), Dr. Aeon, Positron. Etc. The folks that work on things I'm interested in, that is, the power systems, missions, zone content, etc. It's pretty interesting hearing what went into a design or the -why- something came out the way it did (or even when it -didn't- because of some limitation) and the Q&A sessions usually have some interesting tidbits, even if not new info sometimes insight on a why of something or even putting a rumor to rest, etc. But see that's me, there are some people, likewise, that aren't that interested in it.

So that's why we have different people and different topics every week. I like getting to know all the devs in some form, seeing how they interact and getting some of their personal thought that goes into what they're working on. Not every week can be some big amazing reveal or Issue teaser etc. And I do have to credit zwill for putting -something- together each week and keep us entertained. It's not easy nor is it minimal work, so it's nice to know we have a community manager that's willing to put in the work and keep in touch with us.
  11. Given the -extremely limited- use of Vanguard merits I honestly don't see why it isn't made a T1 unlock.

Vanguard merits net you Vanguard costume pieces, a few temp powers, and one space increase. And one piece of shard incarnate salvage that's useless to preemies (and doesn't appear until you have your slot unlocked). it's an extremely niche currency with mostly niche purchasables.
  12. I didn't watch the whole thing but it's pretty much anything and everything you could want to know about the Techknight costume. Since it's not really a topic of interest for me I have not sat through the whole thing. They do bring in the artist that worked on it so I'm sure it's got interesting tidbits and maybe there's a hidden gem of info here or there but from what I caught it was pretty much all techknight/costume discussion.
  13. The trial is weighted to reward rare/very rare more often.
  14. Beasts are both. That's one of the reasons they work well with a lot of different support sets, you can stack either defense or res up pretty easily on them.
  15. indie 4 just felt like it was spinning the wheels. Nearly every major plot point was a retread from a prior movie just with new names/faces. Instead of nazis it's communists, instead of God it's Aliens. The villains die for their greed and hubris.

It's like someone broke down Indie 3 into bullet points and just hanged names.
  16. Basically buying in bulk is cheaper, but the individual items are still discounted. Makes sense.

I freely admit all of those movies were disappointing and failed to live up to the standards of their franchise. But, they pretty much had the odds stacked up against them. They not only had to live up to the actuality of how good their predecessors were, but also the myth and legend of how good the previous movies were. That they so blatantly failed to do either makes them that much more disappointing.
Yeah even without so much hype, those three just failed on multiple levels. Taken in a vacuum they just weren't that good.

Plus Phantom Menace's big sin was being a prequel. Such a nono. Prequels are -rarely- good.
  18. Actually that would be pretty hilarious, Ouroboros and Prometheus never talk about the Battalion not because they're frightening and beyond imagining but because they're something horridly embarrassing and no one believes them when they say it.
  19. When you say teleported do you mean it just cuts and you're right back where you started? That sounds like lag. You probably want to wait for more of Stage 3 to download.
  20. I actually really enjoyed Sucker Punch >> Dunno why it gets so much hate

There's a number of films on here actually I disagree with, like Pirates 3, Ghostbusters 2, Kill Bill 2. That's mostly it though, a lot of the list holds up very much as disappointing.
  21. Hm interesting costume powers! But otherwise pretty uninteresting. I honestly think I'm getting antsy for the super packs XD But oh well, another week
  22. Yeah, what's all this "Quit mourning about the ponds, they're getting their own spin off".
