I entered the door to fight security team (1 other toon followed me in). We were both fighting the EB (and actually denting his HT a bit), and I was starting to get pissed wondering where the heck the rest of the League is.

Finally, it dawned on me that I wasn't up there bashing turrets *sigh*. I figured it didn't matter by now, so I kept fight the EB and eventually the rest of the league showed up and joined in - I'm not sure anyone even missed me (and maybe I was in Brute-lock because I didn't notice any tells like in the OP, assuming I was indeed in this league)

I know there was some issues with the teams and grenade/acid gathering but I was too busy running through the halls and smashing crates and perhaps didn't catch a lot of the league chatter. (I normally do, and again this may have not been the same league...but the similiarities are eerie)

Outside, Indeed, someone made Marauder come over to the Acid container, but I can swear I at least didn't do that one haha...

So, if that was me in your league going to fight security team in too early...uhm...sorry, just a total brain furt. If not your league, then whoever's it was...sorry again |)
I was on this one with you, but I am pretty it was a different one.

A lot of what you guys are saying makes sense, and I have run well over 30 of this trial alone. Everyone I have ever done it with wants to do Street, Courtyard, Turrets. Most will not listen to reason.

That is the only time I have ever had Marauder agro on a team while they were taking out the acid chamber. Luck? Perhaps, I think it more likely someone really was trying to mess us up. I am not paranoid, well mostly not, but I was also not alone in this feeling.

I agree on the temps, I prefer to keep the spread out too. Again some people are insistent. It is simpler not to argue.

As one of the people stated, after it was over I realized that it was a lot of fun. More than any of the others I have ever been on.

Also, looking at the responses I realize every server has their own common way of how these trials are ran, and the only wrong way is the one that fails.

That was the way I always prefer ed to do it too ZM. I got out of the habit because of people arguing and saying the turrets were less of a threat. I think I will be going back to turrets first though.

Inazuma, I was on Surge Warrior and it was at around midnight est on Virtue.
  4. First, I have to say I love this idea, and have a few questions.

Do you want us to post it in this thread, and in the other you mentioned, and send you a PM?

Can we clean up out Bio from the live in game version? I ask because it lacks space, and the Bios tend to not be as detailed as they could be.

Can we submit multiple costume pics for one character. My character has a human form, and then multiple incarnate/avatar forms that he takes for combat. (Yes I play on Virtue)

Do you want out builds? If so I will PM that, as I really don't want to post it on the open boards. Not because it is secret, I just dislike the method of feedback some posters use.

Thanks, and I will be submitting at least one character.

    Lambda Sabatoge!

I originally wrote this up to share on my SG web page, so please forgive me if I miss any of the curse words in the edit. Mods, I really did try to get them all. I have ran Lambda over 30(number may be low) times since it went live, I have never had anything like this happen before last night.

Last night I was going to run one Lambda before bed so I could get the one Emp merit from it for that day. I get on a league and was asked to lead it. Well, not what I was looking for, but I could do it. I get the teams balanced, and sorted, then we enter. Once in we pause on the streets, and I ask if anyone is new. I get a few yeses, so I break it down. I ask them to kill everything in the street, courtyard, and guns all going clockwise, then I ask them to pause so I can explain the rest. Everyone agrees. Upfront I tell them that my team will go after acids, and the second team will go after grenades, again they all agree. I again say to pause after the security team so we can explain it further.

During this time I am chatting with another player on the team, because he wants to hold all of the grenades and lead that part of the run. I say that is find and tell the rest of the league. Things are going great. Street is cleared, courtyard is cleared, and we are working on the guns. We have two guns left when we see the do not enter till ready warning. Several of us at that point give the customary "WTF?" and others scream "We will be find just don't go through there doors!" Then we see the warning "Marauder and his forces are in route." I again said don't go in (I had missed the second warning) the other team leader tells me we are too late the person already had. So, we all rush inside, the guard is dead, and we rush to click on our areas. I get a tell from the other team leader "We are ******." I say no we are not.

The timer gives 5 min to get all the temps, when we all got into our maps we had 3 left.

Only 4 of my team make it into the Training Facility, the rest ended up going to the wrong door. I switch to team chat and tell my team to follow me, at the time I thought they were just lagging behind. They follow me to the first vat, and we take it out, I split to go to the second (clockwise as I do all things in this trial) and only a lone Cor follows me. The other two get lost, or are fighting. I again say "follow me" I resist the temptation to add a "!" to it. One player says he doesn't know where I am, so I tell him to use the map. At this point I am fighting with just the cor with big groups of lvl 54 enemies. He says "You are not on the MAP!" I go with "Then you are in the wrong place." I am now done with the conversation because I have to fight, the Cor is hanging on by a thread. I catch bits about him not being told where to go, and the cor, and the other team leader finely break and let him know that I did tell them multiple times at the beginning of the mission. At this point my cor dies and I am alone.

Well, I am a scrapper damn it! I keep fighting my way alone. I let the league know I am alone, hoping they can send some of my team to my area. I collect over half of the acids alone before the other team arrives. At this point I need to thank my friend Seeth, because he had a huge hand in my build, and IO selection. My character is truly awesome. I could write a whole story just about what happened in the few min I was collecting acids on that run.

The other team manged to collect their grenades pretty fast, because they had 12 or more people doing it. I had collected 5 and was working on a 6th when they entered my map to help me. So, between us we had added enough time to finish temp power collection. We managed to clear all the temps with time to spare. As pissed as I was at the time, looking back it was pretty epic, but I am also not done with the story.

We get outside, and only 8 acids are used. So we have to take out the vat to our right to get another one. We realize we are going to have to do this twice. While fighting the vat someone (I don't know who) drug Marauder over. So we are fighting to destroy the vat, and fighting him at the same time. This is not the way it should be done, and I was ready to kick someone from the League. I wanted to do it before, but no one knew who had screwed us the first time. I know who it wasn't because they were chatting with me and their bubbles were where I was. I decided that someone was greifing our run. Too many things had gone in a direction we had warned against for it to have all been an accident. I let the other lead and my Cor know what I thought, the both agreed. Someone was trying to sabotage us.

We got the last laugh though. We won. Through all of the crap, we still beat the trial. I am kinda glad that I didn't find and kick them. Us winning, and them failing at what they really wanted to do was a good moment. Later chatting with the other Team lead, and my Cor we realized it had to be more than one person. I know some bad characters, but I have never seen one who can take the security team alone, and if you are reading this and can, I would LOVE to see your build (I would still argue that it can't eb done in the time ti takes to clear the guns). I still have no clue who did it, but I did get two new global friends from the experience. The only down side is I got a common reward table at the end.

If you are reading this, and were part of this trial on Virtue last night. Good Job.

I agree with this for all of the reasons listed.

    Reward Merits

    Vanguard Merits

    Hero Merits

    Villain Merits

    Astral Merits

    Empherium (SP?) merits

So, many merits to choose from.
  9. I can understand getting through the BAF. Kill to the objective.

Lambda I feel a bit different about.

Outside, Street, court yard, and guns all die. That is good to keep you alive later when someone "forgets" to use their temp.

In the maze, kill the glowie and leave the rest. Then kill Marauder, and those around him during the process.
  10. Ok, I have been a gamer for a LONG time. I started RPing in table top games when I was 9, and I am now 36. I even Boffer LARP and Action Theater LARP, which is are extreme form of RP.

I still can't grasp online RP. Only about 10-20% of what we communicate is eve verbal. That means that while online RPing you are losing about 80% of what you are communicating. W/o tone of voice, body language, and facial expressions I have no clue what someone is really saying.

    Sorry, that was off topic.

So, I could see them tweaking the actual difficulty of the trials upward a bit if we continue to steam roll them.
At this point I think that is a good idea any way. The other option is to find a way to add a slider so we can increase the difficulty.

Also, I never intended to change anyone's opinion. I just want people to see the various ways of looking at all of it.

Right now Astrals are basically free threads. I can imagine the devs adding essentially astral sinks which in effect put pressure on threads because astrals will be diverted to the New Stuff. I don't really consider that a nerf to their value either: if anything I consider that a buff to their value, which causes them to experience shortages rather then their current oversupply.
They have said it is going to this, I just fear what they will tie it to. I think most of us costume lovers see it coming no matter what though. Costumes are the one thing they know (almost) everyone will save and drop A and E merits on.
  12. I play on Virtue, I am not shocked at all.

I think I may just take a break from the game after my Vanguard rewards post and resub later. I dunno. I guess this just isn't the endgame content I was hoping for - and knowing that folks now have their tier 4s on multiple I20 Incarnate slots in less than a week? I mean, where else do you go from here?

Sorry, I'm just really quite speechless (and just a little bit sad).
I get where you are coming from, but t4 wasn't the end for me, it was just the beginning. I got the ones that made the most since first, next I will move on to those that also compliment my concept. I will just go a bit slower with those.

I wanted the t4 because I wanted to do the rest of the content with those cool powers. I will not lie, I have been running radio missions for years. GR was when I actually started reading the text again, and found that it was good. So, now I am going through all that content as what my character was meant to be the avatar of storms. It is so cool to me to go through and do this amazing stuff. To each their own.

I guess how you look at it, and approach it is what makes or breaks it. If it is just a matter of collecting, I can see where it may be upsetting that it can be done so fast. If it is a mater of completing a concept, then it just adds to the character and the experience of the game.

I can only speak for myself, but I REALLY want several of the other trees in Judgment, and Interface. I will get them, but I feel comfortable doing the trials as fillers now, and not as the only content I want to run. I honestly can't wait to do the LGTF, STF, and ITF with these powers. The STF most of all, I (as a virtue player) love to imagine the looks on their faces as the wrath of an angry storm falls upon them.

Yeah, I had t2 Lore crafted before I even unlocked the slot. Had my wisdom teeth removed the day after Launch, or I may would have had my t4s before Sunday, as is I had t4 interface on Sat, and t3 Judgment on Sunday.

The components didn't slow anyone down who really wanted it. The grind (as it is called) doesn't bother me either. It is much better than it was in the 8bit days of my child hood. It is fun, and if I could skip the cut scenes it would be even more fun.

I was going to start working on another Interface branch today, but Sons of Anarchy is on Netflix, and that caught me.

Sure your FF might not be as good as my ff, but something has to be said that when I do these run the majority is Scrappers Tanks and brutes.

So when I make my observation all I see is the less squishies (Not all but most) getting all of the goodies, and finally, after all these years, this game is HP based.

I don't care if controllers tap danced on your behind...I don't. What I am saying is that the AT structure that defined the game is comprimized ,and that...is dangerous. You wont convice me otherwise, because I have watched and beta tested too many games that died before release because of this.

You take away a mages fireball and give it to an HP warrior, and you just end up with HP fireball warriors. It's how it will be...and until this company realizes that they cannot offer powers that made AT's unique to others..then we will finally see tank mages. Which will literraly be tanks throwing fireballs.

If this sounds mean Im sorry...It's just how I do feel about these changes. It's to quick, and it's to game breaking.
Here we have the same argument again. As I have already stated, we have heard it before. It was wrong then, and it is wrong now. Some people will build for the numbers, the majority will continue to build for concept. Just like in table top games.

An example is in order. I have known for years that Fire/Kin controllers were awesome at generating income. I have still not made one, because they don't fit my concepts, and they just are not fun to me.

You still seem to miss the point that this (what is in your post) doesn't happen till the late game. There are still 50 levels where there is a distinct division in AT design.

This is what actually made me make the statement Sam. I am running it now with my scrapper to get the AVs for the badge credit. I actually feel super when I run into a spawn set for 8 players with my scrapper, and with one attack (t4 Ion Judgment) they are all dead, or held in a cage. In the past only the signature characters (or a nuke power) could do that, and nukers would crash afterward. Note: Those with Nukes and t4 Judgement can do BOTH.

I look at the trail AVs (not TF ones unless set to +4) as those Characters who have tapped into a greater power for a short time. Much like The infinity Guantlet, hate to use a Marvel reference, but can't think of a DC one. I say a short time because when I see think in missions I can solo them.

So I still feel first string. I am first string enough that the world wants me to join with other first string heroes to fight these creatures who have cheated. The other first stringers are scared to go, because Posi is still in SC, and Statesman is still planted on his ship.

    Quote:
We now just have the issue of "One toon can do it all" which loses the unique aspects of the games design when coming up with AT's.
Adding this rather than doing another post to address it.

Except the first 50+ levels the ATs still stand on their uniqueness. My scrapper still can't fire off 2 nuked in a row (Judgment + Nuke) a blaster can. Also those that are getting t4s will really be the top tier of players who had already found ways around the need for other ATs any way. I am unique in my costume, back story, power customization, and power selection. That is enough for me, if I want the spot light, I earn it. I don't need it programed into the game. I felt the same way before i20, most scrappers do though. There are whole threads dedicated to Pylon soloing, and the RWZ challenge.

I don't want to down play anyone's opinion, I respect perspective. I want people to have be able to see multiple perspectives though. I know that may be a lot to ask on the internet though.

I prefer the higher damage of Brutes and Scrappers, but anyone who is not able to realize that neither of Brutes nor Scrappers are even in the same league as a Tanker in durability is confused.
This is truth as far as the game is designed. I think tankers rely on that, and get used to it. Where as scrappers know they have to work for what they get. In the end that time playing harder makes them better players in a lot of cases.
  19. And at blinding speed with the new launcher.

On the bad side it removes the need to find a balanced team. Which sounds like a half butted abswer that contradicts it's self, but if you have 8 judgement wielding, debuffing, pet calling, healing ressing tanks in a team, there really is no need for anything further
Here is what is not being realized: People play with whoever they can get on the team. The so called "balanced team" is only desired by team leaders that are too extreme, and they get picked on by everyone else.

So far (and I am betting never) these powers mean nothing to teams, other than they bring more to the table. People are still going to fill teams with whoever then can get to join. I said the same thing in the league threads in beta. On live my predictions have been true, no one cares.

The truth is now we are FINALLY super heroes. We are going from the second and third string characters that the game was originally designed to make us, to the front line heroes we should have been all along.

Or maybe because I only play scrappers and brutes I am just used to already being a jack of all trades, and this is just nothing new to me.

Seriously though, the character homogeneity thing is one of the worst arguments I have ever seen on these boards. It was bad when Epics were introduced, and it is even worse now.
