Quote:The forum community has their heads up their ***** and are quite hostile when it comes to villains (the desire for a redside, roleplaying as one or seeking other like-minded players). Some going so far as to say "If you want to be a villain so bad, go play CoH... oh wait you can't lol"I don't see anyone tearing down CO's community, either (not even GG, unless I just missed those posts). In fact, it's that welcoming community that makes me want to give the game a second (well, fifth or sixth) chance despite its flaws.
In-game, people don't seem to care much either way. -
Why debunk it? If enough people believe it, it furthers the view that NCSoft was being run by fools which would lead to further PR (and possibly stock) damage for them, another nail in their coffin. If they won't let go of it now, there's a better chance of getting the IP in capable hands when the company finally goes under.

I can tolerate the cartoonish graphics, I enjoyed the combat system and charged attacks, I liked the costume creator... sort of (see below)
But I can't call it home. There is no villain option and the dialogue is so dumbed down I almost expect to be rewarded with shiny scratch-n-sniff stickers for a job well done. Also as mentioned above, its too campy, and not in a fun way
So about that costume creator... Its decent but there isn't much option for muted colors, some pieces look silly and the proportion sliders can get pretty ridiculous
That thing would be quite comfortable in Pocket D but there is no Pocket D, just some barren dive called Carpaccio or something... -

Quote:Every game has flaws. Nothing will be perfect and not everyone can be pleased. Even the "greatest things ever" have their faults. No not really.
The forums always overestimated just how good the good parts of this game are and always overlooked just how bad the flaws were. There was a thread about suggestions that made it into the game. Go through that and ask just how many you liked. Just look around and think how well forumites react to being told they are wrong. -
Don't go crazy with trying to be "fancy".
I could be wrong but I thought I saw a "let's add talent trees" idea thrown around for Titan's take on it. Let's not do that, just keep it simple. The simplicity of CoX is one of the things that made it so appealing.
And please, please, PLEASE, have a redside, not everyone wants to be the good guy.
About the only thing I'd want to see improved upon is colors for costumes. CO has 4 color options per costume piece, so something like that and/or color sliders. -
If you've played with Lock and Load Lari, Hyakki/Lady Seiko or Clairene, that was me.
I don't check it too often but my email is octopusbell(at)gmail(dot)com
I'm awfully forgetful so it would help if you mentioned your global or the name of the character you played when I met you. -
This is @Xieveral, better known to you as Hyakki. I haven't seen you online in a while and would hate to lose contact.
If you're reading this please PM me so we can trade contact info
If anyone reading can get in touch with him, could you ask him to send me a message? -

I'm thinking the staff got to keep their rednames regardless of their status. If you check the list of people online, there's several of them on as I am posting, Zwill included.
-
BUTBUTBUT!!!!
*shrug*
The question is directed at the rednames. They had said that they weren't going to "just in case" but today's announcement could be the final nail. I'm hoping its not but if it is...
Please let the non-VIPs see their locked characters one last time, please. -
There are a lot of people with locked characters because of the inability to become VIP again.
With today's news, is it possible to flip a switch and give us character unlocks and masterminds for free on the live servers? -
I'm hesitant to return to pick up anything new in fear of becoming as attatched to it as I am with CoH.
The last game closure to hit me like this was PC server closure for Phantasy Star Universe. That was my first MMO, CoX being my second.
That blow was a soft one in comparison because they announced their closure plans months in advance and I hadn't played in almost 2 years. Even with those servers gone, it wasn't truly dead. You could start over on the Xbox servers or create a Japanese account and play the JP server.
They did end the game for good at the end of September this year but with good reason. They wanted to focus resources on Phantasy Star Online 2 instead of just shutting it down and sitting on the PS series without ever doing anything more with it. -
Quote:Well, we wouldn't march out there with pitchforks and torches and lay waste to their offices. I think what they had in mind was financial destruction.Actually...no - that's exactly what they'll be expecting us to do!
So I won't give them the satisfaction. They tried to wait us out - we didn't give up. They folded their hand first.
Why should we react now? Looks like they didn't like being outwaited. So I say we outwait them some more
If that was what they meant, NCSoft shouldn't be the only target but also any companies that have an involvement with them such as Nexon. Wouldn't it hurt NC if Nexon decided they didn't want any association with them because their decisions are negatively affecting Nexon's business?
Destroy the game economy? It would hurt the players more than NCSoft, if the game were subbed then there would be more substantial damage. -
What is the next move? Despite the outcome, there is still much that can be done, maybe not for a legitimate revival of Cox but we can still push back at NC in other ways, yes?
-
There's still hope for private servers though, right? -
This is heartbreaking, soul crushing, rage inducing, etc.
Thank you all for trying nonetheless. -
Quote:Is a game life-saving? No. Can a game help you improve upon yourself as a person? Possibly. Can a game be detrimental? Possibly. So I guess you would of shot yourself if it wasnt for COX?
Hey, not everyone takes a game as a life and death situation. Some people can actually tell the difference between the gaming world and the real world unlike you.
Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a rich social life and seemingly endless supply of confidence. Games might just provide that inspiration they needed to get ahead in real life. The game may be one of many sources; it could be a book, TV show or something as small as having the door held open for you by a stranger.
For the record, I will not be hanging myself just because our views differ. -
I don't think there's anything like WoW and their Figureprints service (whice are unfortunately statues, not action figures) There was a thread about some very rough statues someone managed to make with a 3D printer, I think it was said that the way the models are make it very hard to do unless you have the knowledge in doing 3D models.
This is the thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=296033
But I don't think it'd be too difficult to make your own using an existing action figure as the base. I plan to eventually. A little practice in painting fine details or sculpting would be the tough part I imagine.
There was someone on here that posted pictures of her custom ball-jointed dolls made to look like Ghost Widow and their own characters. Those dolls are hella expensive though. (my bad, that was in a thread on the Titan forums but there was another person who had their character as a doll http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...9&postcount=10 I have yet to find that Titan post though...)
